Claims
- 1. A camera comprising:
- a camera body;
- a push-pull mounted on said camera body, said push-pull being movable between a primary position and a secondary position;
- a sliding member mounted in said camera body, said sliding member having a shutter button arm, a shutter actuation arm, and a timer release arm, said sliding member being moveable from a first position to a second position by depression of said shutter button arm, said sliding member being limited to movement from said first position to an offset position when said push-pull is moved from said primary position to said secondary position, said sliding member in said offset position being substantially blocked from moving toward said second position;
- a shutter release disposed in said camera body, said shutter release being movable from an initial position to a stopped position and from said stopped position to a released position, said shutter release being detained in said initial position by said shutter actuation arm when said sliding member is in one of first and offset positions, said shutter release being released from said shutter actuation arm when said sliding member is in said second position, said shutter release being biased toward said released position;
- a timer including
- a delay counter,
- a linkage coupled to said delay counter for movement, in synchronism with said delay counter, from a start configuration to an end configuration, said linkage having a stop, said stop being disposed to arrest said shutter release when said linkage is in said start configuration and said shutter release is in said stopped position, said stop being free of said shutter release when said shutter release is in one of said initial and released positions; and
- wherein said timer release arm deactuates said timer when said sliding member is in said first position and said timer release arm actuates said timer when said sliding member is in one of said offset and second positions.
- 2. The camera of claim 1 wherein said sliding member in said offset position is substantially blocked from moving toward said second position by said push-pull.
- 3. The camera of claim 1 wherein said push-pull is a sliding lens cover assembly.
- 4. The camera of claim 3 wherein said camera further comprises a taking lens mounted to said camera body and wherein said lens cover unblocks said taking lens in said primary position and blocks said taking lens in said secondary position.
- 5. The camera of claim 1 wherein said push-pull is movable between said primary and secondary positions in a first direction, and said sliding member is moveable from said first position to said second position in a second direction, and said first and second directions are substantially perpendicular.
- 6. The camera of claim 1 further comprising a biasing member biasing said sliding member for return from said second position to said first position.
- 7. The camera of claim 1 wherein said timer release arm interrupts said movement of said linkage when said linkage is in said start configuration and said sliding member is in said first position, and said timer release arm is unconstraining of said movement when said sliding member is in said second position.
- 8. The camera of claim 1 wherein said timer includes:
- a spring,
- a winder mechanically connected to said spring, said winder being movable into a wound position to load said spring,
- a gear train driven by said spring;
- an escapement driven by said gear train,
- and said linkage is coupled to said gear train for movement with said gear train between said start and end configurations.
- 9. The camera of claim 8 wherein said gear train includes input, output, and intermediate gear units, said input gear unit being driven by said spring, said intermediate gear unit being disposed in mechanical sequence between said input and output gear units, said intermediate gear unit having a lower mechanical advantage in said sequence, relative to said input and output gear units.
- 10. The camera of claim 9 wherein said timer release arm stalls said intermediate gear unit when said linkage is in said start configuration and said timer release arm is in said first position.
- 11. The camera of claim 1 wherein said camera further comprises a plurality of contact pads fixed within said camera body and said sliding member includes an electrical contact arm having a plurality of electrical contact elements, said electrical contacts being disposed to individually engage respective said contact pads when said sliding member is in one of said first position, said second position, and a plurality of positions intermediate between said first and second positions.
- 12. The camera of claim 1 wherein a linkage coupled to said delay counter for movement, in synchronism with said delay counter, from a start configuration to an exposure configuration and from said exposure configuration to an end configuration, and said timer has a holdfast, said holdfast gripping said sliding member when said sliding member is in said second position and said linkage is in one of said start and exposure configurations, said holdfast being released from said sliding member when said linkage is in said end configuration.
