Claims
- 1. A camera including a housing, a lens, a shutter mechanism, and a film transport device, the camera comprising:
- a controller;
- a clock circuit connected to the controller for determining a current time and a current date;
- a display device disposed on an exterior of the camera housing and connected to the clock circuit, the display device being capable of displaying images representative of at least date and time;
- a function selection switch connected to the controller, operation of the function selection switch causing the controller to enter one of only two modes, the two modes being an operation mode and a display mode; and
- at least one dual-function switch connected to the controller, operation of the at least one dual-function switch causing the controller to perform a single operation mode function while the controller is in the operation mode, operation of the at least one dual-function switch causing the controller to perform a single display mode function while the controller is in the display mode.
- 2. The camera of claim 1, wherein operation of each of the at least one dual-function switch while the controller is in the operation mode causes the controller to modify operating characteristics of only one photographic feature of the camera, and wherein operation of each of the at least one dual-function switch while the controller is in the display mode causes the controller to modify the images on the display device.
- 3. The camera of claim 2, wherein there are three of the dual-function switches and only one said function selection switch.
- 4. The camera of claim 3, further comprising an electronic flash, an autofocus device, and a self-timer, wherein, while the controller is in the operation mode, operation of a first of the three dual-function switches causes the controller to modify the manner in which the electronic flash is used during subsequent exposures, operation of a second of the three dual-function switches causes the controller to modify the manner in which the autofocus device is used during subsequent exposures, and operation of a third of the three dual-function switches causes the controller to modify the manner in which the self-timer is used during subsequent exposures.
- 5. The camera of claim 4, wherein, while the controller is in the display mode, operation of the first dual-function switch causes the controller to alter the images on the display device between a date-display state, a time-display state, and a display-off state, operation of the second dual-function switch causes the controller to alter the images on the display device by causing a portion less than an entirety of the images on the display device to flash, and operation of the third dual-function switch causes the controller to alter the images on the display device by causing the flashing portion of the images on the display device to one of reset and increment.
- 6. The camera of claim 1, further comprising a date recording device for photographically recording a current date on a film loaded in the camera.
