FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention generally relates to games of skill involving smoking of cannabis using a specially designed smoking apparatus, which is fitted with a uniquely conceived removable funnel or catch cup attachment to catch a projectile or ball, preferably a ping-pong ball or a table tennis ball. The cannabis smoking game, titled “Bong Pong,” is played on a gameplay flat surface with a plurality of the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or “bongs” each fitted with a specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment arranged at opposite ends of the gameplay flat surface. The object of the game is to catch the thrown or bounced projectile or ball in one of the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachments; the losing player or team is required to smoke cannabis from the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus after removal of the funnel or catch cup attachment.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Drinking games, such as those titled “beer pong,” are immensely popular and are played throughout the world. The games usually involve teams of opposing players and drinking cups containing beverages arranged in a gameplay format, usually on a flat surface. The rules and playing styles of beer pong are consistent. Generally, two or four individuals participate at one time. These individuals are typically divided into two opposing teams. Each team arranges a group of cups in the shape of a pyramid near the end of a table (see U.S. Pat. No. 8,651,492). Each team thereafter fills each cup with a preselected amount of beer. The players then take turns tossing or bouncing ping-pong balls across the length of the table. One object of the game is to cause a ping-pong ball to land in an opponent's cup. If a player's opponent succeeds in landing a ball in an opponent's cup, called “making a shot,” that player must drink the contents of the cup into which the beer pong ball landed. The empty cup is then removed from the table. The team that successfully eliminates each of the opponent's cups first is the victor. When this occurs, the losing team must completely drink or “down” the entire contents of the winning team's remaining filled cups.
Currently, there are no similar games of skill for smoking cannabis. A major problem in creating a smoking game of skill for individuals and teams of players that involves throwing or bouncing a ball, preferably a ping-pong ball or table tennis ball, and catching it in a cylindrical vertical inhalation chamber or vertical tube of a water pipe or bong is the difficulty caused by the narrow diameter of the cylindrical vertical inhalation chamber or vertical tube of a water pipe or bong. The narrow diameter of the cylindrical vertical inhalation chamber or vertical tube is necessary to permit the mouth of a smoker to efficiently inhale combusted cannabis smoke. This narrow diameter also makes it nearly impossible for use in any cannabis game involving throwing or bouncing a ball, in particular a ping-pong ball, and catching it in the cylindrical vertical inhalation chamber or vertical tube of the water pipe or bong.
The current invention overcomes the limitations of the narrow diameter and instability of the cylindrical vertical inhalation chamber (or the vertical tube of most common water pipes or bongs) by having a novel cannabis smoking apparatus with a specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment, which allows for a novel cannabis smoking game that individuals and teams of players can enjoy.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
A cannabis smoking game or “Bong Pong” comprises: twelve (six per side) specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs, each having a cylindrical inhalation chamber, preferably collapsible or tapered and fitted with a specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment capable of catching a thrown or bounced ball, preferably a ping-pong ball or table tennis ball; one or more ping-pong balls or table tennis balls; and instructions for playing the game. The game is played on a suitable flat surface, gameplay surface, wherein at opposing ends are placed in a pyramidal arrangement (1:2:3) six of the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs, preferably collapsible or tapered, each fitted with the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachments. Any number of players or participants are divided into at least 2 teams. The game is played by having opposing teams take turns throwing or bouncing a ball across the flat surface with the objective of getting the ball into one of the removable funnel or catch cup attachments of the cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs at the opposite ends of the flat surface. If the ball successfully lands in one of the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachments, the opposing team smokes the contents of that cannabis smoking apparatus or bong, after which the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong is set aside. The game continues until all the cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs on one end of the flat surface are eliminated and the team with remaining cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs wins the game.
In one embodiment, the cannabis smoking game or Bong Pong is played with cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs. Each bong comprises a cylindrical inhalation chamber having a lower portion adapted to contain water or other suitable liquid and an upper portion with an open end for inhalation that is adapted to form with the surface of the water or suitable liquid; a liquid-free generally enclosed space for collecting and containing smoke; an upwardly directed optionally removable side tube having a top end that is disposed outside the chamber and a lower end that is disposed in the interior of the chamber and below the surface of the water or suitable liquid therein; a base to support the cylindrical inhalation chamber wherein the ratio of the height of the cylindrical inhalation chamber to the diameter of the base ranges from about 1.25 to about 1.75 and more preferably the ratio is about 1.5; an optionally removable upwardly disposed bowl for combusting cannabis, that is attached to the top end of the side tube; and a specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment having a top portion with a diameter capable of catching a thrown or bounced ball and a lower portion having a uniform diameter capable of fitting into the top of the upper portion of the cylindrical inhalation chamber, wherein the lower portion of the funnel or catch cup has a closed bottom with a series of holes to allow for a bong that has been overfilled with liquid. The lower portion of the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment has a height of between about 25% and 35% of the height of the cylindrical inhalation chamber with attached base.
In another embodiment, the cannabis smoking game or Bong Pong is played with cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs comprising: a collapsible telescopic cylindrical inhalation chamber having a lower portion adapted to contain water or other suitable liquid and an upper portion with an open end for inhalation that is adapted to form with the surface of the water or suitable liquid; a liquid-free generally enclosed space for collecting and containing smoke; an upwardly directed removable side tube having a top end that is disposed outside the chamber and a lower end that is disposed in the interior of the chamber and below the surface of the water or suitable liquid therein; a base to support the collapsible telescopic cylindrical inhalation chamber, wherein the ratio of the height of the collapsible telescopic cylindrical inhalation chamber to the diameter of the base ranges from about 1.25 to about 1.75 and more preferably, the ratio is about 1.5; an upwardly disposed removable bowl for combusting cannabis that is attached to the top end of the side tube; and a specially designed removable collapsible telescopic funnel or catch cup attachment having a top portion with a diameter capable of catching a thrown or bounced ball and a lower portion having a diameter capable of fitting into the top of the upper portion of the collapsible telescopic cylindrical inhalation chamber, wherein the lower portion of the funnel has a closed end.
In another embodiment, the cannabis smoking game or Bong Pong is played with tapered cylindrical cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs comprising: a tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber having a lower portion adapted to contain water or other suitable liquid and an upper portion with an open end for inhalation that is adapted to form with the surface of the water or suitable liquid; a liquid-free generally enclosed space for collecting and containing smoke; an upwardly directed optionally removable side tube having a top end that is disposed outside the chamber which is suitable for attachment of a combustion bowl for combusting cannabis and a lower end disposed in the interior of the chamber and below the surface of the water or suitable liquid therein; a base to close and seal the open bottom end of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber, wherein the angle of the taper from the bottom to the top is about 10 to 20 degrees and more preferably about 16.6 degrees; and a specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment having a top portion with a diameter capable of catching a thrown or bounced ball and a lower portion having a diameter capable of fitting into the top of the upper portion of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber, wherein the lower portion of the funnel can be open or closed. A significant advantage of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber is that when disassembled from the tapered cylindrical cannabis smoking apparatus the inhalation chambers can be stacked for storage or transport. The specially designed removable funnel or catch cup can also be stacked for storage or transport.
The novel designs of the cannabis smoking apparatus and removable funnel or catch cup attachment provide the opportunity to develop a cannabis smoking game in which participants or players can enjoy smoking cannabis in a gameplay format.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Definitions
The terms used in this specification generally have their ordinary meanings in the art, within the context of the invention, and in the specific context wherein each term is used. Certain terms that are used to describe the invention are discussed below, or elsewhere in the specification, to provide additional guidance to the practitioner regarding the description of the invention.
Unless otherwise defined, all technical and scientific terms used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one of ordinary skill in the art to which this invention pertains. In the case of conflict, the present document, including definitions, will control.
The terms “cannabis” or “marijuana” or “hemp” or “sinsemilla” are used interchangeably and refer to all products derived from the Cannabis sativa plant. Major psychoactive agents in Cannabis sativa include tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and derivatives of THC. Cannabis or marijuana are also known as pot, weed, Mary Jane, and ganja.
The terms “cannabis smoking apparatus” or “bong” or “water pipe” are used interchangeably and refer to a device used to smoke a cannabis-like psychoactive herb; the device comprising a vertical tube suitable to be partially filled with a liquid such as water, and a smaller offset tube with a bowl for combusting the cannabis. In a preferred embodiment, the “cannabis smoking apparatus” is collapsible. In some embodiments, the cannabis smoking apparatus may include an attached removable funnel attachment.
The term “Bong Pong” refers to a cannabis smoking game that utilizes a bong having a removable funnel or catch cup attachment as a “catching” apparatus, capable of catching thrown or bounced balls, preferably ping-pong balls or equivalents thereof.
The term “specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment” refers to a plastic catching device for thrown or bounced balls, preferably ping-pong balls, table tennis balls, or perforated hollow balls and more preferably ping-pong balls, which can be inserted into the top portion of the inhalation chamber of a cannabis smoking apparatus or bong. In one embodiment, the “specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment” is collapsible.
The term “telescopic” or “collapsible telescopic” refers to the cannabis smoking apparatus inhalation chamber and/or removable funnel attachment having cylindrical sections designed to slide into one another, so that the cannabis smoking apparatus inhalation chamber and/or removable funnel attachment can be made longer or shorter, to save space when the cannabis smoking apparatus chamber and/or removable funnel attachment are stored.
The terms taper or “tapered” or “tapered cylindrical” refers to gradual decrease in diameter of a cylindrical tube or cylindrical inhalation chamber from the bottom to the top.
The phrase “and/or” as used herein, should be understood to mean “either or both” of the elements so conjoined, i.e., elements that are conjunctively present in some cases and disjunctively present in other cases.
As used herein, “or” should be understood to have the same meaning as defined above for “and/or.” For example, when separating a listing of items, “and/or” or “or” shall be interpreted as being inclusive, i.e., the inclusion of at least one, but also potentially also including more than one of a number of items, and, optionally, additional unlisted items. Only terms clearly indicated to the contrary, such as “only one of” or “exactly one of,” or, when used in the claims, “consisting of” will refer to the inclusion of exactly one element of a list of elements. In general, the term “or” as used herein shall only be interpreted as indicating exclusive alternatives (i.e., “one or the other but not both”) when preceded by terms of exclusivity, such as “either,” “one of,” “only one of,” or “exactly one of.”
The term “about” means a range of values including the specified value, which a person of ordinary skill in the art would consider reasonably similar to the specified value. In embodiments, “about” means within a standard deviation using measurements generally acceptable in the art. In embodiments, “about” means a range extending to +/−10% of the specified value. In embodiments, “about” includes the specified value.
Throughout the description and claims of this specification, the word “comprises” and variations of the word, such as “comprising” and “comprises,” means “including but not limited to,” and is not intended to exclude, for example, other additives, components, integers, or steps.
Cannabis Smoking Game
The cannabis smoking game, or “Bong Pong,” is an original game that was inspired by the hugely popular game called Beer Pong. The major difference from Beer Pong is that the game Bong Pong is played with custom-designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs, each fitted with a custom-designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment capable of catching a thrown or bounced ball, preferably a ping-pong ball or a table tennis ball, instead of, as in Beer Pong, cups containing beer, thereby allowing participants to enjoy smoking cannabis in a gameplay format.
Certain preferred embodiments of the cannabis smoking game are disclosed with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which like elements are identified by like reference numerals within the drawings. The disclosed drawings are to be understood as being nonlimiting in nature and representing preferred embodiments. It is also to be understood that variations and modifications may be made and are considered to still fall within the concept of the present invention.
Referring to FIGS. 1-3, the drawings show one embodiment of a cannabis smoking game starting configuration or format 10, termed Bong Pong, wherein twelve specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs, each fitted with a specially designed removable funnel attachment 21, are arranged at opposite ends of a gameplay mat 11 in a pyramidal fashion 20.
FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of a cannabis smoking game setup or starting configuration or format 10 according to a preferred embodiment, comprising a gameplay mat 11 having arranged on the top surface at opposing ends in a pyramidal fashion 20 the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs 21. Each cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21 having a bowl 211 for combusting cannabis; a cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 capable of containing a liquid in the bottom portion suitable for filtering, cooling, and/or moistening cannabis smoke and a top portion suitable for a player to inhale cannabis smoke; a specially designed removal funnel or catch cup attachment 212 that is inserted into the top portion of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21 that is suitable for catching a thrown or bounced projectile or ball, preferably a ping-pong ball, a table tennis ball, or a perforated hollow ball, and more preferably a ping-pong ball.

Each cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31 having a removable side tube 314 and bowl 311 for combusting cannabis; a collapsible telescopic cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313 capable of containing a liquid in the bottom portion suitable for filtering, cooling, and/or moistening cannabis smoke and a top portion suitable for a participant to inhale cannabis smoke; and a specially designed collapsible telescopic removable funnel or catch cup attachment 312 that is inserted into the top portion of the collapsible telescopic cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313 of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31 that is suitable for catching a thrown or bounced projectile or ball 12, preferably a ping-pong ball, a table tennis ball, or a perforated hollow ball, and more preferably a ping-pong ball.
FIG. 5 shows a perspective view of another embodiment of the cannabis smoking game setup configuration or format 10 comprising a gameplay mat 11 having arranged on the top surface at opposing ends in a pyramidal fashion (1:2:3) 40 specially designed tapered cylindrical cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs 41. Each tapered cylindrical cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 41 having; a tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413 with a sealed bottom closure, optionally removable, capable of containing a liquid in the bottom portion suitable for filtering, cooling, and/or moistening cannabis smoke and a top portion with a diameter suitable for a participant to inhale cannabis smoke; a removable metal side tube or down stem 414 (not shown) extending from the inside lower portion of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413 to outside the chamber fitted at the external end with a combustion bowl 411 for combusting cannabis; and a specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 412 that is inserted into the top portion of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413 of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 41 that is suitable for catching a thrown or bounced projectile or ball, preferably a ping-pong ball, a table tennis ball, or a perforated hollow ball, and more preferably a ping-pong ball.
FIG. 6 shows a side view of the cannabis smoking game starting configuration or format 10 comprising the gameplay mat 11 having on the top surface in pyramidal fashion 40 at opposite ends six specially designed tapered cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs 41 each fitted with a specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 412.
FIG. 7 shows a perspective view of another embodiment of the cannabis smoking game setup configuration or format 10 wherein twelve specially designed tapered cannabis smoking apparatuses 41, each fitted with a specially designed removable funnel attachment 412, are arranged on a suitable flat surface at opposing ends in a pyramidal fashion (1:2:3) 40.
Any number or variety of rules can be adopted for playing a cannabis smoking game utilizing a plurality of the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs of the present invention. (For example, in Beer Pong, a plurality of cups containing one or more alcoholic beverages is arranged in 1-2-3 pyramidal fashion (see U.S. Pat. No. 8,651,492). Two players toss ping-pong balls, attempting to direct the balls into one of the cups. Ping-pong balls may be tossed directly or bounced on a substrate. If a ball touches a cup, it is considered “sunk,” whereupon the opposing team must consume the contents of the cup.
Beer Pong is generally played by teams in which each team takes turns throwing a ping pong ball or table tennis ball into the other team's cups. There are a variety of rules and adaptations of rules available to play Beer Pong. In general, once a ball lands in a cup, the cup is taken away and the opponent then drinks the contents of the cup. If both teammates hit cups, the balls are rolled back, and the players get to shoot again. The team that successfully gets the ball into all of the opponent's cups first wins the game.
In one embodiment of the cannabis smoking game or Bong Pong, the game is played by having players divided into teams. A team can range from a single player to any number of players.
In another embodiment, a gameplay mat or “Bong Pong” mat is placed on a suitable flat surface, and specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs, as disclosed herein, each fitted with a specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment as disclosed herein capable of catching a thrown or bounced ball, are arranged in a pyramidal fashion at opposite ends of the top surface of the gameplay mat. Preferably, six of the cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs are arranged in pyramidal fashion at each end of the gameplay mat. The surface for playing the cannabis smoking game can be a floor, tabletop, or any other suitably flat surface. In another embodiment of the cannabis smoking game, the game can be played on any suitable flat surface without a gameplay mat or Bong-Pong mat.
After deciding which team goes first, a player of that team throws or tosses a ball across the gameplay mat surface with the objective of catching the ball into one of the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachments placed in the pyramidally arranged specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs at the opposite end of the top surface of the gameplay mat. Each side takes its turn at throwing or bouncing the ball into one of their opponents' specially designed smoking apparatuses or bongs with the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachments. If the ball successfully lands in one of the specially designed and removable funnel attachments, the opposing team must, after removal of the funnel or catch cup attachment, smoke the contents of that cannabis smoking apparatus or bong, and the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong is removed from the gameplay mat; the game continues until all of the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs on one side are eliminated and the team with remaining cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs wins the game.
In one version of the cannabis smoking game, cannabis is added to each of the combustion bowls of the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs prior to the start of the game. In another version of the cannabis smoking game, the cannabis can be added to the combustion bowl of the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong prior to the loosing player having to smoke the contents of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong.
In another version of the cannabis smoking game, the game can be played directly on any suitable flat surface without a gameplay mat or Bong Pong mat.
The game is can optionally be played using a rectangular gameplay mat, a “Bong Pong” mat, which dimensions allow for various arrangements, preferably pyramidal, of six (in a 1-2-3 format) specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs, each fitted with a specially designed removable funnel attachment at opposing ends of the gameplay mat. The gameplay mat can be prepared from any suitable material such as neoprene, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyurethane (PU), or synthetic cloth. The gameplay mat can have markings to allow for placement of the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs in various gameplay arrangements.
In one embodiment of the cannabis smoking game or Bong Pong, the cannabis smoking game comprises: a rectangular gameplay mat with a top surface and bottom surface; six to twelve cannabis smoking apparatuses, as described herein, each having a cylindrical inhalation chamber with a top portion and a combustion bowl; one or more balls, preferably ping pong balls; six to twelve removable funnel or catch cup attachments each having a top portion capable of catching a thrown or bounced ball, and a lower portion with a diameter suitable to fit within the top portion of the cylindrical inhalation chamber, wherein:
- (i) the bottom surface of the rectangular gameplay mat is placed on a flat surface,
- (ii) the removable funnel attachments are attached to the cannabis smoking apparatuses by inserting the bottom portion of the removable funnel attachment into the top portion of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or the cannabis smoking apparatuses, and
- (iii) three to six of the cannabis smoking apparatuses with attached removable funnel attachments are arranged on the top surface of the gameplay mat in a pyramidal arrangement at opposing ends; and
wherein the game is played by:
- (iv) dividing two or more players into at least two teams,
- (v) opposing teams of players take turns throwing or bouncing the ball across the top surface of the gameplay mat with the objective of getting the ball into one of the attached removable funnel attachments of the cannabis smoking apparatuses at the opposite end of the gameplay mat,
- (vi) if the ball successfully lands in one of the removable funnel attachments, the opposing team player removes the cannabis smoking apparatus with attached removable funnel attachment from the gameplay mat and removes the removable funnel attachment,
- (vii) the opposing team player smokes cannabis from the combustion bowl of the cannabis smoking apparatus, and
- (vii) the game continues repeating steps (v) to (vii) until all of the cannabis smoking apparatuses on one end of the gameplay mat are removed.
In one variation of the cannabis smoking game, the cannabis smoking apparatuses and removable funnel or catch cup attachments are collapsible.
In another variation of the cannabis smoking game, the cannabis smoking apparatuses have tapered cylindrical inhalation chambers.
In another variation of the cannabis smoking game, the number of cannabis smoking apparatuses and the number of removable funnel attachments is twelve.
In another variation of the cannabis smoking game, the cannabis is added to the combustion bowl of the cannabis smoking apparatuses prior to step (v).
In another variation of the cannabis smoking game, the cannabis is added to the combustion bowl of the cannabis smoking apparatuses after step (vi).
In another variation of the cannabis smoking game, the ball is a ping-pong ball or a table tennis ball, more preferably a ping-pong ball.
In another variation of the cannabis smoking game, water or other suitable liquid is added to the cannabis smoking apparatus prior to step (iv).
In another variation of the cannabis smoking game, the game is played without the rectangular gameplay mat, and the cannabis smoking apparatuses with attached removable funnel attachments are arranged on a flat surface.
Cannabis Smoking Apparatus
Certain preferred embodiments of the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus are disclosed with reference to the accompanying drawings, and in which like elements are identified by like reference numerals within the drawings. It is to be understood that the disclosed drawings are nonlimiting in nature and represent preferred embodiments. It is also to be understood that variations and modifications may be made and are considered to still fall within the concept of the present invention.
FIG. 8 shows a side view of an embodiment of a specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21 having a cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 with a diameter that permits a person to inhale cannabis smoke from the open end of the upper portion 215 of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213; a bowl 211 capable of combusting cannabis fitted in a side tube 214 at an angle to the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213; a base 217 to support the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21, wherein the ratio of the height of the cylindrical inhalation chamber to the diameter of the base ranges from about 1.25 to about 1.75, most preferably the ratio is about 1.5; and a specially designed removable funnel attachment 212 inserted into the top of the upper portion 215 of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213. The specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment has an open top 218 with a diameter capable of catching a ball, preferably a ping-pong ball, a table tennis ball, or a perforated hollow ball, more preferably a ping-pong ball, that decreases in diameter 219 to a lower portion 220 having a uniform diameter capable of fitting into the top of the upper portion 215 of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213. Preferably, the lower portion 220 of the removable funnel attachment has a height of between about 25% and 35% of the height of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 with attached base 217.

Preferably the lower portion 220 has a height of between about 25% and 35% of the height of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 with attached base 217.

FIG. 12 shows the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 212 separated from the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21. The specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 212 is capable of being inserted into the top of the upper portion 215 of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21. The specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 212 comprises an open-top portion 218 with a diameter capable of catching a ball, preferably a ping-pong ball, a table tennis ball, or a perforated hollow ball, more preferably a ping-pong ball, that decreases in diameter 219 to a lower portion 220 having a uniform diameter capable of fitting into the top of the upper portion 215 of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 of the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21. The lower portion of the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 212 is closed 221 with a series of holes 222 (not shown) to prevent the captured ball from falling into the lower portion 216 of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21. Preferably the lower portion 220 has a height of between about 25% and 35% of the height of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 with attached base 217.
FIG. 13 shows a perspective view of the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 212 having an open top portion 218 having a diameter that allows for catching a thrown or bounced ball, preferably a ping pong ball, a table tennis ball, or a perforated hollow ball, more preferably a ping-pong ball, that decreases in diameter 219 to a lower portion 220 having a diameter capable of fitting into the top of the upper portion 215 of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21. The bottom of the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 212 is closed 221 to prevent a captured ball from falling into the bottom portion 216 of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 when attached to a cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21. The closed bottom 221 of the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 212 has an arranged series of holes 222 to allow for interchange of atmospheric air. While FIG. 9 shows the holes 222 in a circular arrangement, they can also be arranged in different configurations. The length and diameter of the bottom portion 220 is such as to allow for stable insertion into the top of the upper portion 215 of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21. Preferably the lower portion 220 has a height of between about 25% and 35% of the height of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 with attached base 217.
FIG. 14 shows a top view of the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 212 with an open-top portion 218 having a diameter that allows for catching a thrown or bounced ball, preferably a ping-pong ball, a table tennis ball, or a perforated hollow ball, more preferably a ping-pong ball, that decreases in diameter 219 to a lower portion 220 having a uniform diameter capable of fitting into the top of the upper portion 215 of a cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 (not shown) of a cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21 (not shown). The bottom of the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 212 is closed 221 to prevent a captured ball from falling into the lower portion 216 (not shown) of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 (not shown) of the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21 (not shown). The closed bottom 221 of the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 212 has an arranged series of holes 222 to allow for interchange of atmospheric air. While FIG. 11 shows the holes 222 in a circular arrangement, they can also be arranged in different configurations.
The method of operation of the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21 is now described. The specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 212 is removed from the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21 prior to the player inhaling cannabis smoke through the open top of the upper portion 215 of the cylindrical inhalation tube or vertical tube 213. The manner in which the player operates the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21 generally involves the player comfortably placing his or her mouth on the top of the upper portion of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 212, followed by igniting with a lighted match, lighter or the like thereto, the cannabis loaded into the bowl 211 and inhaling through their mouth the combusted cannabis smoke (See U.S. Pat. No. 4,216,785). The lower portion 216 of the cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 contains water or other suitable liquid 222 for cooling and/or moistening of the cannabis smoke and removal of ash, tar, and other contaminants; an upper portion serves as a smoke collection reservoir. During playing of the cannabis smoking game, the cannabis can be preloaded into the bowls 211 of the individual specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs 21. Alternatively, during playing of the cannabis smoking game, the cannabis can be loaded at the time a losing player removes the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21 from the gameplay surface and after removal of the funnel attachment.
FIG. 15 shows a perspective view of a specially designed collapsible removable funnel attachment 312 separated from a specially designed collapsible cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31 of another embodiment. The collapsible removable funnel or catch cup attachment 312 is capable of being inserted into the top of the upper portion 315 of the collapsible cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313 of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31. The removable collapsible funnel or catch cup attachment 312 comprises an open top portion 318 with a diameter capable of catching a ball, preferably a ping-pong ball, a table tennis ball, or a perforated hollow ball, more preferably a ping-pong ball, that decreases in diameter to a lower portion 320 having a uniform diameter capable of fitting into the top of the upper portion 315 of the collapsible cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313 of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31. The lower portion of the specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 312 is closed (not shown) to prevent the captured ball from falling into the lower portion of the collapsible cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313 of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31. The specially designed collapsible cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31 having a collapsible cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313 with a diameter at the open end of the upper portion 315 that permits a person to inhale cannabis smoke; the inside lower portion (not shown) of the collapsible cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube is capable of containing a liquid such as water or other suitable liquid capable of cooling and/or moistening the cannabis smoke prior to inhalation; a removable bowl 311 capable of combusting cannabis is fitted into a removable side tube 314 that extends outside the collapsible cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313 at an angle having at the top end the bowl 311 and descending to inside the lower portion (not shown) into the portion capable of containing water or suitable liquid (not shown) of the collapsible cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313; a base 317 to support the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31, wherein the ratio of the height of the cylindrical inhalation chamber to the diameter of the base ranges from about 1.25 to about 1.75, most preferably the ratio is about 1.5.
FIG. 16 shows a perspective view of the specially designed collapsible removable funnel or catch cup attachment 312 inserted into the specially designed collapsible cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31 of the second embodiment. The lower portion 320 of the collapsible removable funnel or catch cup attachment 312 having a closed bottom (not shown) is inserted in the open top portion 315 of the collapsible cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313. The inserted configuration is thus suitable for use in playing the cannabis smoking game.
FIG. 17 shows a perspective view of the specially designed collapsible removable funnel or catch cup attachment 312 in the expanded or extended configuration. The open top portion 318 having a diameter that allows for catching a thrown or bounced ball, preferably a ping-pong ball, a table tennis ball, or a perforated hollow ball, more preferably a ping-pong ball, that decreases in diameter to a lower portion 320 having a uniform diameter capable of fitting into the top open end of the upper portion 315 of a cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313 (not shown) of a collapsible cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31 (not shown). The bottom of the collapsible removable funnel or catch cup attachment 312 is closed to prevent a captured ball from falling into the collapsible cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313 (not shown) of the specially designed collapsible cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31 (not shown).
FIG. 18 shows a perspective view of the specially designed collapsible removable funnel or catch cup attachment 312 in the collapsed configuration suitable for storage of the second embodiment.
FIG. 19 shows an expanded perspective view of a storage arrangement of the components of the specially designed collapsible cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31, the specially designed collapsible removable funnel or catch cup attachment 312 and a lid 40 of a variation of the second embodiment. The removable side tube 314 of the collapsible cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31 is designed to separate into sections with lengths allowing for storage in between the collapsed cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313 and the collapsed removable funnel attachment 312. The removed combustion bowl 311 can also be stored along with the sectioned side tube 314 in between the collapsed cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313 and the collapsed removable funnel attachment 312. The Lid 40 is designed to enclose the storage arrangement of the collapsed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 312, the separated removable side tube 314, the removable combustion bowl 311, and the collapsed cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313.
FIG. 20 shows a perspective view of components of the specially designed collapsible telescopic cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31, the specially designed collapsible removable funnel or catch cup attachment 312 arranged in a fashion suitable for storage. Lid 40 is designed to enclose the storage arrangement of the collapsed removable funnel attachment 312, the separated removable side tube 314, the removable combustion bowl 311, and the collapsed cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313. Not shown, the separated side tube 314 and the removable bowl 311 can be stored separately from the lid 40 enclosed collapsed cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 313 and the collapsed removable funnel attachment 312.
The method of operation of the specially designed collapsible cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31 of the second embodiment is similar to that described above for the first embodiment. The specially designed collapsible removable funnel attachment 312 is removed from the collapsible telescopic cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31 prior to the player inhaling cannabis smoke through the open top end of the upper portion 315 of the collapsible cylindrical inhalation tube or vertical tube 213. The manner in which the player operates the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 31 generally involves the player comfortably placing his or her mouth on the top of the upper portion of the collapsible cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 312 in the extended configuration, followed by igniting with a lighted match, lighter or the like thereto, the cannabis loaded into the combustion bowl 311 and inhaling through their mouth the combusted cannabis smoke (See U.S. Pat. No. 4,216,785). The lower portion of the collapsible cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube 213 contains water or other suitable liquid 222 for cooling and/or moistening of the cannabis smoke and removal of ash, tar, and other contaminants, an upper portion serving as a smoke collection reservoir. During playing of the cannabis smoking game, the cannabis can be preloaded into the bowls 211 of the individual specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs 21. Alternatively, during playing of the cannabis smoking game, the cannabis can be loaded at the time a losing player removes the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 21 from the gameplay surface and after removal of the funnel attachment.
FIG. 21 shows a side view of an embodiment of a specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 41 having a tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413 with a diameter at the open top end 415 that permits a person to inhale cannabis smoke; a bowl 411 capable of combusting cannabis fitted on a metal side tube 414 (not shown) that extends into the portion of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413 that can contain water or other suitable liquid, the portion of the metal side tube 414 (not shown) outside the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413 and enclosed by a bushing 422; a removable base or bottom closure 417 and gasket or seal 423 (not shown) to seal and support the bottom end of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413 of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 41, wherein the angle of the taper of 413 from the bottom to the top is about 10 to 20 degrees, and more preferably about 16.6 degrees; and a specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 412 inserted into the open top of the upper portion 415 of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413. The specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment has an open top 418 with a diameter capable of catching a ball, preferably a ping-pong ball, a table tennis ball, or a perforated hollow ball, more preferably a ping-pong ball, that decreases in diameter to a lower portion 420 having a uniform diameter capable of fitting into the top of the upper portion 415 of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413.
The tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413 when disassembled from the removable base 417, seal 423, metal side tube or down stem 414, bushing 422, and cannabis smoking bowl 411 is designed to allow for stacking with other tapered cylindrical inhalation chambers 413 for storage. The specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment 412 are designed to allow for stacking with each other for storage.
FIG. 22 shows an expanded view of the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 41 and the specially designed removable funnel attachment 412. The specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 41 having a tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413 with an open top end 415 having a diameter permitting a person to inhale cannabis smoke (about 40 to 45 mm) and that allows for attachment of the bottom portion 420 of the specially designed removable funnel attachment 412.
FIG. 23 shows a perspective view of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413 showing the open top end 415, an upwardly directed hole with diameter that the metal side tube 414 (not shown) extends from the outside into the inner bottom portion of chamber 413, a threaded bottom portion 419 capable of allowing attachment of a threaded removable base or bottom closure 417 (not shown) and gasket or seal 423 (not shown) to enclose the chamber. The method of operation of the specially designed tapered cylindrical cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 41 of the third embodiment is similar to that described above for the first and second embodiment. The specially designed removable funnel attachment 412 is removed from the tapered cylindrical cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 41 prior to the player inhaling cannabis smoke through the open top end of the upper portion 415 of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413. The manner in which the player operates the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 41 generally involves the player comfortably placing his or her mouth on the top of the upper portion of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413, followed by igniting with a lighted match, lighter or the like thereto, the cannabis loaded into the combustion bowl 411 and inhaling through the mouth the combusted cannabis smoke (See U.S. Pat. No. 4,216,785). The lower portion of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber 413 with the base or bottom closure 417 attached contains water or other suitable liquid for cooling and/or moistening of the cannabis smoke and removal of ash, tar, and other contaminants, an upper portion serving as a smoke collection reservoir. During playing of the cannabis smoking game, the cannabis can be preloaded into the bowls 411 of the individual specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses or bongs 41. Alternatively, during playing of the cannabis smoking game, the cannabis can be loaded at the time a losing player removes the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong 41 from the gameplay surface and after removal of the funnel attachment 412. The handle 424 when inserted into the combustion bowl 411 allows for easy removal of the combustion bowl 411 from the metal side tube or down stem 414.
All of the component parts of the cannabis smoking apparatus or bong, except for the bowl for combusting cannabis, the metal side tube or stem, the bushing, the bottom gasket, and the metal combustion bowl handle, are preferably made of plastic and can be manufactured utilizing any known molding techniques. Thus, the complete collection of apparatuses can be structurally strong while still being light in weight for easy transport. The specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus or bongs can be made of plastic with coloring added to provide apparatuses of assorted colors. The removable funnel or catch cup is preferably made of plastic and can be manufactured utilizing any known molding technique. The color of the removal funnel or catch cup can be the same or different from the cannabis smoking apparatus or bongs. The bowl is made of any number of materials suitable for combusting cannabis.
In a preferred embodiment, the specially designed cannabis smoking apparatus for use in playing the cannabis smoking game described above comprises: a tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber having a lower portion adapted to contain water or other suitable liquid and an upper portion adapted to form with the surface of the water or suitable liquid; a liquid-free region for collecting and containing smoke; an upwardly directed removable metal side tube having a top end that is disposed outside the chamber and a lower end that is disposed in the interior of the lower portion of the chamber adapted to contain water or suitable liquid therein; an upwardly disposed removable combustion bowl for combusting cannabis attached to the top end of the upwardly directed side tube; and a removable funnel or catch cup attachment having a top portion with a diameter capable of catching a thrown or bounced ball, preferably a ping-bong ball, and a lower portion having a closed bottom and a diameter allowing the removable funnel attachment to fit within the upper portion of the tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber, wherein the cannabis smoking apparatus is used to play a cannabis smoking game.
Cannabis Smoking Game Kits
The cannabis smoking game or Bong Pong can be provided as a kit comprising: optionally, optionally, a rectangular gameplay mat having optionally designed graphics for gameplay on a suitable flat surface; a set of two to twelve, preferably twelve, specially designed cannabis smoking apparatuses, preferably collapsible or tapered; a set of two to twelve, preferably twelve, specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachments, each capable of catching a thrown or bounced ping-pong or table tennis ball; one or more ping-pong or table tennis balls; instructions on playing the game; and optionally a container suitable for storage.
In a another embodiment, the kit for the cannabis smoking game or Bong Pong comprises: optionally, a rectangular gameplay mat having designed graphics for gameplay on a suitable flat surface; a set of twelve specially designed collapsible telescopic cannabis smoking apparatuses with removable side tubes and combustion bowls; a set of twelve specially designed collapsible removable funnel or catch cup attachments, each capable of catching a thrown or bounced ping-pong ball; one or more ping-pong balls; instructions on playing the game; twelve lids, each suitable for enclosing the collapsed form of the removable collapsible funnel or catch cup attachment, the segmented removable side tube and combustion bowl, and the collapsed cylindrical inhalation chamber or vertical tube of the cannabis smoking apparatus; and a optionally container for storage of all the components of the kit.
In a preferred embodiment, the kit for playing a cannabis smoking game comprises: optionally, a foldable rectangular gameplay mat having designed graphics for gameplay on a suitable flat surface; a set of twelve collapsible telescopic inhalation chambers; a set of twelve segmented side tubes and combustion bowls; a set of twelve collapsible telescopic removable funnel or catch cup attachments each capable of catching a thrown or bounced ping-pong ball; one or more ping-pong balls; instructions on playing the game; and optionally twelve lids for enclosing the collapsed configuration of the removable collapsible funnel or catch cup attachments and collapsible inhalation chambers; the segmented side tubes in a folded configuration; and combustion bowl.
In a another embodiment, the kit for the cannabis smoking game or Bong Pong comprises: a set of twelve specially designed tapered cylindrical cannabis smoking apparatuses; a set of twelve specially designed removable catch cup attachments, each capable of catching a thrown or bounced ping-pong ball; one or more ping-pong balls; instructions on playing the game; and optionally a container for storage of all the components of the kit. The tapered cylindrical inhalation chambers and the specially designed removable catch cups allow for stacking for storage.

- Example 1. Specially Designed Cannabis Smoking Apparatus. The apparatus, except for the cannabis combustion bowl and metal side tube, is manufactured by methods well known to a person skilled in the art, with plastic as the construction material. The cannabis combustion bowl is obtained from commercial sources and made of material suitable for combusting cannabis. The total height of the cylindrical Inhalation chamber and base is about 6.24 inches, the diameter of the cylindrical inhalation chamber is about 2.47 inches, the diameter of the base of the cylindrical inhalation chamber is about 4.00 inches.
- Example 2. Specially Designed Removable Funnel or Catch Cup Attachment. The funnel or catch cup attachment is manufactured by methods well known to a person skilled in the art with plastic as the construction material. The total height of the funnel attachment is about 5.11 inches with the open top having a diameter of about 4.06 inches. The lower portion of the funnel attachment has a constant diameter of about 2.15 inches and a height of about 2.00 inches.
- Example 3. Combined Specially Designed Cannabis Smoking Apparatus and Specially Designed Removable Funnel or Catch Cup Attachment. The specially designed removable funnel or catch cup attachment having a height of about 5.11 inches with a lower portion having a height of about 2.00 inches and a uniform diameter of about 2.15 inches is operationally inserted into the top portion of the cylindrical inhalation chamber having a height of 6.24 inches and diameter in the upper portion of about 2.57 inches. The combined height of the cannabis smoking apparatus with fitted specially designed removable funnel or catch cup is about 9.35 inches.
- Example 4. Specially Designed Collapsible Cannabis Smoking Apparatus. The apparatus, except for the cannabis combustion bowl and the metal side tube, is manufactured by methods well known to a person skilled in the art, with plastic as the construction material. The cannabis combustion bowl is obtained from commercial sources and made of material suitable for combusting cannabis. The total height of the cannabis smoking apparatus is about 5.75 inches in the extended configuration, the diameter at the top end is about 2.0 inches and the diameter of the base of the cylindrical inhalation chamber is about 3.75 inches.
- Example 5. Specially Designed Collapsible Removable Funnel or Catch Cup Attachment. The funnel attachment is manufactured by methods well known to a person skilled in the art with plastic as the construction material. The total height of the funnel attachment in the extended configuration is about 2.9 inches with the open top having a diameter of about 3.5 inches. The lower portion of the funnel attachment has a constant diameter of about 1.75 inches.
- Example 6. Specially Designed Tapered Cannabis Smoking Apparatus. The apparatus, except for the cannabis combustion bowl, the metal side tube, and the metal sleeve, is manufactured by methods well known to a person skilled in the art, with plastic as the construction material. The cannabis combustion bowl is obtained from commercial sources and made of material suitable for combusting cannabis. The tapered cylindrical inhalation chamber has a height of about 149 mm from the bottom to the top. The bottom, about 9 mm of the tapered inhalation chamber, is threaded. The hole for insertion of the metal side tube in the tapered inhalation chamber is about 45 mm from the bottom. The diameter at the bottom of the inhalation chamber is about 85 mm. The diameter at the top is about 45 mm. The angle of taper of the tapered inhalation chamber from vertical is about 16.6 degrees. The removable base has a diameter of about 85 mm. The gasket that seals the bottom of the tapered inhalation chamber and the removable base has a inner diameter of about 76 mm and an outer diameter of about 82 mm. The combustion bowl has a diameter at the top of about 17 mm and a tube at the bottom of a diameter of about 5.50 mm. The metal side tube or down stem has a length of about 83 mm and an outer diameter of about 8.8 mm. The top portion 10 mm of the metal side tube or down stem as an inner diameter of about 6 mm while the inner diameter below the top portion is about 73 mm.
- Example 7. Specially Designed Removable Funnel or Catch Cup Attachment. The funnel or catch cup attachment is manufactured by methods well known to a person skilled in the art with plastic as the construction material. The diameter of the open bottom is about 36.5 mm while the top opening has a diameter of about 92 mm. The height of the funnel is about 82 mm.
- Example 8. Instructions for Playing Bong Pong.
1. Get Ready
Assemble and organize the bongs on a flat surface, 6 bongs per side. Fill the green Catch Cups halfway with water (or don't for added difficulty) and don't forget to pack each bowl with a pinch of your favorite . . . well . . . stuff! If you found this difficult then hold off on smoking until the game begins.
2. Team Up
Bong Pong is generally played with teams of two but can be played one-on-one as well. Choose wisely when teaming up . . . if your partner can't hang, you may go up in smoke.
3. Let the Games Begin
Each team has two chances to bounce or throw a ball into one of the opposing team's bongs. Feel free to apply your crew's favorite pong rules (redemption, overtime, re-racks, etc.) as you see fit.
4. Smoke Break
When your opponent lands a shot in one of your team's bong, remove the catch cup, take a hit from the bong, and move it out of the playing field.
5. Final Hit
When one team hits all of the other team's bongs, the game is over, and they're crowned the winners. But hey, is there ever really a loser in Bong Pong?
