Claims
- 1. A cannister rotation mechanism for the collection of textile material from a carding machine or the like comprising, in combination:
- a frame;
- a housing rotatably mounted on said frame;
- a turntable on said housing for supporting a cannister having a movable bottom, said cannister bottom being movable vertically between an upper position and a lower position during the filling of said cannister with said textile material;
- means for rotating said housing;
- means supported at its lower end on said housing for yieldingly urging said cannister bottom into said upper position and drive means supported in said housing;
- means for operatively connecting said drive means to the upper end of said urging means for lowering said cannister bottom against the force of said urging means during the filling of said cannister with said textile material.
- 2. A cannister rotation mechanism in accordance with claim 1, wherein said urging means includes a cannister bottom support member supported on the upper end of said urging means in underlying engagement with said cannister bottom.
- 3. A cannister rotaion mechanism in accordance with claim 2 wherein said drive means includes power operated winch means disposed in said housing, and wherein said means for operatively connecting said drive means to the upper end of said urging means comprise flexible actuator means connected to said cannister bottom support member.
- 4. A cannister rotation mechanism in accordance with claim 3, wherein said urging means comprises a spiral spring.
- 5. A cannister rotation mechanism in accordance with claim 4, wherein said housing is of cup-shape including a bottom wall and a side wall having an upper edge defining an interior and wherein said turntable comprises an annular member supported on said side wall upper edge and extending radially outward from said housing side wall for supporting engagement with the bottom edge portion of said cannister and wherein said winch means and said spiral spring lower end are supported on said housing bottom wall.
- 6. A cannister rotation mechanism in accordance with claim 5, wherein said cannister bottom support member comprises a disk.
- 7. A cannister rotation mechanism in accordance with claim 6, wherein said flexible actuator means comprises a cable, said cable being connected at one end centrally to the underside of said disk.
