Claims
- 1. A capped shank button comprising:
- a planar head portion having a solid imperforate shape having a first surface facing downwardly and a second surface facing upwardly;
- a leg portion extending downwardly in perpendicular fashion from said head portion from said first surface; and
- a plastic cap portion molded onto said head portion completely covering said second surface and at least partially covering said first surface.
- 2. A capped shank button according to claim 1, wherein said head portion is metallic.
- 3. A capped shank button according to claim 1, wherein said leg portion is metallic.
- 4. A capped shank button according to claim 1, wherein said leg portion comprises a pair of prongs extending from said head portion.
- 5. A capped shank button comprising:
- a planar head portion having a solid imperforate shape having a first surface facing downwardly and a second surface facing upwardly;
- a single hollow leg portion extending downwardly in perpendicular fashion from said head portion from said first surface; and
- a plastic cap portion molded onto said head portion completely covering said second surface and at least partially covering said first surface.
- 6. A capped shank comprising:
- a planar head portion having a solid imperforate shape having a first surface facing downwardly and a second surface facing upwardly wherein said head portion comprises a middle portion and at least one offset wing portion, said offset wing portion extending outwardly from said middle portion and providing a first portion of said first surface set back from a second portion of said first surface arranged on said middle portion;
- a leg portion extending downwardly in perpendicular fashion from said head portion from said first surface; and
- a plastic cap portion molded onto said head portion completely covering said second surface and at least partially covering said first surface.
- 7. A capped shank according to claim 6, wherein said leg portion extends from said middle portion and said plastic cap portion covers said first portion of said first surface arranged on said offset wing portion.
- 8. A capped shank comprising:
- a head portion having a solid imperforate shape having a first surface facing downwardly and a second surface facing upwardly wherein said head portion comprises a middle portion and two offset wing portions arranged extending outwardly from said middle portion in opposite directions and providing a first portion of said first surface set back from a second portion of said first surface arranged on said middle portion;
- a leg portion extending downwardly in perpendicular fashion from said middle portion of said head portion from said first surface; and
- a plastic cap portion molded onto said head portion completely covering said second surface and at least partially covering said first surface, said plastic cap portion covers first portions of said first surface arranged on both said offset wing portions.
- 9. A capped shank according to claim 8, wherein said leg portion comprises a pair of prongs each extending from said middle portion.
- 10. A capped shank comprising:
- a head portion having a generally planar shape with an upwardly offset middle portion having a hole therethrough;
- a plurality of leg portions extending downwardly in perpendicular fashion from said head portion; and
- a plastic cap portion covering an upward facing side of said head portion extending through said hole and covering at least a downward facing side of said offset middle portion.
- 11. A capped shank according to claim 10, wherein said plastic cap covers all exposed portions of said head portion.
- 12. A capped shank button comprising:
- a planar head portion;
- a leg portion, mounted to said head portion, said head portion comprising a flange extending radially from said leg portion to a first diameter and then offset away from a distal end of said leg to a second diameter; and
- a plastic cap portion molded onto said head portion covering said offset portion of said flange at least partially between said first diameter and said second diameter.
- 13. A capped shank according to claim 12, wherein said leg portion comprises a hollow member surrounded by said flange, and said head portion further comprises a closure cap mounted to said flange and covering a root end of said leg.
- 14. A capped shank according to claim 13, wherein said closure cap overlies said flange and is folded over said outer diameter of said flange to hold said closure cap onto said flange.
- 15. A capped shank button according to claim 1, wherein said plastic cap portion covers all exposed portions of said first surface.
