Claims
- 1. At least one compound defined according to the structure: ##STR104## wherein R.sub.2 is hydrogen and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 represent hydrogen or methyl; and wherein R.sub.5 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 lower alkyl.
- 2. The process for preparing a compound defined according to claim 1 comprising rearranging a norbornane derivative according to the reaction step: ##STR105## using a rearrangement agent; wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each represent hydrogen or methyl and wherein R.sub.5 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 lower alkyl at a temperature in the range of from about 0.degree. C. up to about 15.degree. C. in the presence of an inert solvent.
- 3. The process of claim 2 wherein the rearrangement agent is boron trifluoride diethyl ether complex and the reaction is carried out in the presence of a solvent selected from the group consisting of toluene and xylene.
