Claims
- 1. A carbonless paper solvent comprising approximately 75% to 95% by weight diisopropylmethylnaphthalene and approximately 5% to 25% by weight triisopropylmethylnaphthalene.
- 2. The carbonless paper solvent as set forth in claim 1, wherein isopropylmethylnaphthalene is present in an amount of between 0% and approximately 1% by weight.
- 3. The carbonless paper solvent as set forth in claim 2, comprising approximately 78% diisopropylmethylnaphthalene, less than approximately 1% isopropylmethylnaphthalene, and approximately 16% triisopropylmethylnaphthalene.
- 4. A carbonless paper solvent comprising:
- 100 parts by weight of a first component comprising diisopropylmethylnaphthalene in an amount of between approximately 75% and 95% by weight of the first component and triisopropylmethylnaphthalene in an amount of between approximately 5% and 25% by weight of the first component; and
- 0 to 100 parts by weight of a second component comprising a diluent.
- 5. The carbonless paper solvent as set forth in claim 4, wherein said first component includes isopropylmethylnaphthalene in an amount of between 0% and 1% by weight of the first component.
- 6. The carbonless paper solvent as set forth in claim 4, wherein said diluent is an alkyl substituted naphthalene containing a total of 6 to 10 carbon atoms in the alkyl substitutions.
- 7. Microcapsules for making a carbonless paper, said microcapsules containing therein:
- a solvent comprising diisopropylmethylnaphthalene in an amount of between approximately 75% and 95% triisopropylmethylnaphthalene in an amount of between approximately 5% and 25% of the total weight of the solvent; and
- a chromogenic material solubilized in said solvent.
- 8. The microcapsules as set forth in claim 7, wherein said solvent comprises 75 to 95% by weight diisopropylmethylnaphthalene, 0 to 1% by weight isopropylmethylnaphthalene, and 5 to 25% by weight triisopropylmethylnaphthalene.
- 9. The microcapsules as set forth in claim 7, comprising 100 parts diisopropylmethylnaphthalene and 0.1 to 15 parts chromogenic material.
- 10. The microcapsules as set forth in claim 7, comprising 100 parts diisopropylmethylnaphthalene and 1 to 8 parts chromogenic material.
- 11. The microcapsules as set forth in claim 10, including 20 to 80 parts of a third component comprising a diluent contained in said microcapsules.
- 12. The microcapsules as set forth in claim 11, wherein said diluent is selected from the group consisting of kerosine, linear alkanes, alkylbenzenes, mineral oils, diaryl methanes and other alkyl derivatives thereof, and alkyl substituted naphthalenes containing a total of 6 to 10 carbon atoms in the alkyl substitutions.
