- 2. Carousel apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein said turntable means includes at least three upstanding drive pins disposed around its perimeter, and wherein said magazine includes pin-receiving apertures formed in the bottom surface thereof for engagement by said drive pins.
- 3. Carousel apparatus as recited in claim 2 wherein said turntable means includes a concentrically disposed support ring and said cartridge-loading/unloading means includes a circular base rotatably engaged with and supported by said support ring.
- 4. Carousel apparatus as recited in claim 3 wherein said cartridge loading/unloading means further includes a grabber means having a plurality of pivotable fingers adapted to selectively grip or push a cartridge, and carriage means for moving said grabber means along said radial lines so that said fingers can be caused to push a cartridge out of said magazine or pull a cartridge into said magazine.
- 5. Carousel apparatus as recited in claim 4 wherein said grabber means includes an upstanding support for supporting an actuator, an outwardly extending arm for pivotably supporting said fingers, and a puller bar connecting said actuator to said fingers, said actuator being operative to rotate said fingers between a gripping configuration and a non-gripping configuration.
- 6. Carousel apparatus as recited in claim 5 wherein said cartridge-loading/unloading means further includes a rack and pinion drive means for moving said grabber means relative to said circular base.
- 7. Carousel apparatus as recited in claim 1 and further comprising means for determining a rotary position of said turntable means.
- 8. Carousel apparatus as recited in claim 7 and further comprising means for determining a rotary position of said cartridge-loading/unloading means.
- 9. Carousel apparatus as recited in claim 8 and further comprising means for determining whether or not a particular slot in said magazine means is occupied by a cartridge.
- 10. A carousel apparatus as recited in claim 1 wherein said annular magazine is comprised of:
- means forming an annular body having a plurality of cartridge-receiving slots oriented to lie along radial lines emanating from a central axis of the body, said slots being arrayed in an annular band surrounding said axis and defining a central chamber, said body being formed by a pair of identical top and bottom molded parts, each having cartridge-receiving slot-defining guide means and elongated stand-off means integrally formed in a first side thereof, said first sides being disposed in facing relationship and the distal ends of said stand-off means being mated together.
- 11. A carousel apparatus as recited in claim 10, and further comprising resilient retainer means for engaging and holding a cartridge disposed in each slot.
- 12. A carousel apparatus as recited in claim 11, wherein said resilient retainer means includes an annular ring having a plurality of resilient fingers extending radially inwardly, each of said fingers being associated with one of said slots.
- 13. A carousel apparatus as recited in claim 12, wherein at least one of said top and bottom molded parts includes a plurality of openings each extending into one of said slots and further comprising a plurality of rollers, each of which is disposed in one of said openings and is engaged by one of said fingers to form said resilient retainer means.
- 14. A carousel apparatus as recited in claim 13, wherein a second side of said top and bottom molded parts has a plurality of radially elongated slotted holes extending thereinto around the periphery thereof for engagement by drive pins.
- 15. A carousel apparatus as recited in claim 10 wherein the distal ends of each said standoff are configured so that when mated together the top molded part will have a predetermined relationship to the bottom molded part.
- 16. A carousel apparatus as recited in claim 15 wherein said top and bottom molded parts each have an index slot formed in the outer perimeter thereof, the index slot in at least one of the molded parts being used as reference from which the several cartridge-receiving slots can be identified.
- 17. A carousel apparatus as recited in claim 16 and further comprising a circular top affixed to said top molded part, said circular top including a tab for mating with the index slot of said top molded part to determine its alignment therewith, said circular top further including cartridge-receiving slot identifying indicia.
- 18. A cartridge magazine for use in a carousel apparatus comprising:
- means forming an annular body having a plurality of cartridge-receiving slots oriented to lie along radial lines emanating from a central axis of the body, said slots being arrayed in an annular band surrounding said axis and defining a central chamber, said body being formed by a pair of identical top and bottom molded parts, each having cartridge-receiving slot-defining guide means and elongated stand-off means integrally formed in a first side thereof, said first sides being disposed in facing relationship and the distal ends of said stand-off means being mated together.
- 19. A cartridge magazine as recited in claim 18, and further comprising resilient retainer means for engaging and holding a cartridge disposed in each slot.
- 20. A cartridge magazine as recited in claim 19, wherein said resilient retainer means includes an annular ring having a plurality of resilient fingers extending radially inwardly, each of said fingers being associated with one of said slots.
- 21. A cartridge magazine as recited in claim 20, wherein at least one of said top and bottom molded parts includes a plurality of openings each extending into one of said slots and further comprising a plurality of rollers, each of which is disposed in one of said openings and is engaged by one of said fingers to form said resilient retainer means.
