Claims
- 1. A device for applying a carrier tape cover strip to a base strip, said cover strip having a top surface with a longitudinally extending hump projecting upwardly therefrom and sidewalls extending parallel to said hump extending downwardly from said top surface; said device comprising:
- a guide for receiving said base strip; and
- a feed channel member overlying said guide for receiving said cover strip and feeding said cover strip into a position over said base strip, said feed channel member including an inner face contoured to receive said cover strip including a channel to receive said hump and means for exerting a downward force on said hump as said cover strip passes through said feed channel member, said force exerting means including a rod extending through said channel, such that the downward force exerted on the hump can be varied by adjusting the extent of said rod extending through said channel.
- 2. The device in accordance with claim 1 wherein said base strip includes a plurality of longitudinally spaced component cavities and said guide includes a grooved central portion to receive said cavities.
- 3. A device for applying a carrier tape cover strip to a base strip, said cover strip having a top surface with a longitudinally extending hump projecting upwardly therefrom and sidewalls extending parallel to said hump extending downwardly from said top surface; said device comprising:
- a guide for receiving said base strip; and
- a feed channel member overlying said guide for receiving said cover strip and feeding said cover strip into a position over said base strip, said feed channel member including an inner face contoured to receive said cover strip including a channel to receive said hump and means for exerting a downward force on said hump as said cover strip passes through said feed channel member, said force exerting means including a screw extending through said channel, such that the downward force exerted on the hump can be varied by adjusting the extent of said screw extending through said channel.
- 4. The device in accordance with claim 3 wherein said base strip includes a plurality of longitudinally spaced component cavities and said guide includes a grooved central portion to receive said cavities.
- 5. A device for applying a carrier tape cover strip to a base strip, said cover strip having a top surface with a longitudinally extending hump projecting upwardly therefrom and sidewalls extending parallel to said hump extending downwardly from said top surface; said device comprising:
- a guide for receiving said base strip; said guide including a top surface for supporting said base strip and a pair of opposed sidewalls spaced outwardly of said top surface each of said sidewalls including a top section tapered upwardly toward the other sidewall; and
- a feed channel member overlying said guide for receiving said cover strip and feeding said cover strip into a position over said base strip, said feed channel member including an inner face contoured to receive said cover strip including a channel to receive said hump and means for exerting a downward force on said hump as said cover strip passes through said feed channel member.
- 6. A device for applying a carrier tape cover strip to a base strip, said cover strip having a top surface with a longitudinally extending hump projecting upwardly therefrom and sidewalls extending parallel to said hump extending downwardly from said top surface; said device comprising:
- a guide for receiving said base strip; including a top face for supporting said base strip and a pair of opposed sidewalls spaced outwardly of said top face, each of said sidewalls including a top section tapered outwardly toward the other sidewall; and
- a feed channel member overlying said guide for receiving said cover strip and feeding said cover strip into a position over said base strip, said feed channel member including an inner face contoured to receive said cover strip including a channel to receive said hump and means for exerting a downward force on said hump as said cover strip passes through said feed channel member, wherein said channel is defined by an upper surface which tapers downwardly in a feeding direction of said cover strip, such that said upper surface exerts said downward force on said cover strip.
- 7. A device for applying a carrier tape cover strip to a base strip, said cover strip having a top surface with a longitudinally extending hump projecting upwardly therefrom and sidewalls extending parallel to said hump extending downwardly from said top surface; said device comprising:
- a guide for receiving said base strip wherein said base strip includes a plurality of longitudinally spaced component cavities and said guide includes a grooved central portion to receive said cavities and a top face for supporting said base strip and a pair of opposed sidewalls spaced outwardly of said top face, each of said sidewalls including a top section tapered outwardly toward the other sidewall;
