- sources for generating first and second signals; and
- whereby upon receipt of said first signal, said first fork moves to said second position whereat said operator grabs and lifts the last of said predetermined number of imbricated articles to place all of said predetermined number of articles on edge and against said first fork, and upon receipt of said second signal, said second fork moves to said second position thereby holding said grasped and lifted articles between said first and second forks allowing said operator to release said last article.
- 11. The apparatus according to claim 10, wherein the distance between said first and second forks can be varied to allow for the grouping of different predetermined numbers of articles on edge.
- 12. The apparatus according to claim 10, further comprising a source for generating a third signal causing said first and second fork mechanisms to move said group of articles downstream until they are under said case unfolding mechanism.
- 13. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said third signal also operates a squeezing mechanism for reducing the distance between said first and second forks and therefore squeezing said group of articles.
- 14. A method of casing articles, comprising the steps of:
- providing a source of incoming imbricated articles;
- forming said imbricated articles into a group of a predetermined number of articles standing on edge;
