Claims
- 1. A mechanism for loading a container into an operative relationship with a machine for dispensing contents of the container for use by the machine, comprising:
- a base adapted for being fixedly mounted on a machine;
- a holder having guide means for releasably holding a container, said holder having one end pivotally connected to said base for pivoting about an axis for moving the container between a first position and a second position, said guide means constructed so as to releasably hold the container at said first position and constructed such that when in said second position the container is placed in an operative relationship with the machine; and
- linkage means connecting said base and said holder for causing translational movement of said holder along the pivot axis as said holder is pivoted between the first and second positions.
- 2. A mechanism as recited in claim 1, wherein said holder includes at least one guide for releasably holding the container.
- 3. A mechanism as recited in claim 1, wherein said linkage means has one end connected to said holder at a point disposed radially away from said pivot axis, and wherein said linkage means has another end connected to said base at a position disposed both axially and radially away from where said holder one end is pivotally connected to said base.
- 4. A mechanism as recited in claim 1, wherein said pivot axis comprises a longitudinal rod and a compression spring fixable along said longitudinal rod, such that the translational movement of the holder along the axis between the first and second positions releasably compresses the spring.
- 5. A mechanism as recited in claim 4, wherein said holder includes a bore through said one end for pivoting about said pivot axis.
- 6. A mechanism as recited in claim 1, wherein said linkage means is located at a distance from said pivot axis.
- 7. A mechanism as recited in claim 6, wherein said linkage means includes a support attached to said base; first and second rotatable members each having a rotatably mountable end and a free end, said rotatably mountable end of said first member being mounted to said support and said rotatably mountable end of said second member being mounted to said holder; and a blade having first and second ends, said first and second blade ends being pivotally connected between respective free ends of said first and second members.
- 8. A mechanism as recited in claim 7, wherein said blade is parallel to and offset from the pivot axis when said holder is in said second position.
- 9. A mechanism as recited in claim 7, wherein said free ends each include a slot disposed for pivotally mounting said blade.
