Claims
- 1. A catalyst composition suitable for the vapor-phase oxidation of methacrolein to produce methacrylic acid consisting essentially of the oxides of molybdenum, copper, phosphorus, antimony, and calcium and having the formula Mo.sub.a Cu.sub.b P.sub.c Sb.sub.d Ca.sub.e O.sub.f, where a=12; b=0.05-3; c=0.1-5; d=0.1-0.5; e=0.1-6; and f=value determined by the valence and proportions of the other elements of the formula.
