Claims
- 1. A catalytic reactor for intensification of reactions between specified reacting substances, comprising a catalyst supporting structure having small cross sectional area passages for flow of said reacting substances, with the catalytic material being attached to internal surfaces of said passages and interfacing with said reacting substances, wherein the contact areas between said catalytic material and said reacting substances is subjected to intentionally generated mechanical vibratory motions.
- 2. A catalytic reactor of claim 1, wherein said mechanical vibratory motions are embodied as traveling waves along walls of said passages.
- 3. A catalytic reactor of claim 1, wherein said mechanical vibratory motions are intentionally generated ultrasonic vibrations of said supporting structure.
- 4. A catalytic reactor of claim 3, wherein said mechanical vibratory motions have one frequency.
- 5. A catalytic reactor of claim 3, wherein said mechanical vibratory motions have frequency between 20 and 100 KHz
- 6. A catalytic reactor of claim 3, wherein said mechanical vibratory motions have more than one frequency
- 7. A catalytic reactor of claim 1, wherein said mechanical vibratory motions are intentionally generated ultrasonic variations of the flow velocity of at least one of said reacting substances.
- 8. A catalytic reactor of claim 7, wherein said intentionally generated ultrasonic variations of the flow velocity of at least one of said reacting substances have frequency between 20 and 1000 KHz.
- 9. A catalytic reactor of claim 1, wherein said mechanical vibratory motions are generated by vibration exciters attached to said catalyst-supporting structure.
- 10. A catalytic reactor of claim 1, wherein at least one exciter generating said mechanical vibratory motions is placed outside said catalytic reactor and is connected to said catalytic reactor by a waveguide.
- 11. A catalytic reactor of claim 3, wherein said ultrasonic mechanical vibratory motions have both longitudinal and transverse components in relation to flows of said reacting substances.
