Claims
- 1. A cathode ray tube comprising:
- a panel having a light transmittance of about 90%;
- a phosphor screen formed of a phosphor layer having at least two different color phosphors at separate locations of said screen, and a color filter layer having at least two different color filters aligned with corresponding color phosphors at said locations, each of said color filters comprising a filter coating film which transmits light of the color of its corresponding phosphor, said phosphor screen being formed on an inner surface of said panel, wherein said color filter layer is formed between said phosphor layer and the inner surface of said panel; and
- at least one of said two different color filters comprising a fine particle inorganic pigment having a specific surface area of 40 m.sup.2 /g or greater.
- 2. A cathode ray tube according to claim 1, wherein said two different color phosphors are two different primary colors, and said color filters are corresponding primary colors.
- 3. The cathode ray tube according to claim 1, wherein said color phosphors are three primary colors, and said color filters are corresponding primary colors.
- 4. The cathode ray tube according to claim 1, wherein said color phosphors are arranged in elongate strips, and said color filters are arranged in elongate strips overlying the phosphor strips.
- 5. The cathode ray tube according to claim 1, including a layer of light absorbing material between said separate locations.
- 6. The cathode ray tube according to claim 1 wherein the fine particle inorganic pigment is a blue pigment.
- 7. The cathode ray tube according to claim 6 wherein the fine particle inorganic blue pigment is Daipyroxide blue.
