Claims
- 1. In a process for prevention of corrosion of metal structures wherein an electric current is passed between an anode and the metal structure, the improvement which comprises using as said anode a sintered body comprised of a mixture of iron oxide of 90 to 55 mol % in terms of Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 and a metal oxide of 10 to 45 mol % in terms of MO, wherein M is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Mn, Ni, Co, Cu and Zn.
- 2. A process according to claim 1 wherein said sintered body is prepared by heating a shaped body at a temperature varying between 1100.degree. C. and 1450.degree. C.
- 3. A process according to claim 1 wherein said mixture comprises Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 and NiO.
- 4. A process according to claim 3 wherein the mol % of Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 to NiO varies from about 90:10 to about 55:45.
- 5. A process according to claim 3 wherein the mol % of Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 to NiO is about 60:40.
- 6. A process according to claim 1 wherein said mixture comprises Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 and CoO.
- 7. A process according to claim 6 wherein the mol % of Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 to CoO to about 90:10.
- 8. A process according to claim 1 wherein said mixture comprises Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3, MnO, CoO and ZnO.
- 9. A process according to claim 8 wherein said mixture comprises 60 mol % Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3, 10 mol % MnO, 15 mol % CoO and 15 mol % ZnO.
- 10. A process according to claim 1 wherein said mixture comprises Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3, MnO, CuO and NiO.
- 11. A process according to claim 10 wherein said mixture comprises 60 mol % Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3, 10 mol % MnO, 10 mol % CuO and 20 mol % NiO.
- 12. A process according to claim 1 wherein said sintered body is a solid solution of (1) MFe.sub.2 O.sub.4 wherein M is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Mn, Ni, Co, Cu and Zn of 15.79 to 87.1 mol % and (2) Fe.sub.3 O.sub.4 of 84.21 to 12.9 mol %.
