Claims
- 1. A system for storing, mixing and discharging dry cement material and operable to minimize separation of said dry cement material by at least one of elutriation and percolation, said system comprising:
- a plurality of cement storage bins, each having a material receiving chamber and means forming a bottom discharge opening for discharging dry cement material therefrom, respectively;
- plural mechanical screw conveyors including at least one mechanical screw conveyor connected to each of said bins, respectively, and in communication with said bottom discharge opening for mechanically conveying dry cement material away from said bins, respectively;
- plural pneumatic conveying means including at least one pneumatic conveying means connected to each of said mechanical conveyors for receiving dry cement material therefrom, respectively, and including a material fluidizing plenum and means for introducing pressure air into said plenum for conveying dry cement material from said mechanical conveyor to a common material discharge conduit;
- a generally vertically extending dry cement material common discharge conduit disposed adjacent to and in communication with each of said pneumatic conveying means, respectively, for receiving fluidized dry cement material;
- material loading conduits connected to said common discharge conduit and to each of said bins, respectively, for circulating fluidized dry cement material to selected ones of said bins to selectively load dry cement material and said selected ones of said bins and to re-mix said dry cement material to minimize the effects of said one of elutriation and percolation during loading and storage of said dry cement material in said selected ones of said bins; and
- a final discharge conduit connected to said common discharge conduit for conducting dry cement material from said system.
- 2. The system set forth in claim 1 including:
- dry cement material distributing means disposed on each of said bins and connected to said material loading conduits, respectively for substantially uniformly distributing said dry cement material into said bins, respectively, during circulation to said selected ones of said bins, said distributing means comprising a generally cylindrical housing, a material inlet duct arranged to introduce dry cement material into said housing generally tangentially with respect to a central axis of said housing, and an air vent conduit extending within said housing and generally centrally thereof for venting material conveying air from said housing.
- 3. The system set forth in claim 1 wherein:
- said conveyor screw extends substantially across said bottom opening and includes a tapered flight which is tapered with respect to the axis of rotation of said screw in such a way as to withdraw dry cement material from said chamber substantially uniformly thereacross so as to re-mix particles of dry cement material of at least one of a different size and density and which have been separated in said chamber due to said at least one of elutriation and percolation.
- 4. A system for storing, mixing and discharging dry cement material and operable to minimize separation of said dry cement material by at least one of elutriation and percolation, said system comprising:
- a plurality of cement storage bins, each having a material receiving chamber and means forming a bottom discharge opening for discharging dry cement material therefrom, respectively;
- plural mechanical conveyors including at least one mechanical conveyor connected to each of said bins, respectively, and in communication with said bottom discharge opening for mechanically conveying dry cement material away from said bins, respectively;
- plural pneumatic conveyor means including at least one pneumatic conveyor means connected to each of said mechanical conveyors, respectively, for receiving dry cement material therefrom, respectively, and for pneumatically conveying dry cement material to a common material discharge conduit;
- a common dry cement material discharge conduit in communication with each of said pneumatic conveyor means, respectively, for receiving fluidized dry cement material;
- material loading conduits connected to said common discharge conduit and to each of said bins, respectively, for circulating fluidized dry cement material to selected ones of said bins to selectively load dry cement material into said selected ones of said bins and to re-mix said dry cement material to minimize the effects of said one of elutriation and percolation during loading and storage of said dry cement material in said selected ones of said bins;
- dry cement material distributing means disposed on each of said bins and connected to said material loading conduits, respectively, for substantially uniformly distributing said dry cement material into said bins, respectively, during circulation to said selected ones of said bins, said distributing means comprising a generally cylindrical housing, a material inlet duct arranged to introduce dry cement material into said housing generally tangentially with respect to a central axis of said housing, and an air vent conduit extending within said housing and generally centrally thereof for venting material conveying air from said housing; and
- a final discharge conduit connected to said common discharge conduit for conducting dry cement material from said system.
- 5. A system for storing, mixing and discharging dry cement material and operable to minimize separation of said dry cement material by at least one of elutriation and percolation, said system comprising:
- a plurality of cement storage bins, each having a material receiving chamber and means forming a bottom discharge opening for discharging dry cement material therefrom, respectively;
- plural mechanical conveyors including at least one mechanical conveyor connected to each of said bins, respectively, and in communication with said bottom discharge opening for mechanically conveying dry cement material away from said bins, respectively;
- plural pneumatic conveyor means including at least one pneumatic conveyor means connected to each of said mechanical conveyors, respectively, for receiving dry cement material therefrom, respectively, and for pneumatically conveying dry cement material to a common material discharge conduit;
- a common dry cement material discharge conduit in communication with each of said pneumatic conveyor means, respectively, for receiving fluidized dry cement material;
- each of said pneumatic conveyor means comprising a material fluidizing plenum including means for introducing pressure air into said plenum for conveying dry cement material from said mechanical conveyor to said common discharge conduit;
- material loading conduits connected to said common discharge conduit and to each of said bins, respectively, for circulating fluidized dry cement material to selected ones of said bins to selectively load dry cement material into said selected ones of said bins and to re-mix said dry cement material to minimize the effects of said one of elutriation and percolation during loading and storage of said dry cement material in said selected ones of said bins; and
- a final discharge conduit connected to said common discharge conduit for conducting dry cement material from said system.
- 6. A system for storing, mixing and discharging dry cement material and operable to minimize separation of said dry cement material by at least one of elutriation and percolation, said system comprising:
- a plurality of cement storage bins, each having a material receiving chamber and means forming a bottom discharge opening for discharging dry cement material therefrom, respectively;
- plural mechanical conveyors including at least one mechanical conveyor connected to each of said bins, respectively, and in communication with said bottom discharge opening for mechanically conveying dry cement material away from said bins, respectively;
- plural pneumatic conveyor means including at least one pneumatic conveyor means connected to each of said mechanical conveyors, respectively, for receiving dry cement material therefrom, respectively, and for pneumatically conveying dry cement material to a common material discharge conduit;
- a common dry cement material discharge conduit in communication with each of said pneumatic conveyor means, respectively, for receiving fluidized dry cement material;
- material loading conduits connected to said common discharge conduit and to each of said bins, respectively, for circulating fluidized dry cement material to selected ones of said bins to selectively load dry cement material into said selected ones of said bins and to re-mix said dry cement material to minimize the effects of said one of elutriation and percolation during loading and storage of said dry cement material in said selected ones of said bins;
- a material loading conduit connected to said common discharge conduit for loading dry cement material initially into said system; and
- a final discharge conduit connected to said common discharge conduit for conducting dry cement material from said system.
- 7. A system for storing, mixing and discharging dry cement material and operable to minimize separation of said dry cement material by at least one of elutriation and percolation, said system comprising:
- a plurality of cement storage bins, each having a material receiving chamber and means forming a bottom discharge oepning for discharging dry cement material therefrom, respectively;
- plural mechanical conveyors including at least one mechanical conveyor connected to each of said bins, respectively, and in communication with said bottom discharge opening for mechanically conveying dry cement material away from said bins, respectively, said mechanical conveyors each comprising a conveyor screw extending substantially across said bottom opening and having a tapered flight which is tapered with respect to the axis of rotation of said screw in such a way as to withdraw dry cement material from said chamber substantially uniformly thereacross so as to re-mix particles of dry cement material of at least one of a different size and density and which have been separated in said chamber due to said at least one of elutriation and percolation;
- plural pneumatic conveyor means including at least one pneumatic conveyor means connected to each of said mechanical conveyors, respectively, for receiving dry cement material therefrom, respectively, and for pneumatically conveying dry cement material to a common material discharge conduit;
- a common dry cement material discharge conduit in communication with each of said pneumatic conveyor means, respectively, for receiving fluidized dry cement material;
- material loading conduits connected to said common discharge conduit and to each of said bins, respectively, for circulating fluidized dry cement material to selected ones of said bins to selectively load dry cement material into said selected ones of said bins and to re-mix said dry cement material to minimize the effects of said one of elutriation and percolation during loading and storage of said dry cement material in said selected ones of said bins; and
- a final discharge conduit connected to said common discharge conduit for conducting dry cement material from said system.
