Claims
- 1. An apparatus comprising:a centrifuge having a first scraping blade and a second scraping blade rotating around a longitudinal axis; said first blade having a first forward face and a first rear face, each of said faces extending between a first radially inner edge located substantially along a first inner radius from said axis and a first radially outer edge located substantially along a first outer radius from said axis, said faces of said first blade having a first width between said first inner radius and said first outer radius; said second blade having a second forward face and a second rear face, each of said faces extending between a second radially inner edge located substantially along a second inner radius and a second radially outer edge located substantially along a second outer radius, said faces of said second blade having a second width between said second inner radius and said second outer radius; and, wherein said first outer radius and said second inner radius are such that said first and said second blades have at least some radial overlap, and wherein said first inner radius is smaller than said second inner radius and said first outer radius is smaller than said second outer radius.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said first width is greater than said second width.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein at least one of said blades has a forward angle from said top edge to said bottom edge, said forward angle being in a direction from said rear face to said front face.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 3 wherein said forward angle is created by at least one insert located in at least one recess in said blade.
- 5. A centrifuge scraper blade assembly comprising:a first and second pair of centrifuge blades rotating around a longitudinal axis; said first pair of blades being substantially symmetrical around said longitudinal axis, each of said blades of said first pair of blades having a scraping face with a radially inner edge substantially along a first radius and having a radially outer edge substantially along a second radius; said second pair of blades being substantially symmetrical around said longitudinal axis, each of said blades of said second pair of blades having a scraping face with a radially inner edge substantially along a third radius and having a radially outer edge substantially along a fourth radius; and, wherein said second radius is at least equal to said third radius and said second radius is smaller than said fourth radius, and wherein said first radius is smaller than said third radius.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5 wherein said second radius is larger than said third radius.
- 7. An apparatus comprising:a centrifuge having a plurality of scraping blades rotating around a longitudinal axis, each of said blades having a scraping face and a trailing face, said faces having a top edge and a bottom edge and an inner edge and an outer edge; and, wherein a radially outer edge of a first blade of said plurality of blades radially overlaps a radially inner edge of a second blade of said plurality of blades, and wherein the radially outer edge and a radially inner edge of the first blade are radially inward from a radially outer edge and the radially inner edge, respectively, of the second blade.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein all of said blades are angled to force the solids toward a discharge opening for the solids in said centrifuge.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein at least one of said blades has a forward angle from said top edge to said bottom edge, said forward angle being in a direction from said trailing face to said scraping face, said opening being closer to said bottom edge of said blade than to said top edge.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein at least one of said blades has a forward angle from said bottom edge to said top edge, said forward angle being in a direction from said trailing face to said scraping face, said opening being closer to said top edge of said blade than to said bottom edge.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein said angle is created by at least one insert located in at least one corresponding recess in one of said blades.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein at least a portion of said recess of said blade and said corresponding insert extend from said radially inner edge to said radially outer edge of said blade.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein said angle is greater than 5 degrees.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein said radial overlap is at least 0.25 inches.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein said radial overlap is between 0.0 and 0.50 inches.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said first outer radius is at least 0.25 inches greater than said second inner radius.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said first outer radius is at least 0.50 inches greater than said second inner radius.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein said second radius is at least 0.25 inches greater than said third radius.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein said second radius is at least 0.50 inches greater than said third radius.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein said radial overlap is at least 0.25 inches.
- 21. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein said radial overlap is at least 0.50 inches.
