Claims
- 1. A disc drive comprising:
- a piezoelectric plate having:
- two long and two short edges;
- at least one arm pivotable about an axis, said arm having:
- first and second ends spaced from said axis and on opposite sides thereof;
- a transducer attached to said first end; and
- a rigid element on said second end;
- wherein said an edge of said piezoelectric plate or an extension thereof is resiliently urged against said rigid element.
- 2. A disc drive according to claim 1 wherein the piezoelectric plate is stationary.
- 3. A disc drive according to claim 1 wherein the piezoelectric plate is movable with respect to said axis.
- 4. A disc drive according to claim 1 wherein the transducer is a read/write head.
- 5. A disc drive according to claim 2 wherein the transducer is a read/write head.
- 6. A disc drive according to claim 3 wherein the transducer is a read/write head.
- 7. A disc drive according to claim 1 wherein the piezoelectric plate is rotatable about a second axis.
- 8. A disk drive according to claim 7 and including at least one additional micromotor arranged to cause rotation of the piezoelectric plate about the second axis.
- 9. A disc drive comprising:
- an arm pivotable about an axis, said arm having:
- first and second ends;
- a read/write head attached to said first end,
- a piezoelectric plate attached to said second end, and
- wherein said axis extends through said piezoelectric plate.
- 10. A disc drive according to claim 9 comprising:
- a rigid element which is urged against said piezoelectric plate.
- 11. A disc drive according to claim 9 wherein the transducer is a read/write head.
- 12. A disc drive according to claim 10 wherein the transducer is a read/write head.
- 13. A disc drive comprising:
- an arm having first and second ends spaced from an axis and on opposite sides thereof, said arm being rotatable about said axis;
- an element fixed with respect to the axis;
- a transducer mounted on said first end; and
- a micromotor mounted on and rotatable with the arm, the micromotor comprising a piezoelectric plate having two faces and an edge,
- wherein the edge or an extension of the edge is pressed against the fixed element causing rotation of the arm about the axis.
- 14. A disk drive according to claim 13 wherein the axis passes through the piezoelectric plate.
- 15. A disc drive according to claim 15 wherein the transducer is a read/write head.
- 16. A disc drive according to claim 14 wherein the transducer is a read/write head.
