Claims
- 1. A single, continuous ceremonial covering for a walkway, said ceremonial covering comprising:
- a ceremonial sheet being elongate and having a continuous length and width dimension defining a walking surface and a walkway engaging surface, a leading end portion, a trailing end portion and an intermediate portion interconnecting said leading end portion with said trailing end portion; and said ceremonial sheet being in the form of a roll with said trailing end portion being innermost in said roll and said leading end portion being outermost with said walkway engaging surface facing outward;
- a first surface of a double-sided tack/release pressure sensitive adhesive being secured, to a portion of said walkway engaging surface of said ceremonial sheet, only on said leading end portion, and a second surface of said pressure sensitive adhesive, when adhered to a desired walkway, securing said leading end portion of said ceremonial sheet to the desired walkway to facilitate unrolling of said ceremonial sheet along on the walkway; and
- a rope engaging a central portion of said roll to facilitate unrolling thereof along the desired walkway.
- 2. The ceremonial covering according to claim 1 wherein said second surface of said pressure sensitive adhesive has a releasable covering affixed thereto which is removed prior to adhering said second surface of said pressure sensitive adhesive to the desired walkway.
- 3. The ceremonial covering according to claim 1 wherein the width of said ceremonial sheet is between 20 and 55 inches.
- 4. The ceremonial covering according to claim 1 wherein at least said walking surface of said ceremonial sheet is decorated.
- 5. The ceremonial covering according to claim 1 wherein said pressure sensitive adhesive resists removal from the desired walkway when a release force of between 10 and 300 pounds is applied at an angle of less than about 30 degrees relative to said walkway.
- 6. The ceremonial covering according to claim 1 wherein said first surface of said pressure sensitive adhesive is secured to an exposed outwardly facing portion of said leading end portion of said walkway engaging surface of said roll.
- 7. The ceremonial covering according to claim 1 wherein said ceremonial sheet is a non-woven fabric.
- 8. A single, continuous ceremonial covering for a walkway, comprising:
- a roll of non-woven fabric having a width and including a starting end, a walking surface and a floor abutting surface;
- at least a portion of said width of said floor abutting surface, juxtaposed said starting end of said roll, including a releasable, double-sided, pressure sensitive adhesive layer, and said releasable, double-sided, pressure sensitive adhesive layer has a width of between 1/2 to 2 inches; and
- wherein a first side of said double-sided pressure sensitive adhesive layer is applied to said floor abutting surface of said roll, and a second side of said double-sided pressure sensitive adhesive layer is covered by a releasable strip of material, thus forming a ceremonial covering for a walkway with a pressure sensitive adhesive layer located adjacent said starting end of said ceremonial covering, for allowing said second side of said double-sided, pressure sensitive, adhesive layer to be applied to said walkway, for releasably maintaining said starting end of said roll in contact with said walkway, and for allowing said starting end of said roll to be removed from contact with said walkway by positioning said starting end of said roll at an angle relative to said walkway and by applying a force to said roll; and a rope engaging a central portion of said roll to facilitate unrolling thereof along the desired walkway.
- 9. The ceremonial covering of claim 8 wherein said roll is decoratively embossed.
- 10. The ceremonial covering of claim 8 wherein said width of said roll is between 20 inches and 55 inches and said releasable, double-sided, pressure sensitive adhesive layer is between about 1 to 6 mils in thickness.
- 11. The ceremonial covering of claim 8 wherein said angle is between 0 degrees and 30 degrees and said force is between 10 and 300 pounds of pull.
