Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula ##STR29## wherein A together with the two carbon atoms to which it is attached represents a fused ring selected from cyclopenteno, cyclohexeno and cyclohepteno in which A represents propylene, butylene or pentylene respectively; each unsubstituted or mono- or di-substituted on carbon atoms within A by lower alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkyl, hydroxy, acyloxy, oxo, lower alkoxy, aryl, aryl-lower alkyl or aryl-lower alkoxy; and when disubstituted on the same carbon atom within A, said carbon atom in each ring is substituted by two lower alkyl or two aryl-lower alkyl groups, or by one lower alkyl or aryl-lower alkyl and one group selected from hydroxy, lower alkoxy, aryl-lower alkoxy and acyloxy groups; or each ring is disubstituted on the same carbon atom within A by ethylene, propylene, butylene or pentylene forming with the carbon to which the alkylene chain is attached a spiro fused cyclopropyl, cyclobutyl, cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl ring; of each ring is disubstituted on adjacent carbon atoms by propylene or butylene to form with the two adjacent carbon atoms to which said alkylene grouping is attached a fused cyclopentane or cyclohexane ring; R.sub.1 represents 2-pyridyl or 5-(methyl, methoxy or chloro)-2-pyridyl; R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.3 ' independently represent hydrogen or lower alkyl; the term aryl within any of the above definitions represents phenyl or phenyl mono- or disubstituted by lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, hydroxy, lower alkanoyloxy, aroyloxy, halogen or trifluoromethyl; and the term acyloxy represents lower alkanoyloxy or aroyloxy; a tautomer thereof; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
- 2. A compound according to claim 1 of formula IA wherein A represents propylene, butylene or pentylene unsubstituted or mono- or disubstituted on carbon atoms within said propylene, butylene or pentylene by lower alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkyl, hydroxy, acyloxy, oxo, lower alkoxy, aryl, aryl-lower alkyl or aryl-lower alkoxy; R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, aryl and acyloxy having meaning as defined in said claim; a tautomer thereof; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
- 3. A compound according to claim 1 of the formula ##STR30## wherein R.sub.1 represents 2-pyridyl or 5-(methyl, methoxy or chloro)-2-pyridyl; R.sub.8 and R.sub.8 ' represent hydrogen, lower alkyl, hydroxy, acyloxy, lower alkoxy, aryl, aryl-lower alkyl or aryl-lower alkoxy; and aryl represents phenyl or phenyl mono- or di-substituted by lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen or trifluoromethyl; a tautomer thereof; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
- 4. A compound according to claim 3 wherein R.sub.1 represents 2-pyridyl.
- 5. A compound according to claim 1 of the formula ##STR31## wherein R.sub.1 represents 2-pyridyl or 5-(methyl, methoxy or chloro)-2-pyridyl; R.sub.6 ' and R.sub.7 ' represent independently hydrogen, lower alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkyl, hydroxy, acyloxy, lower alkoxy, aryl, aryl-lower alkyl or aryl-lower alkoxy; and aryl represents phenyl or phenyl mono- or di-substituted by lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen or trifluoromethyl; a tautomer thereof; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
- 6. A compound according to claim 5 wherein R.sub.1 represents 2-pyridyl.
- 7. A compound according to claim 1 of the formula ##STR32## wherein R.sub.1 represents 2-pyridyl or 5-(methyl, methoxy or chloro)-2-pyridyl; R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 represent independently hydrogen, lower alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkyl, hydroxy, acyloxy, lower alkoxy, aryl, aryl-lower alkyl or aryl-lower alkoxy; and aryl represents phenyl or phenyl mono- or di-substituted by lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, hydroxy, halogen or trifluoromethyl; a tautomer thereof; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
- 8. A compound according to claim 7 wherein R.sub.1 represents 2-pyridyl.
- 9. A compound according to claim 7 wherein R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 represent hydrogen or lower alkyl; a tautomer thereof or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
- 10. A compound according to claim 7 wherein R.sub.1 represents 2-pyridyl; and R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 represent hydrogen.
