Claims
- 1. A method of inhibiting the formation of abnormally phosphorylated paired helical filament epitopes associated with Alzheimer's Disease comprising administering to a patient susceptible to the disease an amount of a compound effective to inhibit the formation of the abnormally phosphorylated epitopes, where the compound has the formula: ##STR77## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently represent hydrogen, phenyl, halogen, nitro, lower alkyl, trifluoroalkyl, lower alkoxy, thioloweralkoxy, cyclohexyl, amino, acetyl, morpholino, cyano, piperidinyl, trifluoroalkoxy,
- with the proviso that not all of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are hydrogen;
- M is oxygen, methylene, or sulfur;
- X is methylene or carbonyl; and
- R.sub.11 and R.sub.12 independently represent hydrogen, halogen, trifluoromethyl, nitro, cyano, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, thioloweralkoxy, and acetyl.
