Abstract
An article is provided that permits a user to stay comfortable and warm in nearly any situation involving a chair or seat. The article includes a blanket portion that is connected to an elastic or inelastic fabric cover/pocket, which can be sleeved over the back of a chair. The cover keeps the blanket securely held in place on the chair. The design permits users to quickly move the blanket from one chair to the next, quickly get in and out of the chair, and quickly secure the blanket in the configuration that achieves the desired level of comfort and warmth. The design purposefully allows the user to cover the front and the back of their bodies. One or more detachable ‘seat belts’ connect the sides of the blanket, one to one another, creating an adjustable, custom, snug fit. Because the legs and feet are secure inside the blanket, the blanket is kept away from office chair wheels when rolling an office chair, thus the blanket does not get stuck in or under the wheels. The blanket has a foot placement area which is constituted of a layer of fabric with qualities that allows the user to wear shoes or enter with soiled feet without concern that it will damage or soil the inside of the blanket. The blanket may be folded and stored in the elastic fabric chair back cover, for use as a pillow or for easy travel/storage with one or more carry straps.
Description
FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE

The present disclosure relates generally to home, office and outdoor comfort and warmth devices that may be used to cover the entire, multiple or singular sections of the body, and more particularly to coverings which provide comfort and warmth to an occupant in a chair (or in a seated or prone position).

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE

Various devices have been developed to keep people warm. Blankets constructed of various materials have been used since the dawn of man to keep humans and animals warm. However, the basic blanket, and all blankets up to this point, are limited to a specific use or effect. As a practical matter, blankets do not fully meet the needs of people who sit in chairs.

First, when sitting in a chair, it is difficult to cover the backside of the body. Attempting to wrap a blanket between the seat and the backs of the legs, buttocks and back is difficult, often leaving gaps for cold air to enter or gaps open when the person moves around on the chair. The backs of the lower legs, extending below the seat of the chair, are most often left completely exposed, as there is no part of the chair to press against, holding the blanket in place.

Keeping a basic blanket in place when seated in a chair is difficult. If the basic blanket is not wrapped around the user, the blanket will slide down the body, then the person will have to readjust and replace the basic blanket when they move their body. If the user wraps the basic blanket and tucks it between their body and the chair, even when a user moves in the chair, the blanket tends to move and gap in different areas, making the user readjust and fuss with the blanket. If the user wraps the blanket very tight, in order to resist gaping and fussing with the blanket, then the constriction over time may be an issue, or, most frequently, the ability to unwrap and get out of the blanket takes too much time and effort.

When in an office environment, generally no one has control over the thermostat except the person that likes it cold. Sometimes, in colder months, management keeps the temperature lower to reduce heating costs. In the hot summer months, employees come to work with lighter clothing, which is not warm enough for the air-conditioned office. The result of a cold office environment is that workers use basic blankets, heaters, jackets and such to attempt to stay warm.

When getting into and out of a chair, using a basic blanket makes entry and exit difficult and time consuming. Especially when working in an office (frequent meetings, trips to the bathroom, bosses that call you to their office, etc.) or when at a sporting event (shagging a loose ball, chasing down a young child, getting snacks ready for the team, etc.), frequent need to get in and out of the chair makes using a basic blanket troublesome, as it takes time and attention to resituate the blanket for optimal warmth each time the user returns to their chair. Also, when the user leaves the chair, the user has to carefully place the blanket somewhere that won't get dirty, won't fall on the ground, won't get cold if left for just a minute or two and won't interfere with their work, play or relaxation.

When it comes to office chairs, blankets and chair wheels have long been antagonistic. When a person wears a blanket when sitting on a chair, a basic blanket frequently has a portion of the blanket laying on the floor. Eventually, when the user moves the chair, the wheels roll over the blanket, resulting in the blanket getting caught in the wheels until manually removed (which is a huge hassle) or worse yet, the chair stops rolling and the person is dumped out of the chair and onto the floor.

Basic blankets are traditionally difficult to travel with, as they take up a lot of room and take time to roll or fold. Even when rolled or folded, blankets do not have handles or means to connect the blanket with other travel bags or accessories.

When it comes to traveling in colder weather, people often forget one or more items needed on their journey. By temporarily or permanently adding a pouch pocket into the back or seat of an outdoor chair, blankets can be kept secure inside the pouch pocket, so that when a user travels with the outdoor chair, the blanket comes along automatically and is not left behind. Additionally, if the user is sitting outdoors in warm weather and the temperature falls to cooler weather, the user does not have to go look for their separate blanket, but rather opens up the pouch pocket on their chair and pulls out the blanket to keep them warm.

When it comes to staying warm indoors, people often seek out a blanket. By temporarily or permanently adding a pouch pocket into the back or seat of an indoor chair, blankets can be kept secure inside the pouch pocket, so that when a user needs the blanket, the blanket is always available instead of left and forgotten in another area. Additionally, if the user is sitting indoors and suddenly feels chilly, the user does not have to go look for their separate blanket, but rather opens up the pouch pocket on their chair and pulls out the blanket to keep them warm.

When it comes to traveling in colder weather, people often want to travel light on their journey. By temporarily or permanently adding a pouch pocket into the back of a shirt, jacket, coat, vest, pants or shorts, blankets can be kept secure inside the pouch pocket, so that when a user travels, the blanket comes along automatically and is not left behind. Additionally, if the user is outdoors in warm weather and the temperature falls to cooler weather, the user does not have to go look for their separate blanket, but rather opens up the pouch pocket on their garment and pulls out the blanket to keep them warm.

When it comes to traveling in colder weather, people often want to travel light on their journey. By temporarily or permanently adding a pouch pocket into the seat of a vehicle (such as a car, farm vehicle, recreational vehicle, boat, etc. the blankets can be kept secure inside the pouch pocket, so that when a user travels in the vehicle, the blanket comes along automatically and is not left behind. The user does not have to go look for their separate blanket, but rather opens up the pouch pocket and pulls out the blanket to keep them warm.

When it comes to putting one's feet into a blanket, many people are hesitant to put them anywhere but the end of the blanket, especially when they have shoes on, for fear that their feet will dirty or contaminate the blanket or damage/tear the blanket. By adding a layer of material that is durable, anti-cut, anti-tear, anti-microbial, anti-dirt, self cleaning, water repellant, waterproof, smell resistant, and insulative—the user is at ease when putting their shoes in the blanket where the feet are positioned to rest.

SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

Devices provided are useful in keeping warm while seated, standing or reclining. Methodologies for making and using these devices are also provided.

In one aspect, a convertible blanket article is provided which is adapted to include a removable or an attached pocket which can be secured over a chair back or can receive the blanket article to create a pillow. The article comprises a blanket section, having a generally rectangular configuration and comprising a first and second surface and first, second and two opposing side edges, the blanket having a length and a width where the length is longer than the width; wherein said blanket section has the same material comprising the first and second surface, or a different material comprising the first surface that is different from the second surface.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The blankets disclosed herein are designed to permit a user to stay comfortable and warm in nearly any situation. The primary purpose of the design is to allow a user to stay comfortable and warm when sitting, whether in an office chair, fold up chair, straight back chair, wheelchair, recliner, vehicle or any type of chair. The blanket is connected to an elastic or inelastic fabric cover/pocket, which can be sleeved over the back of a chair. Once sleeved over the back of a chair, the cover keeps the blanket securely held in place on the chair. Additionally, the design permits users to quickly move the blanket from one chair to the next, quickly get in and out of the chair, and quickly secure the blanket in the configuration that achieves the desired level of comfort and warmth. When entering or exiting the blanket, there is a special material where the feet and/or shoes reside in the blanket that is durable, anti-smell and easy to clean. The design purposefully allows the user to cover themselves starting at the back or back of the hips, superiorly covering the backside of the user (which is often uncovered and exposed to the cold), then covering the back of the legs (including the calves), then wrapping up over the feet, the front of the legs, over the knees and thighs, waist and over the torso. Once the user is inside the blanket, the left and right sides of the blanket can be pulled toward the center, where at least one detachable ‘seat belt’ connects the sides to one another, creating an adjustable snug fit. Because the legs and feet are secure inside the blanket, the blanket is kept away from the office chair wheels when rolling the office chair, thus the blanket does not get stuck in the wheels. When the user is done with the blanket, they can keep the blanket on the chair as a chair cover. The blanket may be folded and stored in the elastic fabric chair back cover, for use as a pillow or for easy travel/storage with one or more carry straps.

The principal advantage of the preferred embodiment of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is having a long blanket that starts and covers the back of the user's body, warps around the feet and then covers the front of the user's body.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is the inclusion of a removable elastic fabric (such as spandex or stretch sherpa) or inelastic (such as leather, fleece or canvas fabric) cover for the seat back of a chair which keeps the blanket fitted properly to the chair, keeping the blanket in place when sitting, not sitting, exiting or entering the chair.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is the ability of the blanket to completely cover and warm the backside of the user without having to tuck, wrap or otherwise manually mechanically situate the blanket into the appropriate location before or after entering the chair.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that it completely covers the person's back, butt and back of the legs. By sitting on the blanket upon entry of the chair, the back, butt and upper back of the legs are immediately in contact with the blanket. When the blanket is extended around the feet and covers the front portion of the body, the wrapping effect covers the lower section of the back of the legs, from the knees to the feet. Because the Cover keeps the blanket in place, the blanket will not slide down or move side to side while the person is seated, ensuring that their backside is fully covered and kept warm by the insulative effects of the blanket.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the Cover keeps the blanket in place, the person can easily and quickly sit on the blanket. The blanket will not slide down or move side to side while the person is seated, thus nullifying the need to reconfigure or adjust the blanket before sitting.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that it is easy to place or remove from a chair, as the cover slips on or off the back of the chair or the placement belt can be connected or disconnected quickly.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the blanket does not slip, unwrap or gap open when the user moves around because the blanket is configured in a clamshell design. The clamshell design covers the user on the top, bottom and sides of their bodies at the same time, so that coverage is complete and there are no areas that can slip, unwrap or gap, therefore the user does not need to adjust, readjust or fuss with the blanket.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is the ability for the person to get in and out of the blanket quickly and easily. The blanket does not just sit on top of the user, but instead the shape and function are more like a clamshell, allowing the user to sit on the blanket, hinge the blanket at the feet and then close the blanket on top of the user. Instead of a blanket that is wrapped around the user, which takes time to wrap around the body and time to unwrap when exiting, the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket simply needs to be lifted at the farthest end, the user sits down on the portion of the blanket on the chair, then the user places the end of the blanket extending from their feet onto the front facing portion of their body. To exit the chair, those instructions are reversed.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that once the user is seated in the blanket, the user can affix removable, adjustable length connectors (similar to suspenders, but with a clip at one end and a hook at the other or like a seatbelt connected with a suitable releasable or repositionable fastener such as, for example, the fastening solutions sold commercially under the trade name Velcro®) to the blanket. The connectors can connect the right side of the blanket with the left side of the blanket, creating tension between the two sides, offering the user a tighter fit inside of the blanket. Some people like blankets that are tucked or wrapped tightly to the body. The Connectors quickly create a tight fit of the blanket around the body and can be just as quickly disengaged, so the user can quickly exit the blanket. The user can affix or remove the connectors anywhere along the length of the blanket to add compression in the area or areas that they choose.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the elastic fabric version of the cover stretches over the back of different depth, width and height chair backs, for all kinds of chairs including office chairs, rolling chairs, gaming chairs, outdoor chairs, outdoor folding chairs, folding chairs, folding sports chairs, bleachers, straight back chairs, recliners, wheelchairs, seats in vehicles, and all variations of seating.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that it can be fabricated with materials and fabrics that are waterproof, water resistant, stain resistant, UV resistance, and flame resistant. The Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is therefore perfect for outdoor folding sports chairs used by anyone who watches outdoor sports in person, those who attend tailgate parties, hunters, anglers, or any cool or cold outdoor activity.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that if the user does not want to be inside the blanket, the user does not have to remove the cover or the blanket from the chair. Instead, the user can situate the blanket so that it is off the floor and extends over the back of the chair, allowing the user to sit on part or the totality of the blanket.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the user can situate the blanket so that it is off the floor and extends over the back of the chair when the user is not using the chair. If the user exits the chair, the user does not have to find a place to put the blanket that is not in the way of future activities, won't get dirty, won't fall on the ground, won't get caught in the chair's wheels or under the chair's feet.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is when the user exits the chair, extends and folds the blanket over the back of the chair, thus the blanket is folded and is touching itself, the blanket retains the warmth of the user longer due to the insulating effects, whereas a single layer blanket will cool much faster.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the clamshell design allows the user to adjust their warmth level by extending their arms or legs outside of the bounds of the blanket without having to adjust or resituate the blanket. In the case that the user becomes too warm inside the confines of the blanket, the user can extend a foot, leg, arm, etc. Additionally, the user could adjust the blanket so that it does not cover the torso, legs, arms or other part of the body. The user can just as quickly retract body parts or resituate the blanket if the user becomes too cool.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the clamshell design allows the user to put pressure on the blanket at the area of the feet. As the blanket hinges and wraps from the back to the front of the user, the blanket is not loose at the location of the feet, which is where the rollers are located on a rolling office chair. This pressure allows the user to extend, push or pull their feet (and therefore the tight blanket wrapped around the feet) and roll the wheels, moving the chair, without catching the fabric of the blanket under the wheels.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the blanket can be of any thickness, made of different fabrics or materials, based on the needs of the user. By using the loops, a user can attach a blanket to one or more other blankets, which may the of the same qualities, or may have other qualities, making it more effective in different environments (such as adding a second blanket to add warmth or adding a second blanket made of waterproof material to make the outside of the combined blankets waterproof, but the inside is a sherpa fabric that is soft to the skin.)

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the blanket can be thin or thick, made of different fabrics or materials, based on the needs of the user. The blanket may be constructed to have qualities that are different on the interior versus the exterior. The blanket may be constructed so that sections of the blanket are constructed for certain purposes (such as having the interior of the blanket be a sherpa fabric, but the section where the feet area is constructed of a water, dirt and stain resistant fabric that is easy to clean for people who wear shoes when using the blanket. The sections of the blanket made of different materials may be permanent or temporary and able to be added or removed as needed (for cleaning, comfort, etc.)

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the cover doubles as a pouch into which the blanket can be stored. Once the blanket is inside the cover, the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket can be used as a seat cushion or a pillow. The loops and belt allow the user to carry the pillow by a handle or like a backpack.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the blanket can have one or more areas with a sealable pouch for keeping personal items like a phone, credit card, cash, chapstick, snacks, etc. The pouch gives the user quick access so that the user does not have to get out of the blanket to retrieve the item.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that if the cover is too small to accommodate the back of a chair (as in the case of some recliners) or if there is no back to the chair (as in the case of bleachers) then the belt can be attached to the blanket via the loops and the belt can go around the chair back or the seat so that the blanket is secured to the chair or seat and will not slide and still covers the back of the person when sitting.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that if there is no place to use the cover then the belt can be attached to the user's torso or waist, keeping the blanket in place along the backside of the body.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the width of the blanket is only wide enough to cover the body and not reach the floor when not in use, so there is not an excess of material when in use or not in use.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that if the top of the user's body requires additional warmth, a separate poncho style top can be attached to the blanket via the loops and used in tandem with the blanket.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the blanket can have a section of durable, anti-microbial, water resistant, easy to clean material where the shoes/feet reside when the user is in the blanket.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the pouch can be temporarily or permanently attached to the chair, allowing the blanket to be connected to the chair, even when in storage or transport.

Another advantage of the Adjustable Convertible Chair Blanket is that the blanket can be removed from the chair and used as a throw or a blanket for any other situation, as desired.
