The disclosure relates to a seat, and more particularly to a chair seat.

However, since the cushioning layer 122 is generally not thick enough and will depress while the user sitting thereon, the user may directly feel the relatively hard base layer 121.
Therefore, an object of the disclosure is to provide a chair seat that is able to improve the comfort of a user when sitting thereon.
According to the disclosure, the chair seat includes a main body, a seat body, and an insert body. The main body has a top body surface defining a groove. The seat body has a base layer and a cushioning layer. The base layer is disposed on the top body surface of the main body, and has a bottom surface contacting the top body surface of the main body, a top surface opposite to the bottom surface, and a through hole extending from the top surface to the bottom surface and communicating with the groove of the main body. The cushioning layer is disposed over and connected to the base layer. The insert body is disposed in the groove of the main body and the through hole of the base layer.
Other features and advantages of the disclosure will become apparent in the following detailed description of the embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, of which:

In this embodiment, the main body 3 is made of metal and has sufficient rigidity to be a base structure for the chair seat. The main body 3 has a base wall 31, and a side wall 32 extending downwardly from a periphery of the base wall 31. The base wall 31 has a seat portion 33 located at a center thereof, and a peripheral portion 34 projecting from a periphery of the seat portion 33 and connected to the side wall 32. The main body 3 further has a top body surface 35 and a bottom body surface 36. The top body surface 35 extends from the seat portion 33 to the peripheral portion 34, and defines a groove 37 located at the seat portion 33. The bottom body surface 36 is opposite to the top body surface 35, extends from the seat portion 33 to the peripheral portion 34, and has a lower area 361 disposed at the seat portion 33 and under the groove 37, and an upper area 362 surrounding and projecting from a periphery of the lower area 361, and being higher than the lower area 361.
The seat body 4 has a base layer 41, a cushioning layer 42, and a protective cover 43. The base layer 41 is wooden, is disposed on the top body surface 35 of the main body 3, and has a bottom surface 411 contacting the top body surface 35 of the main body 3, a top surface 412 opposite to the bottom surface 411, and a through hole 413 extending from the top surface 412 to the bottom surface 411, and communicating with the groove 37 of the main body 3. The cushioning layer 42 is disposed over and connected to the top surface 412 of the base layer 41 for covering the base layer 41 and the insert body 5. The cushioning layer 42 is made of a soft and resilient material, which is softer than the base layer 41, such as foamed plastic. The protective cover 43 is made of leather or cotton, covers the base layer 41 and the cushioning layer 42, and has a first protective section 431 disposed on the cushioning layer 42, and a second protective section 432 extending from a periphery of the first protective section 431 to the bottom surface 411 of the base layer 41.
The insert body 5 is disposed in the groove 37 of the main body 3 and the through hole 413 of the base layer 41, and is positioned between the main body 3 and the seat body 4. In this embodiment, the insert body 5 has a thickness larger than that of the base layer 41 and that of the cushioning layer 42. The insert body 5 is made of a soft and resilient material, such as latex and foamed plastic, and may be made of a shape memory material.
When assembling the chair seat of this embodiment, a user needs to install the insert body 5 into the groove 37 of the main body 3, cover the main body 3 and the insert body 5 with the seat body 4, and use a plurality of fixing members 6 (such as rivets) for coupling the main body 3 to the seat body 4. Since the cushioning layer 42 is stacked on the insert body 5, the cushioning layer 42 and the insert body 5 cooperatively form a sitting portion that is soft and has a sufficient thickness so as to prevent the user from directly feeling the relatively hard main body 3 and base layer 41, thereby enhancing comfort for the user.
In summary, by virtue of the configurations of the groove 37 of the main body 3 and the through hole 413 of the base layer 41 for retaining the insert body 5 between the main body 3 and the seat body 4, the chair seat has an enhanced comfort for the user compared with the above-mentioned conventional chair seat.
