Claims
- 1. A hydrostatic transmission comprising
a housing forming a sump for hydraulic fluid; a center section mounted in said housing; a hydraulic circuit formed in said center section and operatively connecting at least two hydraulic units; a manifold positioned adjacent to said center section in said housing and forming a gallery separate from said sump; at least one check valve mounted in said center section to permit fluid communication between said hydraulic circuit and said gallery; and a charge pump in fluid communication with said gallery.
- 2. A hydrostatic transmission as set forth in claim 1, further comprising a relief valve to allow hydraulic fluid to pass from said gallery to said sump, said relief valve being mounted in a valve body integrally formed in said manifold.
- 3. A hydrostatic transmission as set forth in claim 2, wherein said manifold is comprised of generally resilient material.
- 4. A hydrostatic transmission as set forth in claim 1, wherein said hydraulic units comprise an axial piston pump and an axial piston motor.
- 5. A manifold for use in a housing for a hydrostatic transmission, wherein the hydrostatic transmission includes a housing forming a sump for hydraulic fluid and a pump and motor mounted on a center section in said housing, said manifold comprising a generally resilient member shaped to cooperate with said center section to form a gallery for said hydraulic fluid separate from said sump.
- 6. A manifold as set forth in claim 5, further comprising a relief valve to permit fluid to flow from said gallery to said sump, said relief valve mounted in a valve body integrally formed in said manifold.
