BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

(1) Field of the Invention

The invention relates to a household or table equipment a dinner plate charger cover.

A dinner plate charger is a large, flat dish; a platter most commonly circular, but also oval, square and octagonal. Modern use of the dinner plate charger is to place it under a dining plate to dress up a dining table or table setting, especially for festive or celebratory occasions. Dinner plate chargers are available in a variety of colors, materials, sizes, finishes and decorative patterns.

The problem arises when the host wants to change the theme or decoration of the table with the use of a different dinner plate charger. With so many holidays and celebratory occasions enjoyed over dining, the host must purchase or own many differently decorated dinner plate chargers. Owning a variety of dinner plate chargers is expensive and takes up valuable kitchen or buffet storage space.

Previous inventions such as Decorative Transparent Dinnerware Articles with Interchangeable Displays, Serving Platters with Interchangeable Decorative Inserts, Plate Cover Assemblies interchanging a decorative object and the like, all attempt to dress up or share information with the diner by focusing on the dinner plate itself from which food is eaten. Table placemats, placemats, table mats with changeable imprintation, decorative placemats with inserts delight, entertain and inform the diner but do so by focusing on the placemat upon which the diner's plate is placed.

The subject invention, Dinner Plate Charger Cover, is in the middle that is to say, modern use of the dinner plate charger is to place it under a dining plate and on top of the placemat. The Dinner Plate Charger Cover is used to cover the dinner plate charger to dress up a dining table, to delight, inform and entertain the diner. The invention covers the area of dining as entertainment and/or sharing information while dining—specifically, through the use of the Dinner Plate Charger Cover. The Dinner Plate Charger Cover is a flexible way to change the look of a dining setting without requiring the host to own many different dinner plate chargers. The user avoids the purchase of multiple china and/or dinnerware sets thus saving space and money.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The Dinner Plate Charger Cover decorates the dinner plate charger by wrapping it, which will change the look of the dinner plate charger depending on what material/design is used. The use of the Dinner Plate Charger Cover enables those who are hosting guests socially to easily dress up a dinner plate charger with a new design while owning only one set of dinner plate chargers. This application contemplates wrapping all shapes of dinner plate chargers including but not limited to circular, oval, square and octagonal with Dinner Plate Charger Covers.

The problems the Dinner Plate Charger Cover solves are the high cost of multiple dinner plate chargers and the large amount of space required to store them. With the Dinner Plate Charger Cover, only one set of dinner plate chargers is needed. As many different Dinner Plate Charger Cover designs may be purchased as needed, taking up much less space. The Dinner Plate Charger Cover is made of material or fabric which is smaller, lighter and more flexible than multiple dinner plate chargers. They can be stored easily, used more frequently, washed in the laundry or inexpensively disposed.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Assorted materials are used to manufacture the Dinner Plate Charger Cover (FIG. 1) such as fabric or other pliable material made usually by weaving, felting, or knitting natural or synthetic fibers and filaments, also includes laces, meshes, and nets, yard goods, synthetic films and sheets, and paper products, which may be plain, colored, emitting light or sound, ornamented or decorated.

To manufacture, the Dinner Plate Charger Cover is cut to the desired pattern and dimension. These parameters describe the important dimensions of the Dinner Plate Charger Cover:

The elastic band (FIG. 3 elastic band 4) is sewn or attached with other common techniques such as gluing or thermofusion to edge of the opening.

The dinner plate charger is held fast inside the Dinner Plate Charger Cover by means of an elastic band or similar material with elastic memory (FIG. 3 elastic band 4) which is attached to the edge of the opening (FIG. 4 opening 1) of the Dinner Plate Charger Cover. After the dinner plate charger is inserted into the Dinner Plate Charger Cover, the elastic band (FIG. 4 elastic band 4) constricts the opening into a closed position, thereby holding the dinner plate charger within the Dinner Plate Charger Cover (FIG. 7).

To fasten the Dinner Plate Charger Cover to the dinner plate charger, the user (FIG. 6 user 8) slips the dinner plate charger (FIG. 6 charger 7) into the opening (FIG. 4 opening 1) of the Dinner Plate Charger Cover (FIG. 6 cover 9).

Multiple, interchangeable Dinner Plate Charger Covers may be used according to the host's tastes. The Dinner Plate Charger Cover is made of material or fabric which is smaller, lighter and more flexible than multiple dinner plate chargers. They can be stored easily, used more frequently, washed in the laundry and reused or inexpensively disposed.
