Claims
- 1. New chemical compounds having the generic formula: ##STR14## Wherein X is one equivalent of an anion selected from monovalent and polyvalent anions, said anions being selected from the group consisting of halide, hydrogen oxalate, perchlorate, hydrogen sulfate, nitrate, and tetraphenylboronate, R, R' are radicals selected from methyl and ethyl radicals, R.sub.1, R.sub.1 ', R.sub.2, and R.sub.2 ' are selected from hydrogen and the methyl radicals, and Z is a radical selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, and pentyl.
- 2. New chemical compounds selected from the group of compounds having the names:
- 1-[N,N-dimethyl-N-(2-acetoxyethyl)ammonio]-10-[N-(3-dimethylcarbamoxy-.alpha.-picolinyl)-N,N-dimethylammonio]decane dibromide;
- 1-[N,N-dimethyl-N-(2-acetoxy-2-methylethyl)ammonio]-10-[N-(3-dimethylcarbamoxy-.alpha.-picolinyl)-N,N-dimethylammonio]decane dibromide;
- 1-[N,N-dimethyl-N-(2-butyroxyethyl)ammonio]-10-[N-(3-dimethylcarbamoxy-.alpha.-picolinyl)-N,N-dimethylammonio]decane dibromide.
- 3. A method of producing a new chemical compound having the generic formula: ##STR15## Wherein X is a halide, R and R' are radicals selected from methyl and ethyl radicals, R.sub.1, R.sub.1 ', R.sub.2, and R.sub.2 ' are selected from hydrogen and the methyl radical, and Z is a radical selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, and pentyl, comprising the steps of refluxing an acetonitrile solution of N-(10-bromodecyl)-N-(3-dimethylcarbamoxy-.alpha.-picolinyl)-N,N-dimethylammonium halide and .beta.-dimethylamino R R.sub.1 wherein R is selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, and pentyl and R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of acetate and butyrate; cooling the refluxed mixture to room temperature; separating an oily material by adding a solvent to the cooled refluxed mixture; decanting the solvent added to the refluxed mixture; dissolving the gummy residue in a solvent; treating the gummy residue-solvent with decolorizing charcoal; filtering the gummy residue-solvent-charcoal solution; concentrating the filtrate of the gummy residue-solvent-charcoal solution; maintaining the concentrate under reduced pressure to obtain the product.
- 4. The method of claim 3 wherein the product is dissolved in water to form an aqueous solution, said aqueous solution is treated with a material selected from the group consisting of a basic ion exchange resin and silver oxide to form a quaternary hydroxide solution, and a material selected from the group consisting of oxalic acid, perchloric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, and sodium tetraphenylboron is added to the quaternary hydroxide solution to produce the new chemical compound.
