Claims
- 1. A shopping cart having a seat for supporting a juvenile, a first bar, a second bar extending from the first bar, and a child restraining apparatus for restraining the juvenile in the seat of the shopping cart, the child restraining apparatus comprising:
first and second shoulder straps positionable over the juvenile's shoulders, each of the first and second shoulder straps having first and second ends; wherein the first ends of the first and second shoulder straps are selectively attachable to the first bar; a chest panel; wherein the second ends of the first and second shoulder straps are attached to the chest panel; and first and second belt segments, each having first and second ends such that the first ends of each of the first and second belt segments are attached to the chest panel; wherein the first and second belt segments extend from the chest panel and are positionable about the torso of the juvenile and the second bar; and wherein the second ends of the first and second belt segments are selectively attachable to each another.
- 2. The shopping cart of claim 1, wherein the child restraining apparatus further comprises a crotch strap having first and second ends;
wherein the first end of the crotch strap is attached to the chest panel; and wherein the crotch strap extends therefrom in a direction opposed to the first and second shoulder straps.
- 3. The shopping cart of claim 2, wherein the second end of the crotch strap is selectively attachable to a third bar located adjacent to the seat.
- 4. The shopping cart of claim 1, wherein the chest panel comprises padded material.
- 5. The shopping cart of claim 1, wherein the first and second shoulder straps are adjustable with respect to the chest panel.
- 6. The shopping cart of claim 1, wherein at least one of the first and second belt segments are adjustable with respect to the chest panel.
- 7. The shopping cart of claim 1, wherein the second ends of the first and second shoulder straps each comprises a clasp.
- 8. The shopping cart of claim 2, wherein the crotch strap is adjustable with respect to the chest panel.
- 9. The shopping cart of claim 3, wherein the second end of the crotch strap comprises a clasp.
- 10. The shopping cart of claim 2, wherein the crotch strap has an attachment located adjacent to the first end thereof; and
wherein the second end of the crotch strap is selectively attachable to the attachment.
- 11. The shopping cart of claim 10, wherein the second end of the crotch strap comprises a clasp.
- 12. The shopping cart of claim 2, wherein the crotch strap is selectively attachable to the child restraining apparatus.
- 13. The shopping cart of claim 1, wherein the shoulder straps are positioned substantially parallel to each other.
- 14. The shopping cart of claim 1, further comprising a support strap connecting to the first and second shoulder straps.
- 15. A shopping cart having a seat for supporting a juvenile, a first bar, a second bar extending from the first bar, and a child restraining apparatus for restraining the juvenile in the seat of the shopping cart, the child restraining apparatus comprising:
first and second shoulder straps positionable over the juvenile's shoulders, each of the first and second shoulder straps having first and second ends; a chest panel; wherein the first ends of the first and second shoulder straps are attached to the chest panel; and wherein the second ends of the first and second shoulder straps extend around the first bar and are selectively attachable to the chest panel; and first and second belt segments, each having first and second ends such that the first ends of each of the first and second belt segments are attached to the chest panel; wherein the first and second belt segments extend from the chest panel and are positionable about the torso of the juvenile and the second bar; and wherein the second ends of the first and second belt segments are selectively attachable to each another.
- 16. The shopping cart of claim 15, wherein the child restraining apparatus further comprises a crotch strap having first and second ends;
wherein the first end of the crotch strap is attached to the chest panel; and wherein the crotch strap extends from the chest panel in a direction opposed to the first and second shoulder straps.
- 17. The shopping cart of claim 16, wherein the second end of the crotch strap is selectively attachable to a third bar located adjacent to the seat.
- 18. The shopping cart of claim 15, wherein the chest panel comprises a padded material.
- 19. The shopping cart of claim 15, wherein the first and second shoulder straps are adjustable with respect to the chest panel.
- 20. The shopping cart of claim 15, wherein at least one of the first and second belt segments are adjustable with respect to the chest panel.
- 21. The shopping cart of claim 16, wherein the crotch strap is adjustable with respect to the chest panel.
- 22. The shopping cart of claim 16, wherein the second end of the crotch strap comprises a clasp.
- 23. The shopping cart of claim 16, wherein the crotch strap has an attachment located adjacent to the first end thereof; and
wherein the second end of the crotch strap is selectively attachable to the attachment.
- 24. The shopping cart of claim 23, wherein the second end of the crotch strap comprises a clasp.
- 25. A shopping cart having a seat for supporting a juvenile, a first bar, a second bar extending from the first bar and a child restraining apparatus for restraining the juvenile in the seat of the shopping cart, the child restraining apparatus comprising:
first and second shoulder straps positionable over the shoulders of the juvenile, each of the first and second shoulder straps having first and second ends; wherein the first ends of the first and second shoulder straps are selectively attachable to the first bar; first and second support straps, such that the first and second shoulder straps are connected by the first and second support straps; and a belt strap having a first and second end such that the belt strap is connected to the first and second shoulder straps; wherein the belt strap is positionable about the juvenile's torso and the second bar; and wherein the first and second ends of the belt strap are selectively attachable to one another.
- 26. The shopping cart of claim 25, wherein the child restraining apparatus further comprises a crotch strap having first and second ends;
wherein the first end of the crotch strap is attached to the belt strap; and wherein the crotch strap extends therefrom in a direction opposed to the first and second shoulder straps.
- 27. The shopping cart of claim 26, wherein the second end of the crotch strap is selectively attachable to a third bar located adjacent to the seat.
- 28. The shopping cart of claim 25, wherein the first and second shoulder straps are adjustable with respect to the belt strap.
- 29. The shopping cart of claim 25, wherein at least one of the ends of the belt strap is adjustable with respect the first and second shoulder straps.
- 30. The shopping cart of claim 25, wherein the second ends of the first and second shoulder straps comprises a clasp.
- 31. The shopping cart of claim 26, wherein the crotch strap is adjustable with respect to the belt strap.
- 32. The shopping cart of claim 26, wherein the second end of the crotch strap comprises a clasp.
- 33. The shopping cart of claim 26, wherein the crotch strap has an attachment located adjacent to the first end thereof; and
wherein the second end of the crotch strap is selectively attachable to the attachment.
- 34. The shopping cart of claim 33, wherein the second end of the crotch strap comprises a clasp.
- 35. The shopping cart of claim 25, wherein the shoulder straps are positioned substantially parallel to each other.
- 36. The shopping cart of claim 25, wherein the juvenile restraining apparatus further comprises a third support strap having first and second ends;
wherein the first and second ends are connected to the belt strap; and a crotch strap having first and second ends; wherein the first end of the crotch strap is connected to the third support strap; and wherein the crotch strap extends from the third support strap in a direction opposed to the first and second shoulder straps.
- 37. The shopping cart of claim 36, wherein the second end of the crotch strap is selectively attachable to a third bar located adjacent to the seat.
- 38. The shopping cart of claim 36, wherein the crotch strap is adjustable with respect to the third support strap.
- 39. The shopping cart of claim 36, wherein the second end of the crotch strap comprises a clasp.
- 40. The shopping cart of claim 36, wherein the crotch strap has an attachment located adjacent to the first end thereof; and
wherein the second end of the crotch strap is selectively attachable to the attachment.
- 41. The shopping cart of claim 40, wherein the second end of the crotch strap comprises a clasp.
- 42. The shopping cart of claim 25, wherein the first ends of the first and second shoulder straps are attached to the first bar.
- 43. A shopping cart having a seat for supporting a juvenile, a first bar, a second bar extending from the first bar, and a child restraining apparatus for restraining the juvenile in the seat of the shopping cart, the child restraining apparatus comprising:
first and second shoulder straps positionable over the juvenile's shoulders, each of the first and second shoulder straps having first and second ends; wherein the first ends of the first and second shoulder straps are attached to the first bar; first, second, and third support straps, each having first and second ends; wherein the first support strap is connected to the first and second shoulder straps; wherein the first end of the second support strap is connected to the first shoulder strap and the first end of third shoulder strap is connected to the second shoulder strap; wherein the second ends of the second and third support strap are selectively attachable to each other; and a belt strap having first and second ends; wherein the belt strap is connected to the first shoulder strap with the second shoulder strap having a loop such that at least one end of the belt strap is able to extend around the torso of the juvenile and the second bar and pass through the loop; and wherein the first and second ends of the belt strap are selectively attachable to one another.
- 44. The shopping cart of claim 43, wherein the first and second shoulder straps are adjustable with respect to the belt strap.
- 45. The shopping cart of claim 43, wherein the belt strap is adjustable with respect to the first shoulder strap.
- 46. The shopping cart of claim 43, wherein the shoulder straps are positioned substantially parallel to each other.
- 47. The shopping cart of claim 25, wherein the second support strap is comprised of third and fourth supports straps, each having first and second ends;
wherein the first end of the third support strap is connected to the first shoulder strap and the first end of the fourth shoulder strap is connected to the second shoulder strap; and wherein the second ends of the third and fourth support straps are selectively attachable to each other.
- 48. The shopping cart of claim 36, wherein the second support strap is comprised of fourth and fifth support straps, each having first and second ends;
wherein the first end of the fourth strap is connected to the first shoulder strap and the first end of the fifth strap is connected to the second shoulder strap; wherein the second ends of the fourth and fifth support straps are selectively attachable to each other; wherein the first ends of the first and second shoulder straps are attached to the first bar; wherein first end of the crotch strap is selectively attachable to the third strap; and wherein the second end of crotch strap is attached to the third bar.
- 49. The shopping cart of claim 26, wherein the second strap is comprised of a third and fourth strap, each having first and second ends;
wherein the first end of the third strap is connected to the first shoulder strap and the first end of the fourth strap is connected to the second shoulder straps; wherein the second ends of the first and second shoulder straps are selectively attachable to each other; wherein the first ends of the first and second shoulder straps are attached to the first bar; wherein the first end of the crotch strap is selectively attachable to the child restraining apparatus; and wherein the second end of the crotch strap is attached to the third bar.
- 50. A shopping cart having a seat for supporting a juvenile, a first bar, a second bar extending from the first bar, and a child restraining apparatus for restraining the juvenile in the seat of the shopping cart, the child restraining apparatus comprising:
first and second shoulder straps positionable over the juvenile's shoulders, each of the first and second shoulder straps having first and second ends; wherein the first ends of the first and second shoulder straps are attached to the first bar; and a belt strap having a first and second end such that the belt strap is connected to the second ends of the first and second shoulder straps; wherein the belt strap is positionable about the juvenile's torso and the second bar; and wherein the second ends of the first and second belt strap are selectively attachable to one another.
- 51. The shopping cart of claim 50, wherein the child restraining apparatus further comprises first and second straps, each having first and second ends;
wherein the first end of the first strap is attached to the first shoulder strap and the first end of the second strap is attached to the second shoulder strap; and wherein the second ends of the first and second straps are selectively attachable to one another.
- 52. The shopping cart of claim 50, wherein the child restraining apparatus further comprises a crotch strap having a first and second end;
wherein the first end of the crotch strap is attached to the belt strap; and wherein the second end of the crotch strap comprises a clasp that is attached to a third bar located adjacent to the seat.
- 53. The shopping cart of claim 50, wherein the child restraining apparatus further comprises a crotch strap having a first and second end; and
wherein the first end of the crotch strap is selectively attachable to the child restraining apparatus; and wherein the second end of the crotch strap comprises a clasp that is attached to a third bar located adjacent to the seat.
