The content of the structural unit derived from an unsaturated nitrile contained in the chloroprene polymer is more than 0% by mass and 23% by mass or less on the basis of the total amount of the chloroprene polymer. The content of the structural unit derived from an unsaturated nitrile contained in the chloroprene polymer can be calculated from the content of the nitrogen atom in the copolymer. Specifically, the content of the structural unit derived from an unsaturated nitrile can be calculated by measuring the content of the nitrogen atom in 100 mg of the chloroprene polymer using an element analysis apparatus (SUMIGRAPH 220F: manufactured by Sumika Chemical Analysis Service, Ltd.). The measurement of element analysis can be performed under the following conditions. For example, as for the electric furnace temperature, a reaction furnace, a reduction furnace, a column temperature, and a detector temperature are set at 900° C., 600° C., 70° C., and 100° C., respectively, oxygen is flowed as a combustion gas at 0.2 mL/min, and helium is flowed as a carrier gas at 80 mL/min. A calibration curve can be made using aspartic acid whose nitrogen content is known (10.52%) as a standard substance.
The content of the structural unit derived from chloroprene may be in the following range on the basis of the total amount of the chloroprene polymer. The content of the structural unit derived from chloroprene may be 77% by mass or more, 78% by mass or more, 79% by mass or more, 80% by mass or more, more than 80% by mass, 83% by mass or more, 85% by mass or more, 88% by mass or more, 89% by mass or more, more than 89% by mass, 90% by mass or more, more than 90% by mass, 92% by mass or more, 94% by mass or more, 95% by mass or more, more than 95% by mass, 96% by mass or more, or 97% by mass or more, from the viewpoint of easily obtaining excellent cold resistance. The content of the structural unit derived from chloroprene may be less than 100% by mass, 99% by mass or less, 98% by mass or less, 97% by mass or less, 95% by mass or less, 93% by mass or less, 92% by mass or less, 91% by mass or less, 90% by mass or less, less than 90% by mass, 88% by mass or less, 85% by mass or less, 82% by mass or less, or 80% by mass or less, from the viewpoint of easily obtaining excellent oil resistance. From these viewpoints, the content of the structural unit derived from chloroprene may be 77% by mass or more and less than 100% by mass, 80 to 97% by mass, 90 to 97% by mass, 83 to 95% by mass, 83 to 91% by mass, or 80 to 90% by mass. The content of the structural unit derived from chloroprene can be obtained, for example, by subtracting the content of the structural unit derived from an unsaturated nitrile from the total amount of the chloroprene polymer in a case where the chloroprene polymer is constituted from the structural unit derived from chloroprene and the structural unit derived from an unsaturated nitrile.
A monomer to be copolymerized with chloroprene is not limited to the unsaturated nitrile. Examples of the monomer copolymerizable with chloroprene include 2,3-dichloro-1,3-butadiene, 1-chloro-1,3-butadiene, styrene, isoprene, butadiene, acrylic acid, esters of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, and esters of methacrylic acid. The content of the structural unit derived from 1-chloro-1,3-butadiene contained in the chloroprene polymer may be less than 1% by mass on the basis of the total amount of the chloroprene polymer.
The polymer structure of the chloroprene polymer is not particularly limited, and may be a block copolymer or a statistical copolymer.
The statistical copolymer of the chloroprene and the unsaturated nitrile can be produced, for example, by performing continuous addition or 10 cycles or more of intermittent portionwise addition of chloroprene after initiation of a polymerization reaction. At this time, the amount of chloroprene to be added during time period dt(n+1) between time t(n) and time t(n+1) can be determined on the basis of the total quantity of polymerization conversion of the chloroprene and the unsaturated nitrile during time period dt(n) between time t(n−1) and time t(n) when the time at which the polymerization reaction is initiated is designated as t(0) and “n” is an integer of 1 or more, and the ratio of the unreacted chloroprene and unsaturated nitrile can be maintained to be constant.
The statistical copolymer means a copolymer which can be described on the basis of Bernoulli's statistic model or a primary or secondary Markov's statistic model as described in J. C. Randall “POLYMER SEQUENCE DETERMINATION, Carbon-13 NMR Method” Academic Press, New York, 1977, pages 71-78. In a case where the statistical copolymer of the chloroprene and the unsaturated nitrile is constituted from a binary system monomer, a statistical copolymer may be obtained in a state where, with respect to reactivity ratios r1 and r2 when assuming that a ratio of the chloroprene and the unsaturated nitrile at the time of polymerization initiation as d[M1]/d[M2] in the following Mayo-Lewis Formula (I) and assuming that the chloroprene as M1 defined in the following Mayo-Lewis Formula (I), r1 is in a range of 0.3 to 3000 and r2 is in a range of 10−5 to 3.0.

The polymerization temperature and the final conversion rate of the monomer are not particularly limited, and the polymerization temperature may be, for example, 0 to 50° C. or 10 to 50° C. The polymerization may be performed so that the final conversion rate (polymerization rate) of the monomer falls within a range of 40 to 95% by mass, 40 to 60% by mass, 40 to 55% by mass, 40% by mass or more and less than 55% by mass, 40 to 50% by mass, or the like. The chloroprene polymer of the present embodiment may be a chloroprene polymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer containing chloroprene and an unsaturated nitrile until the final conversion rate is within the above range. In order to adjust the final conversion rate, when the conversion rate becomes a desired value, a polymerization inhibitor for terminating the polymerization reaction may be added to terminate the polymerization.

The chloroprene polymer can be obtained, for example, by removing the unreacted monomer by a steam stripping method, then adjusting the pH of the latex, and performing steps of freeze coagulation, washing with water, hot air drying, and the like of ordinary methods.
A method for producing a chloroprene polymer of the present embodiment may include a polymerization step of polymerizing a monomer composition containing chloroprene and an unsaturated nitrile to obtain a first composition, a monomer removing step of removing an unreacted monomer in the first composition to obtain a second composition, a pH adjustment step of adjusting the pH of the second composition to obtain a third composition, a freeze-coagulation step of subjecting the third composition to freeze-coagulation to obtain a fourth composition, and a drying step of subjecting the fourth composition to a drying treatment to obtain a chloroprene polymer. The chloroprene polymer of the present embodiment may be a chloroprene polymer obtained by such a production method.
The method for producing a chloroprene polymer of the present embodiment may not include a step of subjecting the second composition to a thermal treatment between the monomer removing step and the pH adjustment step, and may not include a step of subjecting the second composition to a thermal treatment at 55 to 70° C. for 1 to 7 hours. (135° C. or lower, 130° C. or lower, or the like). The method for producing a chloroprene polymer of the present embodiment may not include a step of subjecting the chloroprene polymer to a thermal treatment after the drying step, and may not include a step of subjecting the chloroprene polymer to a thermal treatment at 55 to 100° C. (for example, 55 to 80° C.) for 3 to 120 hours (for example, 12 to 120 hours).
The chloroprene polymer is classified into a mercaptan-modified type, a xanthogen-modified type, a sulfur-modified type, a dithiocarbonate-based type, a trithiocarbonate-based type, and a carbamate-based type, depending on the types of molecular weight adjustors.
The chloroprene polymer has a peak top at 5.80 to 6.00 ppm in a 1H-NMR spectrum as measured in a deuterochloroform solvent. In the 1H-NMR spectrum of the chloroprene polymer, the peak area ratio A/B of the peak area A at 5.80 to 6.00 ppm and the peak area B at 4.05 to 6.20 ppm is 0.9/100 to 1.1/100. When the peak area ratio A/B is 0.9/100 or more, excellent compression set is easily obtained. When the peak area ratio A/B is 1.1/100 or less, excellent moldability is easily obtained.
A peak (for example, a peak group) having a peak top at 5.80 to 6.00 ppm is a peak derived from vinyl hydrogen of the 1,2-isomer of the chloroprene structural unit in the chloroprene polymer. A peak (for example, a peak group) having a peak top at 4.05 to 6.20 ppm is a peak derived from vinyl hydrogen of the chloroprene structural unit in the chloroprene polymer. That is, the peak area ratio A/B of the peak area A at 5.80 to 6.00 ppm and the peak area B at 4.05 to 6.20 ppm of 0.9/100 to 1.1/100 indicates that 0.9/100 to 1.1/100 of the chloroprene structural unit in the chloroprene polymer is the 1,2-isomer.
The peak area ratio A/B may be more than 0.9/100, 1.0/100 or more, or more than 1.0/100, from the viewpoint of easily obtaining excellent compression set. The peak area ratio A/B may be less than 1.1/100, 1.0/100 or less, or less than 1.0/100, from the viewpoint of easily obtaining excellent moldability. From these viewpoints, the peak area ratio A/B may be 0.9/100 to 1.0/100, or 1.0/100 to 1.1/100.
In order to adjust the peak area ratio A/B of the chloroprene polymer, the polymerization temperature when the chloroprene and the unsaturated nitrile are copolymerized may be adjusted, and for example, in order to increase this peak area ratio A/B, copolymerization may be performed by setting the polymerization temperature to 20 to 50° C. (30 to 50° C., 40 to 50° C., or the like).
From the viewpoint of easily obtaining excellent moldability and the viewpoint of easily obtaining excellent oil resistance, compression set, cold resistance, and heat resistance in the vulcanized molded article, the chloroprene polymer may have a peak top at 4.13 to 4.23 ppm in a 1H-NMR spectrum as measured in a deuterochloroform solvent.
In the 1H-NMR spectrum, a peak area ratio D/B of a peak area D at 4.13 to 4.23 ppm and the peak area B at 4.05 to 6.20 ppm may be in the following range. The peak area ratio D/B may be more than 0/100, 0.01/100 or more, more than 0.01/100, 0.02/100 or more, or 0.03/100 or more, from the viewpoint of easily obtaining excellent moldability and the viewpoint of easily obtaining excellent oil resistance, compression set, cold resistance, and heat resistance in the vulcanized molded article. The peak area ratio D/B may be 0.5/100 or less, less than 0.5/100, 0.4/100 or less, 0.3/100 or less, 0.2/100 or less, 0.1/100 or less, 0.05/100 or less, or 0.03/100 or less, from the viewpoint of easily obtaining excellent heat resistance in the vulcanized molded article. From these viewpoints, the peak area ratio D/B may be more than 0/100 and 0.5/100 or less, more than 0/100 and 0.2/100 or less, more than 0/100 and 0.05/100 or less, 0.03/100 to 0.2/100, or 0.03/100 to 0.05/100.
A peak (for example, a peak group) having a peak top at 4.13 to 4.23 ppm is a peak derived from a structure in which water is added to the 1,2-isomer of the chloroprene structural unit in the chloroprene polymer. That is, the peak area ratio D/B of the peak area D at 4.13 to 4.23 ppm and the peak area B at 4.05 to 6.20 ppm indicates a ratio of the structure in which water is added to the 1,2-isomer of the chloroprene structural unit in the chloroprene polymer.
Since water is added to the 1,2-isomer of the chloroprene structural unit by heating, in order to increase the peak area ratio D/B of the chloroprene polymer, a chloroprene polymer latex obtained by copolymerizing chloroprene and an unsaturated nitrile may be heat-treated, for example, at 50 to 70° C. for 5 minutes to 10 hours. At this time, since the aforementioned peak area ratio A/B is decreased, a sufficient amount of the 1,2-isomer may be introduced into the chloroprene polymer in advance.
The chloroprene polymer has a peak top at 5.10 to 5.30 ppm in a 1H-NMR spectrum as measured in a deuterochloroform solvent. In the 1H-NMR spectrum of the chloroprene polymer, the peak area A at 5.80 to 6.00 ppm, the peak area B at 4.05 to 6.20 ppm, and the peak area C at 5.10 to 5.30 ppm satisfy formula “(C−2A)/B≤2.0/100” from the viewpoint of obtaining excellent heat resistance in the vulcanized molded article. That is, a ratio ((C−2A)/B; hereinafter, referred to as “peak area ratio X” in some cases) of a numerical value (C−2A) obtained by subtracting twice the peak area A from the peak area C and the peak area B is 2.0/100 or less.
A peak (for example, a peak group) having a peak top at 5.10 to 5.30 ppm is a peak derived from dihydrogen of the terminal of the 1,2-isomer and monohydrogen of the 3,4-bond in the chloroprene polymer. The numerical value (C−2A) obtained by subtracting twice the peak area A from the peak area C represents the 3,4-bond. The peak area ratio X, which is the ratio of the numerical value (C−2A) and the peak area B, indicates a ratio of the 3,4-isomer of the chloroprene structural unit in the chloroprene polymer. In order to decrease the peak area ratio X of the chloroprene polymer, the polymerization temperature may be lowered.
The peak area ratio X may be 1.8/100 or less, 1.5/100 or less, 1.2/100 or less, 1.0/100 or less, 0.8/100 or less, or 0.5/100 or less, from the viewpoint of easily obtaining excellent heat resistance in the vulcanized molded article. The peak area ratio X may be more than 0/100, 0.1/100 or more, 0.3/100 or more, 0.5/100 or more, 0.8/100 or more, 1.0/100 or more, 1.2/100 or more, or 1.5/100 or more.

The 1H-NMR spectrum can be measured in such a manner that the aforementioned chloroprene polymer is refined with xylene and methanol and freeze-dried to obtain a sample, and then the sample is dissolved in deuterochloroform. Hereinafter, the present invention will be more specifically described on the basis of Examples. Note that, Examples described below are only typical examples of the present invention and the scope of the present invention is not restricted thereby at all.
To a polymerization tank having an inner volume of 3 L and equipped with a heating/cooling jacket and a stirrer, 37 parts by mass of chloroprene (monomer), 37 parts by mass of acrylonitrile (monomer), 0.5 parts by mass of diethylxanthogen disulfide, 200 parts by mass of pure water, 5.00 parts by mass of potassium rosinate (manufactured by Harima Chemicals, Inc.), 0.40 parts by mass of sodium hydroxide, and 2.0 parts by mass of sodium salt of β-naphthalene sulfonic acid formalin condensate (manufactured by Kao Corporation) were added. Next, 0.1 parts by mass of potassium persulfate was added as a polymerization initiator, and then emulsion polymerization was performed under a nitrogen flow at a polymerization temperature of 20° C. Portionwise addition of the chloroprene was started 20 seconds after polymerization initiation, and was continuously performed by adjusting the portionwise addition flow rate with an electromagnetic valve on the basis of the refrigerant calorimetric change for 10 seconds after polymerization initiation and thereafter by re-adjusting the flow rate every 10 seconds. At the time point when the polymerization rate with respect to the total amount of chloroprene and acrylonitrile became 50% by mass, 0.1 parts by mass of phenothiazine as a polymerization inhibitor was added to terminate the polymerization. Thereafter, by removing the unreacted monomer in the reaction solution under reduced pressure, a chloroprene polymer latex (chloroprene-acrylonitrile copolymer latex) was obtained.
The polymerization rate of the chloroprene polymer latex was calculated from the dry mass of the air-dried chloroprene polymer latex. Specifically, calculation was conducted by the Formula (II) below. In the formula, the solid concentration refers to the concentration [% by mass] of the solid fraction obtained by heating 2 g of the sampled chloroprene polymer latex at 130° C. to remove volatile components such as the solvent (water), volatile chemicals, and the raw materials. The total input amount refers to the total amount of the raw materials, the reagents, and the solvent (water) which had been input into the polymerization tank from the polymerization initiation through a certain time. The non-evaporated residual fraction refers to the mass of the chemicals which did not evaporate under a condition of 130° C. and remained as a solid fraction together with the polymer, among the chemicals and the raw materials which had been input from the polymerization initiation through a certain time. The monomer input amount refers to the total amount of the monomer which was input initially to the polymerization tank and the monomer which was added portionwise from the polymerization initiation through a certain time. The “monomer” refers to the total amount of the chloroprene and the acrylonitrile.
Polymerization rate[%]=[{(Total input amount[g]×Solid concentration[% by mass]/100)−(Non-evaporated residual fraction [g])}/Monomer input amount[g]]×100 (II)
The aforementioned chloroprene polymer latex was adjusted to pH 7.0, and freeze-coagulated on a metal plate cooled to −20° C. so as to be demulsified, thereby obtaining a sheet. This sheet was washed with water and dried for 15 minutes at 130° C., thereby obtaining a chloroprene polymer (chloroprene-acrylonitrile copolymer, Polymer 1) in a solid form.
The amount of the structural unit derived from acrylonitrile contained in the chloroprene polymer was calculated from the content of the nitrogen atom in the chloroprene polymer. Specifically, the amount of the structural unit derived from acrylonitrile was calculated by measuring the content of the nitrogen atom in 100 mg of the chloroprene polymer using an element analysis apparatus (SUMIGRAPH 220F: manufactured by Sumika Chemical Analysis Service, Ltd.). The measurement of element analysis was performed under the following conditions. As for the electric furnace temperature, a reaction furnace, a reduction furnace, a column temperature, and a detector temperature were set at 900° C., 600° C., 70° C., and 100° C., respectively, oxygen was flowed as a combustion gas at 0 2 mL/min, and helium was flowed as a carrier gas at 80 mL/min. A calibration curve was made using aspartic acid whose nitrogen content is known (10.52%) as a standard substance. The amount of the structural unit derived from acrylonitrile in the chloroprene polymer was 10% by mass.
The aforementioned chloroprene polymer was refined with xylene and methanol and freeze-dried again, thereby obtaining a sample. The sample was dissolved in deuterochloroform and then the 1H-NMR spectrum was measured. The measurement data were corrected on the basis of the peak (7.24 ppm) of chloroform in deuterochloroform used as a solvent.
