Claims
- 1. A method for facilitating absorption of essential metals to an individual, comprising orally administering to said individual a composition comprising chromium polynicotinate in combination with picolinic acid.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said essential metals are selected from the group consisting of copper, iron, magnesium, manganese and zinc.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the composition is incorporated into a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
- 4. The method of claim 3, wherein said carrier is selected form the group consisting of a tablet, capsule, microbead, emulsion, powder, granule, suspension, syrup and elixir.
- 5. The method of claim 4, wherein said microbead is a sugar beadlet or microcrystalline cellulose beadlet and said chromium polynicotinate and said picolinic acid are coated on said beadlet.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein said chromium polynicotinate and said picolinic acid are administered in a ratio of between about 1:10 and about 10:1 (w/w).
- 7. The method of claim 1, further comprising administering a cyclooxygenase inhibitor, an acid, a mucolytic, a salicin-containing herb, or combinations thereof.
- 8. The method of claim 1, further comprising administering nicotinic acid.
- 9. A method for facilitating absorption of essential metals to an individual, comprising orally administering to said individual a composition comprising chromium polynicotinate in combination with nicotinic acid.
- 10. The method of claim 9, wherein said essential metals are selected from the group consisting of copper, iron, magnesium, manganese and zinc.
- 11. The method of claim 9, wherein the composition is incorporated into a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
- 12. The method of claim 9, wherein said carrier is selected form the group consisting of a tablet, capsule, microbead, emulsion, powder, granule, suspension, syrup and elixir.
- 13. The method of claim 12, wherein said microbead is a sugar beadlet or microcrystalline cellulose beadlet and said chromium polynicotinate and said nicotinic acid are coated on said beadlet.
- 14. The method of claim 9, wherein said chromium polynicotinate and said nicotinic acid are administered in a ratio of between about 1:10 and about 10:1 (w/w).
- 15. The method of claim 9, further comprising administering a cyclooxygenase inhibitor, an acid, a mucolytic, a salicin-containing herb, or combinations thereof.
