Claims
- 1. A circuit interrupter comprising:separable main contacts; an operating mechanism interconnected with said separable main contacts; a housing in which said separable main contacts and said operating mechanism are disposed, said housing including an external side having a mounting cutout, said external accessory device mounting cutout forming an opening into an interior portion of said housing; electrical terminals mounted in spaced relation at an end face of said housing; and a terminal shield interconnected with said housing adjacent said electrical terminals for shielding said electrical terminals, said terminal shield including a tab for covering said external accessory device mounting cutout.
- 2. The circuit interrupter as defined in claim 1 wherein said terminal shield interconnects with said housing by vertically sliding into engagement with said housing.
- 3. The circuit interrupter as defined in claim 2 wherein said housing includes a ledge positioned above and formed by said mounting cutout, and wherein said tab includes a top portion having a chamfered region that channels said tab past said ledge when said terminal shield is vertically slid out of engagement with said housing.
- 4. The circuit interrupter as defined in claim 1 wherein said mounting cutout and said tab are rectangular in shape.
- 5. The circuit interrupter as defined in claim 1 wherein said external side of said housing includes a bottom corner, and wherein said mounting cutout is positioned at said bottom corner.
- 6. The circuit interrupter as defined in claim 1 wherein said housing includes a second external side having a second mounting cutout for mounting of an external accessory device, said second mounting cutout forming a second opening into a second interior portion of said housing, and wherein said terminal shield includes a second tab for covering said second mounting cutout.
- 7. The circuit interrupter as defined in claim 3 wherein said housing includes a second external side having a second mounting cutout for mounting of an external accessory device, said second mounting cutout forming a second opening into a second interior portion of said housing, and wherein said terminal shield includes a second tab for covering said second mounting cutout.
- 8. The circuit interrupter as defined in claim 7 wherein said housing includes a second ledge positioned above and formed by said second mounting cutout, and wherein said second tab includes a second top portion having a second chamfered region that channels said second tab past said second ledge when said terminal shield is vertically slid out of engagement with said housing.
