Claims
- 1. An improved cleaning composition comprising a cleaning effective amount of an isolated proteolytic enzyme the improvement comprising using a proteolytic enzyme characterized by the amino acid sequence of Seq. ID No. 1, having a pH stability profile of from about pH 6-11, such that 40% or more of the enzyme activity remains at a pH from about 6-11, and a suitable cleaning formulation.
- 2. A composition of claim 1 wherein the proteolytic enzyme is a subtilisin derived from a Bacillus sp. strain LG-12.
- 3. A composition of claim 1 wherein the enzyme is made by a process comprising transforming a host cell with a gene coding for the amino acid sequence of Seq. ID No. 1 and expressing the transformant.
- 4. A composition of claim 3 wherein the gene is sprC.
- 5. A composition of claim 3 wherein the host cell is a Bacillus strain.
- 6. A composition of claim 5 wherein the host cell is Bacillus subtilis.
- 7. A composition of claim 1 wherein the formulation is a detergent selected from the group consisting of a linear alkyl benzene sulfonate, alkyl benzene sulfate, sulfated linear alcohol, or ethoxylated linear alcohol.
- 8. A composition of claim 1 wherein the formulation is liquid or granular.
- 9. A composition of claim 1 further comprising one or more surfactants.
- 10. A composition of claim 1 wherein the formulation is a dishcare detergent composition.
- 11. A cleaning composition of claim 1 further comprising one or more additional enzyme selected from the group consisting of protease, amylase, lipase and cellulase or components of cellulase.
