Claims
- 1. A cleaning sheet for removing particulate matter from surfaces, said cleaning sheet comprising a substrate comprising first fibers and second fibers, wherein said first fibers and said second fibers have different deniers, and wherein said cleaning sheet has a caliper of from about 0.3 to about 3 mm.
- 2. The cleaning sheet of claim 1 wherein said cleaning sheet has a caliper of from about 0.5 to about 2 mm.
- 3. The cleaning sheet of claim 2 wherein said cleaning sheet has a caliper of from about 1 to about 1.8 mm.
- 4. The cleaning sheet of claim 1 wherein said first fibers and said second fibers have a denier of from about 0.5 to about 15, and wherein the denier of said second fibers is at least 0.5 greater than the denier of said first fibers.
- 5. The cleaning sheet of claim 4 wherein said first fibers have a denier of from about 1 to about 2 and said second fibers have a denier of from about 2 to about 7, and wherein the denier of said second fibers is at least 0.7 greater than the denier of said first fibers.
- 6. The cleaning sheet of claim 5 wherein said first fibers have a denier of about 1.5 and said second fibers have a denier of about 2.2.
- 7. The cleaning sheet of claim 5 wherein said first fibers have a denier of about 1.5 and said second fibers have a denier of about 6.7.
- 8. The cleaning sheet of claim 1 wherein said first fibers and said second fibers are selected from the group consisting of polyester fibers, polypropylene fibers, polyethylene fibers, nylon fibers, rayon fibers, and mixtures thereof.
- 9. The cleaning sheet of claim 8 wherein said first fibers are polyester fibers and said second fibers are polypropylene fibers.
- 10. The cleaning sheet of claim 9 wherein a ratio of polypropylene fibers to polyester fibers is from about 1:100 to about 100:1.
- 11. The cleaning sheet of claim 10 wherein said ratio of polypropylene fibers to polyester fibers is from about 1:20 to about 10:1.
- 12. The cleaning sheet of claim 11 wherein said ratio of polypropylene fibers to polyester fibers is from about 1:10 to about 1:5.
- 13. The cleaning sheet of claim 1 wherein said cleaning sheet has a total aggregate basis weight of from about 20 to about 200 g/m2.
- 14. The cleaning sheet of claim 13 wherein said cleaning sheet has a total aggregate basis weight of from about 40 to about 100 g/m2.
- 15. The cleaning sheet of claim 14 wherein said cleaning sheet has a total aggregate basis weight of from about 45 to about 80 g/m2.
- 16. The cleaning sheet of claim 1 wherein said first fibers and said second fibers are hydroentangled to form said substrate.
- 17. The cleaning sheet of claim 16 wherein said cleaning sheet is free of a scrim material.
- 18. The cleaning sheet of claim 15 wherein said substrate of said cleaning sheet comprises
(a) a first fibrous web and a second fibrous web comprising said first fibers; and (b) a reinforcing fibrous web; wherein said reinforcing fibrous web comprises said second fibers and wherein said second fibers are selected from the group consisting of thermal bonded fibers, meltblown fibers, and spunbonded fibers; wherein said first fibrous web and said second fibrous web are hydroentangled with said reinforcing fibrous web.
- 19. The cleaning sheet of claim 18 wherein said first fibers of said first fibrous web and said second fibrous web are carded staple fibers.
- 20. The cleaning sheet of claim 19 wherein said cleaning sheet is free of a scrim material.
- 21. The cleaning sheet of claim 18 wherein the ratio of said first fibers to said second fibers is from about 100:1 to about 1:100.
- 22. The cleaning sheet of claim 21 wherein said ratio of said first fibers to said second fibers is from about 10:1 to about 1:20.
- 23. The cleaning sheet of claim 22 wherein said ratio of said first fibers to said second fibers is from about 1:5 to about 1:10.
- 24. The cleaning sheet of claim 18 wherein said substrate is free of cationic surfactant.
- 25. The cleaning sheet of claim 18 wherein said cleaning sheet further comprises an additive material affixed to said substrate.
- 26. The cleaning sheet of claim 25 wherein said additive material is selected from the group consisting of wax, oil, and mixtures thereof.
- 27. A cleaning implement for removing particulate matter from a surface, said cleaning implement comprising:
(a) a handle; (b) a mop head connect to said handle via a joint; and (c) a cleaning sheet according to claim 1, wherein said cleaning sheet is removably attached to said mop head.
- 28. A cleaning implement for removing particulate matter from a surface, said cleaning implement comprising:
(a) a handle; (b) a mop head connect to said handle via a joint; and (c) a cleaning sheet according to claim 18, wherein said cleaning sheet is removably attached to said mop head.
- 29. A method of removing particulate matter from a surface, said method comprising the step of contacting said surface with a cleaning sheet according to claim 1.
- 30. A method of removing particulate matter from a surface, said method comprising the step of contacting said surface with a cleaning sheet according to claim 18.
