Claims
- 1. A system for moving tissue, comprising:
(a) at least one anchor for attachment to the tissue, and (b) at least one non-reactive force applying component for attachment to the anchor without knotting to provide adjustable force.
- 2. The system of claim 1 wherein the force applying component comprises elastomer.
- 3. The system of claim 1 wherein the force applying component further comprises a tension indication feature.
- 4. The system of claim 3 wherein the tension indication feature comprises at least two indicia comprising colorant on the force applying component.
- 5. The system of claim 3 wherein the tension indication feature comprises at least two indicia comprising structure on the force applying component.
- 6. The system of claim 1 wherein the tension is adjustable within an elastic limit of the force applying component.
- 7. The system of claim 1 wherein the force applying component comprises silicone.
- 8. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor further comprises means for locking a silicone force applying component.
- 9. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor further comprises opposed non-parallel structure adapted to secure the force applying component.
- 10. The system of claim 9 further comprising at least one curved surface interface between the opposed non-parallel structure and the force applying component.
- 11. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor further comprises at least one fluke adapted to penetrate the tissue.
- 12. The system of claim 11 wherein the fluke comprises a foot.
- 13. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor further comprises prongs adapted to penetrate the tissue and bend to secure the anchor to the tissue.
- 14. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor further comprises at least one hook adapted to engage the force applying component.
- 15. The system of claim 13 further comprising an eye within the hook.
- 16. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor is adapted to deform to release the force applying component upon application of a predetermined force.
- 17. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor further comprises a body comprising a central opening.
- 18. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue with at least one staple.
- 19. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor comprises a travel way adapted to receive a staple, allowing lateral movement of the anchor relative to the tissue.
- 20. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor comprises hips.
- 21. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue with at least one suture.
- 22. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue using adhesive.
- 23. The system of claim 22 wherein the adhesive comprises a hydrocolloid adhesive.
- 24. The system of claim 1 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue proximate the margin of a wound or incision.
- 25. The system of claim 1 wherein at least two anchors are adapted to be attached to the tissue on opposite sides of a wound or incision.
- 26. The system of claim 1 wherein at least two anchors are adapted for securing at least one force applying component.
- 27. The system of claim 1 wherein the force applying component is laced among at least three anchors.
- 28. The system of claim 1 wherein the force applying component has two ends, the at least one anchor comprises at least three anchors, one end of the force applying component is secured to one of the at least three anchors, a loop formed in the force applying component intermediate its ends engages a second anchor, and the other end of the force applying component is secured to a third anchor.
- 29. The system of claim 1 wherein the force applying component has two ends, one of which is secured to one anchor and the other of which is secured to a second anchor.
- 30. The system of claim 29 wherein the two anchors are attached to tissue on opposite sides of a wound.
- 31. A system for moving tissue comprising:
(a) at least one non-reactive force applying component; and (b) at least one anchor for attachment to the tissue, the anchor comprising at least one curved surface for contact with the force applying component to provide adjustable attachment of the force applying component.
- 32. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor further comprises opposed non-parallel structure for engaging the force applying component.
- 33. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor further comprises side-by-side cylindrical rods.
- 34. The system of claim 31 wherein the force applying component comprises elastomer.
- 35. The system of claim 31 wherein the force applying component comprises silicone.
- 36. The system of claim 31 wherein the force applying component further comprises a tension indication feature.
- 37. The system of claim 36 wherein the tension indication feature is at least two indicia comprising colorant on the force applying component.
- 38. The system of claim 36 wherein the tension indication feature is at least two indicia comprising structure on the force applying component.
- 39. The system of claim 31 wherein the tension is adjustable within an elastic limit of the force applying component.
- 40. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor further comprises a locking wire adapted to secure the force applying component.
- 41. The system of claim 40 further comprising at least one curved surface interface between the locking wire and the force applying component.
- 42. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor further comprises at least one fluke adapted to penetrate the tissue.
- 43. The system of claim 42 wherein the fluke comprises a foot.
- 44. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor further comprise prongs adapted to penetrate the tissue and bend to secure the anchor to the tissue.
- 45. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor further comprises at least one hook adapted to engage the force applying component.
- 46. The system of claim 45 further comprising an eye within the hook.
- 47. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor is adapted to deform to release the force applying component upon application of a predetermined force.
- 48. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor further comprises a body comprising a central opening.
- 49. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue with at least one staple.
- 50. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor comprises a travel way adapted to receive a staple, allowing lateral movement of the anchor relative to the tissue.
- 51. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor comprises hips.
- 52. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue with at least one suture.
- 53. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue using adhesive.
- 54. The system of claim 53 wherein the adhesive is a hydrocolloid adhesive.
- 55. The system of claim 31 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue proximate the margin of a wound or incision.
- 56. The system of claim 31 wherein at least two anchors are adapted to be attached to the tissue on opposite sides of a wound or incision.
- 57. The system of claim 31 wherein at least two anchors secure at least one force applying component.
- 58. The system of claim 31 wherein the force applying component is laced among at least three anchors.
- 59. The system of claim 31 wherein the force applying component has two ends, the at least one anchor comprises at least three anchors, one end of the force applying component is secured to one of the at least three anchors, a loop formed in the force applying component intermediate its ends engages a second anchor, and the other end of the force applying component is secured to a third anchor.
- 60. The system of claim 31 wherein the force applying component has two ends, one of which is secured to one anchor and the other of which is secured to a second anchor.
- 61. The system of claim 60 wherein the two anchors are attached to the tissue on opposite sides of a wound.
- 62. An anchor for attachment to tissue to transmit force for moving the tissue, the anchor comprising opposed non-parallel structure for engagement with a non-reactive elastomer without cutting or knotting the elastomer.
- 63. The anchor of claim 62, wherein the non-parallel structure comprises two plates.
- 64. The anchor of claim 63 wherein one of the two plates is planar and the other comprises at least a portion of a truncated conical surface.
- 65. The anchor of claim 62, wherein the non-parallel structure comprises wire.
- 66. The anchor of claim 62 wherein the non-parallel structure comprises a split post supporting fragments of truncated conical sections.
- 67. The anchor of claim 62 wherein the anchor is adapted to adjustably secure elastomer.
- 68. The anchor of claim 62 wherein the anchor is adapted to secure elastomer comprising silicone.
- 69. The anchor of claim 62 wherein the opposed non-parallel structure comprises two side-by-side cylindrical rods.
- 70. The anchor of claim 62 wherein the anchor further comprises at least one fluke adapted to penetrate the tissue.
- 71. The anchor of claim 62 wherein the fluke comprises a foot.
- 72. The anchor of claim 62 further comprising prongs adapted to penetrate the tissue and bend to secure the anchor to the tissue.
- 73. The anchor of claim 62 wherein the anchor further comprises at least one hook adapted to engage the force applying component.
- 74. The anchor of claim 73 further comprising an eye within the hook.
- 75. The anchor of claim 62 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue with at least one staple.
- 76. The anchor of claim 62 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue with at least one suture.
- 77. The anchor of claim 62 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue using adhesive.
- 78. The anchor of claim 75 wherein the adhesive is a hydrocolloid adhesive.
- 79. The anchor of claim 62 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue proximate the margin of a wound or incision.
- 80. A system for moving tissue comprising:
(a) at least one anchor for attachment to the tissue, the anchor comprising opposed non-parallel structure adapted to secure the force applying component and an aperture; and (b) at least one non-reactive force applying component for attachment to the anchor without knotting, wherein the force applying component passes through the tissue and through the aperture in the anchor.
- 81. The system of claim 80 wherein the force applying component comprises elastomer.
- 82. The system of claim 80 wherein the force applying component comprises silicone.
- 83. The system of claim 80 further comprising at least one arcuate interface between the opposed non-parallel structure and the force applying component.
- 84. The anchor of claim 80, wherein the non-parallel structure comprises two plates.
- 85. The anchor of claim 84 wherein one of the two plates is planar and the other comprises at least a portion of a truncated conical surface.
- 86. The anchor of claim 80, wherein the non-parallel structure comprises wire.
- 87. The anchor of claim 80 wherein the non-parallel structure comprises a split post supporting fragments of truncated conical sections.
- 88. The anchor of claim 80 wherein the elastomer is adjustably secured to the anchor.
- 89. The anchor of claim 80 wherein the opposed non-parallel structure comprises two side-by-side cylindrical rods.
- 90. The system of claim 80 wherein the anchor further comprises at least one fluke adapted to penetrate the tissue.
- 91. The system of claim 80 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue with at least one staple.
- 92. The system of claim 80 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue with adhesive.
- 93. The system of claim 92 wherein the adhesive comprises hydrocolloid adhesive.
- 94. The system of claim 80 wherein the anchor is adapted to be attached to the tissue proximate the margin of a wound or incision.
- 95. A system for moving tissue comprising:
(a) at least one non-reactive force applying component; (b) elastic fabric and for distributing the force applied to the tissue, the fabric comprising adhesive for attachment to the tissue and structure for securing the at least one non-reactive force applying component without knotting or cutting the force applying component; wherein the system provides tension that is adjustable.
- 96. The system of claim 95 wherein the force applying component comprises elastomer.
- 97. The system of claim 95 wherein the force applying component comprises silicone.
- 98. The system of claim 95 wherein the fabric further comprises opposed non-parallel structure adapted to secure the force applying component.
- 99. The system of claim 98 further comprising at least one arcuate interface between the opposed non-parallel structure and the force applying component.
- 100. The system of claim 95 wherein the fabric is adapted to be attached to the tissue proximate the margin of a wound or incision.
- 101. The system of claim 95 wherein the adhesive is a hydrocolloid adhesive.
- 102. A method for moving and stretching plastic tissue comprising:
(a) evaluating the needed direction of movement or stretching of the tissue; (b) determining a number of anchors to employ; (c) installing at least one anchor; (d) securing at least one non-reactive force applying component having two ends to the at least one anchor without knotting the force applying component; (e) adjusting tension by removing and re-securing the at least one force applying component to the at least one anchor.
- 103. The method of claim 102 wherein the installing the at least one anchor further comprises creating guide marks using a marking instrument.
- 104. The method of claim 102 wherein the installing the at least one anchor further comprises attaching the at least one anchor to the tissue with at least one staple.
- 105. The method of claim 102 wherein the installing the at least one anchor further comprises attaching the at least one anchor to the tissue with at least one suture.
- 106. The method of claim 102 wherein the installing the at least one anchor further comprises attaching the at least one anchor to the tissue with adhesive.
- 107. The method of claim 102 further comprising dressing the area of application prior to securing the force applying component.
- 108. The method of claim 102 wherein the securing the force applying component further comprises securing one end of the force applying component to opposed non-parallel structure of a first anchor, lacing the force applying component around a hook of a second anchor, and securing the other end of the force applying component to a opposed non-parallel structure of a third anchor.
- 109. The method of claim 102 wherein the adjusting tension further comprises referring to a tension indication feature of the force applying component.
- 110. The method of claim 102 wherein said securing the force applying component further comprises securing a first end of the force applying component to a first anchor and securing a second end of the force applying component to a second anchor.
- 111. The method of claim 102 wherein installing the at least one anchor further comprises inserting into the tissue prongs that bend and engage the tissue, attaching the anchor to the tissue.
- 112. The method of claim 95, further comprising inserting the force applying component through the tissue.
- 113. A kit of components for moving and stretching plastic tissue, comprising:
(a) at least one non-reactive force applying component; (b) at least two anchors each comprising opposed non-parallel structure for securing the non-reactive force applying component; and (c) packaging surrounding the anchors.
- 114. The kit of claim 113 wherein the force applying component comprises elastomer.
- 115. The kit of claim 113 wherein the force applying component comprises silicone.
- 116. The kit of claim 113 wherein the at least two anchors each further comprise a hook adapted to engage a force applying component.
- 117. The kit of claim 113 wherein the at least two anchors each further comprise at least one fluke for engaging the tissue.
- 118. The kit of claim 113 wherein the at least two anchors each further comprise adhesive.
- 119. The kit of claim 118 wherein the adhesive comprises a hydrocolloid adhesive.
- 120. The kit of claim 113 further comprising elastic fabric.
- 121. The kit of claim 113 further comprising a marking instrument.
- 122. The kit of claim 113 further comprising a trocar.
- 123. The kit of claim 113 further comprising a stapler.
