- a stop member configured to prevent the first and second housing members from being placed in the closed configuration when the stylus is not present in the stylus receiver, and further configured to allow the first and second housing members to be placed in the closed configuration when at least a portion of the stylus is received within the stylus receiver.
- 2. The closure system of claim 1 further comprising an aperture located on the second housing member for receiving the stop member and a blocking member coupled to the second housing member and configured to block at least a portion of the aperture so as to prevent the stop member from extending through the aperture when the stylus is not received within the stylus receiver, the blocking member further moving in relation to the aperture so as to allow the stop member to extend through the aperture when the stylus is received within the stylus receiver.
- 3. The closure system of claim 1, further comprising:
- a latch, coupled to the first housing member;
- a latch release, coupled to the second housing member; and
- a latch aperture located on the second housing member in mating alignment with the latch such that when the first and second housing members are in the closed configuration, the latch extends through the latch aperture and engages the latch release so as to secure the first and second housing members in the closed configuration.
- 4. The closure system of claim 1, wherein the stop member is attached to the first housing member, the closure system further comprising an aperture located on the second housing member, the aperture and the stop member being matingly aligned such that the stop member extends through the aperture when the first housing member and the second housing member are in the closed configuration and the stylus is received within the stylus receiver.
- 5. The closure system of claim 2 further comprising a blocking member coupled to the second housing member and configured to block at least a portion of the aperture so as to prevent the stop member from extending through the aperture when the stylus is not received within the stylus receiver, the blocking member further moving in relation to the aperture so as to allow the stop member to extend through the aperture when the stylus is received within the stylus receiver.
- 6. The closure system of claim 5, wherein the blocking member has at least a first surface and a second surface, the blocking member being biased by a spring acting against the first surface, wherein the blocking member is slidably dislocated so as to allow at least a portion of the stop member to pass through the aperture in the second housing member when the stylus is received within the stylus receiver and urges the blocking member by contacting the second surface.
- 7. The closure system of claim 2, further comprising:
- at least one hinge; and
- a biasing spring, coupled to the at least one hinge, wherein the first housing member is coupled to the second housing member by the at least one hinge and the biasing spring biases the first housing member to swing away from the second housing member.
- 8. The closure system of claim 2 wherein:
- the stylus receiver comprises a channel located within the second housing member and configured to receive the stylus therein; and
- the blocking member is positioned adjacent to the channel and configured to obstruct the aperture when the stylus is not present in the channel, and wherein when the stylus is inserted into the channel, the stylus engages the blocking member so as to move the blocking member away from the aperture such that the blocking member does not obstruct the aperture.
- 9. The closure system of claim 8, further comprising a pin having an axis and disposed at least partly within the second housing member, wherein the blocking member rotates about the axis of the pin during insertion or removal of the stylus.
- 10. A closure system, comprising:
- an electronic device having a screen capable of receiving information from a user;
- a stylus for inputting information to the electronic device via said screen;
- a first housing member;
- a second housing member, the second housing member being coupled to the first housing member and configured to matingly contact the first housing member in a closed configuration;
- a stylus channel located within the second housing member for receiving the stylus therein;
- a stop member coupled to the first housing member;
- an aperture located in the second housing member, wherein when the first and second housing members are in a closed configuration, the stop member extends through the aperture; and
- a blocking member, located at least partly within the second housing member, wherein, when the stylus is not positioned within the stylus channel, the blocking member is positioned to obstruct at least a portion of the aperture so as to prevent the stop member from extending through the aperture.
- 11. The system of claim 10 further comprising:
- at least one hinge coupled to the first and second housing members so as to rotatably couple the first housing member to the second housing member; and
- a biasing spring, coupled to the at least one hinge, which biases the first housing member to rotate about the at least one hinge away from the second housing member when the stylus is not positioned within the stylus channel.
- 12. The system of claim 10 further comprising:
- a latch, coupled to the first housing member;
- a latch release, coupled to the second member; and
- a latch aperture located on the second housing member in mating alignment with the latch such that, when the first and second housing members are in the closed configuration, the latch extends through the latch aperture and engages the latch release so as to secure the first and second housing members in the closed configuration.
- 13. A closure system comprising:
- a computing device having a screen capable of receiving information from a user, a first housing member, and a second housing member rotatably coupled to the first housing member and configured to matingly contact the first housing member in a closed configuration;
- a stylus for inputting information to the computing device via said screen,
- channel means, located within the second housing member, for receiving the stylus therein; and
- means for preventing the first housing and second housing members from being placed in the closed configuration when the stylus is not positioned within the channel means.
- 14. The system of claim 13 wherein the means for preventing comprises:
- a stop member coupled to the first housing member;
- an aperture formed at least partly within the second housing member, wherein, when the first and second housing members are in the closed configuration, the stop member extends through the aperture; and
- a blocking member, located within the second housing member, wherein, when the stylus is not positioned within the channel means, the blocking member is positioned to at least partially obstruct the aperture so as to prevent the stop member from extending through the aperture, thereby preventing the first housing member from closing with respect to the second housing member.
- 15. The system of claim 14 further comprising means for latching the first housing member in a closed position with respect to the second housing member, when the stylus is positioned within the channel means.
- 16. The system of claim 15 wherein the means for latching comprises:
- a latch, coupled to the first housing member;
- a latch release, coupled to the second housing member; and
- a latch aperture formed at least partly within the second housing member and in mating alignment with the latch such that when the first and second housing members are in the closed configuration, the latch extends through the latch aperture and engages the latch release to secure the first and second housing members in the closed configuration.
- 17. The system of claim 16 further comprising:
- hinge means for rotatably coupling the first housing member to the second housing member; and
- biasing means for biasing the first housing member to rotate about the at least one hinge away from the second housing member when the stylus is not within the channel means.
