Claims
- 1. For use in an hydraulic system providing a pressure outlet (202) regulated thereby according to a master pressure setting and including hi (56) and lo (D) pressure conduits:
- valve assembly means (40) with a common bore (176) therein hydraulically disposed for communicating with said conduits;
- an hydropotentiometer member (44) in said bore, independently slidable therein and having a double spool portion (252, 260);
- means forming a restricted orifice (262, 264) of appreciable length along the double spools and covered by companion sections of the bore (176);
- means (182, 224) to communicate the bore with the hi and lo pressure conduits for applying specified pressure to said hydropotentiometer member at points causing flow of hydraulic fluid through said orifice from one end portion to another so as to fix a pressure gradient therealong between hi and lo;
- a pressure setting take-off (266) in said hydropotentiometer member connected between a first end (254) of the latter and a communicating point on the double spool portion which intervenes (at 266) so as to divide the double spools and to divide the restricted orifice into two oppositely extending sections maintaining the pressure gradient from hi to lo; and
- master signal setting means (42) mechanically secured to the opposite end of the hydropotentiometer member by a pull connection (144) for longitudinally adjusting the relative position of the hydropotentiometer member and bore and consequently the relative position of the pressure setting take-off (266 between the orifice sections) and the covering sections of the bore;
- said first end (254) of the hydropotentiometer member (44) having a pressure sensitive end area in constant communication with the master setting signal pressure set according to the pull connection adjustment of the master pressure setting.
- 2. For use in an hydraulic system providing a pressure outlet (202) regulated thereby according to a master pressure setting and including hi (56) and lo (D) pressure conduits:
- valve assembly means (40) with a common bore (176) therein hydraulically disposed for communicating with said conduits;
- means forming, along an independently slidable hydropotentiometer member (44) in said common bore, a restricted orifice (262, 264) of appreciable length;
- means (182, 224) of communicating said bore with the hi and lo pressure conduits for applying specified pressure causing flow of hydraulic fluid through the orifice from one end portion to another so as to fix a pressure differential therealong between hi and lo;
- master signal setting means (42) mechanically secured to one end of the hydropotentiometer member (44) by a pull connection (144) for relatively longitudinally adjusting the position of the hydropotentiometer member and bore;
- means including a projecting opposite end (254) of the hydropotentiometer member defining an inter-valve chamber which is in said common bore and into which said member's end projects; and
- a pressure setting take-off making a connection between a point (266) on the restricted orifice longitudinally adjustable in correspondance with the master signal setting and said projecting opposite end (254) of the hydropotentiometer member to exert signal pressure in said inter-valve chamber in accordance with the pull connection adjustment of the master signal pressure setting.
- 3. The invention according to claims 1 or 2, characterized by:
- linkage (154) in said pull connection (144) mechanically securing together the master signal setting means and hydropotentiometer member for precisely coordinated movement, said pressure setting take-off (266) causing proportional decreases in the signal pressure as the pull connection pulls along the hydropotentiometer member causing progressive increases in the length of its longitudinal adjustment.
- 4. For use in an hydraulic system regulated according to a master pressure setting and including hi (56) and lo (D) pressure conduits:
- signal-pressure setting valve assemby means (40) with a bore (176) therein hydraulically disposed for communicating with said conduits and controllably connecting the hi and lo pressure conduits for setting the signal pressure;
- said assembly means comprising an hydropotentiometer spool (44) for establishing the signal pressure and having a pressure sensitive end area (254) extending in such way into, and defining in such way one end of, a signal pressure chamber (270) in said bore so that the established pressure on the hydraulic fluid at points in the bore chamber is set as the signal pressure, said hydropotentiometer having a second end portion (44, FIG. 1);
- said hydropotentiometer spool being of an elongated shape so as to vary the signal pressure established thereby between the hi and lo pressure conduits from a maximum to a minimum proportionately along its length and specifically from the maximum to the minimum as the pressure sensitive end area takes movement in a direction of withdrawal from said bore chamber; and
- heavy means (146) biasing the second end portion (44, FIG. 1) in continual opposition to the signal pressure on the spool end area (254) as the signal pressure thereon proportionately reduces from maximum to minimum when the end area takes its movement in the direction of withdrawal from said bore chamber;
- said second end portion protruding externally from the valve assembly means and providing a master signal setting pull connection for causing the end area to take its movement in the direction of withdrawal thereby causing that signal pressure thereon to proportionately reduce from maximum to minimum as desired.
