1. Field of Invention
The present invention relates to a coffee pot or carafe that includes a unique design for a drip-proof spout.
2. Description of Related Art
Teapots, coffee pots or similar pouring vessels are used to contain and pour liquid beverages for consumption. A typical liquid beverage vessel includes a handle, a container and a pouring spout. The vessel may be tilted to discharge the liquids into a cup or glass for consumption. Liquid exits the spout during the pouring process and as a consequence dribble or dripping may occur. The dripping may stain or necessitate the need for clean up of a surface that receives the drippings from the spout.
Many coffee pot consumers use coffeemakers that include a glass or other type of carafe that receives the coffee as it's made through the coffeemaker. The coffee pots or carafes used in the conventional coffeemakers do not have adequate spouts or designs that may eliminate or diminish drippings or spills, therefore the spouts used on the pots and carafes of the prior art may be insufficient to eliminate or reduce the likelihood of spillage or dripping when pouring liquid from the vessel.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,547,012 discloses a dripless vessel with a flange at its upper end which is angled at about 30 degrees with respect to the horizontal and is contoured to provide a smooth surface for pouring liquids. Another example of a spout to address dripping is U.S. Pat. No. 5,169,040 which discloses a dripless spout that includes a surface having a lip over which a liquid to be poured may flow in a channel formed in the surface extending over at least a portion of the surface of the lip. Although devices of the prior art have been developed to address the dripping of a spout from the vessel further development of such a device that may be utilized with modern coffeemakers would be advantageous.
The present invention relates to a beverage container with a spill preventing spout comprising: a vessel, where said vessel holds a liquid beverage; a handle, where said handle is attached to the side of the vessel; and a spout extending from an opening near the base of the vessel, where said spout includes a tip that extends above the highest point of the vessel and said tip allows for the pouring of the liquid from the vessel. The vessel may include a lid where the lid includes an opening to allow the flow of beverage into the vessel.
The present invention relates to a coffee pot that includes a drip-proof spout to alleviate or eliminate dripping that may be associated with pouring liquid from the pot. The pot according to the present invention includes a stainless steel carafe with a sturdy handle and a drip-proof designed spout attached thereto. The design of the present invention diminishes the likelihood of dripping or dribble when using the pot to pour liquid there from.
A coffee pot 10 according to the present invention is depicted in
The coffee pot 10 may be used with a conventional coffeemaker however it is capable of pouring the liquid contents thereof to eliminate or diminish the likelihood of dripping or spill. The Vessel 19, Handle 14 and Spout 12 may be made of a stainless steel construction to provide a sturdy vessel with sufficient insulation in order to keep the beverage hot or cold as desired by the user. The Lid 15 includes Opening 17 so that the coffee pot 10 may be placed on a conventional coffeemaker and provides a receptacle vessel for the coffee made through the coffeemaker.
