Abstract
A box cover includes a cover panel, a pair of first side panels, and a pair of second side panels. After assembly, the box cover is collapsable.
Description
BACKGROUND

1. Technical Field

The present disclosure relates to box covers, and more particularly to a box cover which facilitates storage and transportation.

2. Description of Related Art

Referring to FIGS. 4 and 5, a typical box cover may include a cover panel 102, a pair of first side panels 104 extending from a first pair of opposite edges of the cover panel 102, and a pair of second side panels 106 extending from a second pair of opposite edges of the cover panel 102. A pair of glue panels 108 is located at opposite ends of each of the first side panels 104. After the box cover is folded from an unassembled state (see FIG. 4) to an assembled state (see FIG. 5), the first side panels 104 and the second side panels 106 are folded to be perpendicular to the cover panel 102. The glue panels 108 are folded and adhered to the interior surfaces the second side panels 106. However, the assembled box cover, which is thicker than an unassembled box cover, takes up considerable storage space, which does not facilitate economical storage and transportation.

Therefore, there is room for improvement within the art.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a developed (flat) view of a box cover according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure.

FIG. 2 is an assembled schematic view of the assembled box cover in FIG. 1.

FIG. 3 is a collapsed view of the box cover of FIG. 2.

FIG. 4 is a developed (flat) view of a typical box cover.

FIG. 5 is an assembled schematic view of the box cover in FIG. 4.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The disclosure is illustrated by way of example and not by way of limitation. In the figures of the accompanying drawings in which like references indicate similar elements. It should be noted that references to “an” or “one” embodiment in this disclosure are not necessarily to the same embodiment, and such references mean at least one.

Referring to FIG. 1, an exemplary embodiment of a box cover 10 comprises an integral panel (such as a sheet of paperboard) which is divided into several parts: a cover panel 12, a pair of first side panels 14, a pair of second side panels 16, and four glue panels 145 located at four corners of the cover panel 12. The cover panel 12 has a rectangle shape with four vertices. Each of the first side panels 14 is connected with the cover panel 12 by a first score 11. Each of the second side panels 16 is connected with the cover panel 12 by a second score 13. Each of the glue panels 145 has a square shape and connects with the first side panels 14 by a third score 143. Each of the first side panels 14 has a pair of diagonal perforated fold lines 141 at opposite corners thereof. Each of the diagonal perforated fold lines 141 extends from one of the vertices of the cover panel 12 to an outer edge of the corresponding first side panel 14. An angle between the first score 11 and each of the diagonal perforated fold lines 141 may be 45 degrees. A cut 147 is defined between the glue panel 145 and the second side panel 16 at each of the four corners of the cover panel 12. In an exemplary embodiment, a width of each of the first side panels 14 is substantially equal to the width of the second side panels 16.

Referring to FIG. 2, to fold the box cover 10 into an assembled state, the first side panels 14 and the second side panels 16 are folded along the first scores 11 and the second scores 13 to form a certain angle (typically 90 degrees). The glue panels 145 are folded and affixed to inner surfaces of the second side panels 16.

Referring to FIG. 3, to fold the assembled box cover 10 into a collapsed state, triangular corners 14a of the first side panels 14 and the second side panels 16 are folded inwardly along the diagonal perforated fold lines 141 and the second scores 13 until abutting on an inner side of the cover panel 12. Simultaneously, a trapezoidal-shaped main portion 14b of each of the first side panels 14 is folded out into a collapsed position onto the cover panel 12. In the collapsed state, the box cover 10 takes up less storage space than that of a box cover 10 being shipped assembled and not collapsed, which improves storage and increases transportation yield.

While the present disclosure has been illustrated by the description of preferred embodiments thereof, and while the preferred embodiments have been described in considerable detail, it is not intended to restrict or in any way limit the scope of the appended claims to such details. Additional advantages and modifications within the spirit and scope of the present disclosure will readily appear to those skilled in the art. Therefore, the present disclosure is not limited to the specific details and illustrative examples shown and described.
