The disclosure relates to snack bag support device and more particularly pertains to a new snack bag support device for supporting a snack bag.
The prior art relates to snack bag support devices. The prior art relates to a variety of snack bag support devices having a clamp mechanism used to secure an edge of the snack bag. Known prior art lacks a snack bag support device having a clamp mechanism to secure a lower edge of a snack bag and a vertical support to position the bag in an upright position.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a base having a top side and a bottom side. The base includes a first end, a second end, a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge. A bag engagement member is mounted on the base and releasably engages a bottom of an open bag. A vertical support is attached to the base and extends upwardly therefrom. The vertical support receives a side edge of the open bag to retain the side edge in a vertical orientation.
In another embodiment, a method of engaging a side edge of a bag containing food with a vertical support extending upwardly from a top side of a base. The bag has a bottom edge positioned adjacent to the base. Furthermore, the method includes coupling the bottom edge to the base with a bag engagement member, wherein the bag is retained on the base and in an upright orientation.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
A bag engagement member 30 is mounted on the base 12 and is configured to releasably engage a bottom 34 of the open bag 32. The bag engagement member 30 includes a clip 38. The clip 38 has a pair of jaws 40 positioned opposite of a pair of grips 42. The pair of grips 42 is actuated to open the jaws 40, yet the jaws 40 are biased toward a closed position. The jaws 40 extend upwardly from the top side 14 of the base 12. The jaws 40 are positioned in a central area 44 of the top side 14.
A vertical support 46 is attached to the base 12 and extends upwardly therefrom. The vertical support 46 is configured to receive a side edge 36 of the open bag 32 to retain the side edge 36 in a vertical orientation. The vertical support 46 includes a first side wall 48, a second side wall 50, and a back wall 52. The first side wall 48 extends upwardly from the top side 14. The second side wall 50 extends upwardly from the top side 14, and is laterally spaced from the first side wall 48. The back wall 52 is attached to and extends between the first 48 and second 50 side walls. The back wall 52 extends upwardly from the top side 14, wherein an opening 54 is defined between the first 48 and second 50 side walls and opposite of the back wall 52. The side edge 36 of the open bag 32 is extendable between the first 48 and second 50 side walls and abuttable against the back wall 52.
The first 48 and second 50 side walls may be pivotally coupled to the base 12 such that the vertical support 46 is pivotable between an upright position 56 and a stored position 58. The vertical support 46 is positioned nearer the first end 18 such that the bag engagement member 30 is positioned between the vertical support 46 and the second end 20. The back wall 52 is positioned adjacent to the first end 18. A plurality of legs 60 is attached to and extends downwardly from the bottom side 16 of the base 12. A middle area 62 of the bottom side 16 is free of the legs 60.
In use, the plurality of legs 60 is configured for being positioned on a lateral surface. Furthermore, the bottom side 16 of the base 12 can be positioned on a pair of adjacent cup holders wherein the plurality of legs 60 extends downward therefrom into the pair of adjacent cup holders to retain the base 12 in a fixed position upon the adjacent cup holders. The bottom 34 of the open bag 32 is secured within the jaws 40 of the clip 38. The side edge 36 of the open bag 32 is nested between the first 48 and second 50 side walls of the vertical support 46 to restrain the open bag 32 from leaning forward or backward. Subsequently, the open bag 32 is positioned upright and retained in a fixed position from tilting over.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
