Claims
- 1. A collapsible stand for holding common plastic, vinyl or similar bags comprising:
a sleeve-shaped receptacle, open at the top and bottom, equipped with a plurality of break-out retainers situated along the top rim or edge of said receptacle, which retainers prevent the top of the bag from slipping into the receptacle.
- 2. The stand of claim 1, wherein the sleeve is multi-sided and equal sided, with panels so numbered and spaced as to cause the stand to lie flat or be folded flat when collapsed.
- 3. The stand of claim 1, wherein the retainers are finger-like tabs, with up-side-down tips or heads slightly wider than open slots above the finger portion, cheaply manufactured by stamping or dye cutting cutting into the top rim of the stand. The stand or can equipped with said cheaply manufactured break-a-way retainers may be shipped and sold with the tabs in tact, i.e. not broken out. When punched out by the user from the inside of the stand, the user snaps the heads or tips of the tabs into narrower open slots cut above the tabs, which are situated in the rim of the stand or can. This traps the top edge of the bag that had been folded or stretched over the outside rim of the stand, or can, when the bag was inserted.
- 4. When open, with bag inserted, the stand is malleable to many different shapes, including round, elliptic, rectangular, boomerang-shaped, half-moon, star shaped and so-forth so that the stand may fit into spaces the typical circular or rectangle trashcan cannot.
- 5. The stand of claim 3 which further comprises multiple tabs, accommodating loading of successive layers of bags by use of alternating tabs, so that an empty bag may remain loaded on the stand ready for use after extraction of a filled bag.
- 6. The stand of claim 1 which further comprises, cut-out slots and break-out tabs, along the top rim of trash bag stands or trashcans, for retaining trash bag liners, as follows: The tabs, which extend down from a band below open slots at the top rim of the stand or can, are cut far enough below the slots so the tabs may remain attached to a sturdy band between the slots and the tabs, yet are situated high enough so the wider heads of the tabs, when folded out and up and punched back through the narrower slots above, retain and trap the outside lip of the bag as close to the top of the stand or can as possible.
