Claims
- 1. A color image copying apparatus comprising:
- reading means for reading an original image and for outputting a plurality of color component signals;
- first means for discriminating an edge portion of the original image;
- second means for discriminating a plurality of color components near the edge portion;
- means for judging a characteristic of the original image in accordance with outputs from said first and second discriminating means; and
- means for forming a color image, said color image forming means being able to change resolution in accordance with a result output by said judging means.
- 2. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said reading means further comprises a color filter and a photosensor.
- 3. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said first means further comprises delay means for delaying the plurality of color component signals, and means for processing the plurality of color component signals delayed by said delaying means and the plurality of color component signals not yet delayed by said delaying means.
- 4. A color image processing method comprising the steps of:
- discriminating a black character portion from a given color image signal;
- emphasizing black and changing a resolution of a color image forming device with regard to the discriminated black character portion; and
- supplying the color image signal processed in said emphasizing step to the color image forming device,
- wherein said resolution is changed to first resolution suitable for an image forming of a portion which is not the black character portion and a second resolution suitable for an image forming of a portion which is the black character portion, said second resolution being higher than the first resolution.
- 5. A method according to claim 4, wherein said emphasizing step comprises black monocolor processing.
- 6. A method according to claim 4, wherein the resolution of the color image forming device is variable, and further comprising the step of processing the color image signal to vary the resolution of the image to be formed.
- 7. A method according to claim 4, further comprising the step of reading an original to generate the color image signal.
- 8. A method according to claim 4, wherein the black character portion discriminated in said discriminating step is a portion at an edge portion and having a high black level.
- 9. A color image copying method comprising the steps of:
- reading an original image;
- outputting a plurality of color component signals;
- discriminating an edge portion of the original image;
- discriminating a plurality of color components near the edge portion;
- judging a characteristic of the original image in accordance with the discriminations of the edge portion and of the plurality of color components near the edge portion;
- forming a color image, wherein resolution is changed in accordance with a result of the judging step.
- 10. A color image copying method according to claim 9, wherein the step of reading further comprises using a color filter and a photosensor.
- 11. A color image copying method according to claim 9, wherein the step of discriminating the edge portion further comprises a step of delaying the plurality of color component signals, and processing the plurality of color component signals delayed in the delaying step and the plurality of color component signals not yet delayed in the delaying step.
