Claims
- 1. An image forming apparatus comprising:a belt-form image carrier for forming a toner image of a different color on a periphery thereof every rotation so as to be aligned; a drive member for rotating said belt-form image carrier supported thereby; a driven member for entraining said belt-form image carrier, said driven member being rotatable by rotation of said belt-form image carrier; and cleaning means disposed so as to be separable from and contactable with said belt-form image carrier, wherein a length from a toner image formation position on said belt-form image carrier to a cleaning position on said belt-form image carrier is shorter than a length of an image being formed by said image forming apparatus.
- 2. An image forming apparatus comprising:a belt-form image carrier for forming a toner image of a different color on a periphery thereof every rotation so as to be aligned; a drive member for rotating said belt-form image carrier supported thereby; a driven member for entraining said belt-form image carrier, said driven member being rotatable by rotation of said belt-form image carrier; cleaning means disposed so as to be separable from and contactable with said belt-form image carrier, and after start of formation of a first toner image onto said belt-form image carrier, said cleaning means being placed in a cleaning position in contact with said belt-form image carrier from a separated position from said belt-form image carrier before completion of the formation of a toner image of a last color onto said belt-form image carrier, and rotation period difference adjusting means for adjusting so as to fall within a predetermined range a difference between a first rotation period of said belt-form image carrier when a first toner image is formed and a second rotation period of said belt-form image carrier when a second toner image is formed, in the case that said toner image including said first toner image is formed on said rotating belt-form image carrier when said cleaning means is situated at said separated position, and said second toner image is formed on said rotating belt-form image carrier when said cleaning means is situated at said cleaning position.
- 3. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 2, whereinsaid difference between said first and second rotation periods is not more than 1 msec.
- 4. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 2, whereinsaid rotation period difference adjusting means is provided on at least one of said drive member and said belt-form image carrier.
- 5. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 2, whereinsaid cleaning means abuts a portion of said belt-form image carrier which is supported about a drive roller as said drive member, and said rotation period difference adjusting means comprises an average friction factor between contact surfaces of said drive roller and said belt-form image carrier is not less than 0.1 and not more than 0.45.
- 6. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 5, whereinsaid rotation period difference adjusting means comprises a maximum friction force of said drive roller for said belt-form image carrier is not less than 2.5 Kgf and not more than 6.0 Kgf, a tension of said belt-form image carrier is not less than 2 Kgf and not more than 4 Kgf, and an angle of entrainment of said belt-form image carrier about said drive roller is not less than 90 degrees and not more than 180 degrees.
- 7. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 2, whereinsaid rotation period difference adjusting means comprises said drive member which is a roller whose surface which comes into contact with said belt-form image carrier is made of a metal material.
- 8. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 7, whereinsaid surface of said drive roller which comes into contact with said belt-form image carrier has a surface roughness of not more than Ra6.3 μm.
- 9. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 2, whereinsaid rotation period difference adjusting means comprises a lubricant which reduces the friction factor between said drive member and said belt-form image carrier is applied to contact surfaces of said drive member and said belt-form image carrier.
- 10. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 9, whereinsaid drive member has a metal material as its base material, and a part or a whole of a surface of said drive member which comes into contact with said belt-form image carrier is coated with a low-friction material as said lubricant having a lower friction factor than said base material.
- 11. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 9, whereina part or a whole of an inner surface of said belt-form image carrier which comes into contact with said drive member is coated with a low-friction material as said lubricant having a lower friction factor than a base material of said belt-form image carrier.
- 12. An image forming apparatus comprising:a belt-form image carrier wherein on a periphery thereof, a toner image is formed so as to be aligned; a drive member about which said belt-form image carrier is supported, said drive member rotating said belt-form image carrier; a driven member about which said belt-form image carrier is supported, said driven member being rotatable by being driven by rotation of said belt-form image carrier; image forming process means disposed so as to be separable from and contactable with said belt-form image carrier, said image forming process means being capable of being situated at a non-working position where said image forming process means is separated from said belt-form image carrier and at a working position where said image forming process means is in contact with said belt-form image carrier; and rotation period difference adjusting means for adjusting so as to fall within a predetermined range a difference between a first rotation period of said belt-form image carrier when said image forming process means is situated at said non-working position and a second rotation period of said belt-form image carrier when said image forming process means is situated at said working position.
- 13. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 12, whereinsaid difference between said first and second rotation periods is not more than 1 msec.
- 14. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 12, whereinsaid rotation period difference adjusting means is provided on at least one of said drive member and said belt-form image carrier.
- 15. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 12, whereinsaid image forming process means is situated at said working position so as to be opposed to a drive roller as said drive member, and said rotation period difference adjusting means comprises an average friction factor between contact surfaces of said drive roller and said belt-form image carrier is not less than 0.1 and not more than 0.45.
- 16. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 15, whereinsaid rotation period difference adjusting means comprises a maximum friction factor of said drive roller for said belt-form image carrier is not less than 2.0 Kgf and not more than 6.0 Kgf, a tension of said belt-form image carrier is not less than 2 Kgf and not more than 4 Kgf, and an angle of entrainment of said belt-form image carrier about said drive roller is not less than 90 degrees and not more than 180 degrees.
- 17. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 12, whereinsaid rotation period difference adjusting means is a roller whose surface which comes into contact with said belt-form image carrier is made of a metal material, and said surface of said roller which comes into contact with said belt-form image carrier has a surface roughness of not more than Ra6.3 μm.
- 18. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 12, whereinsaid rotation period difference adjusting means is provided between contact surfaces of said drive member and said belt-form image carrier, and comprises a lubricant which reduces a friction factor between said drive member and said belt-form image carrier.
- 19. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 18, whereinsaid drive member has a metal material as its base material, and a part or a whole of a surface of said drive member which comes into contact with said belt-form image carrier is coated with a low-friction material as said lubricant having a lower friction factor than said base material.
- 20. An image forming apparatus in accordance with claim 18, whereina part or a whole of an inner surface of said belt-form image carrier which comes into contact with said drive member is coated with a low-friction material as said lubricant having a lower friction factor than a base material of said belt-form image carrier.
- 21. An image forming apparatus comprising:a belt-form image carrier for forming a toner image of a different color on a periphery thereof every rotation so as to be aligned; a drive member for rotating said belt-form image carrier supported thereby; a driven member for entraining said belt-form image carrier, said driven member being rotatable by rotation of said belt-form image carrier; cleaning means disposed so as to be separable from and contactable with said belt-form image carrier, and after start of formation of a first toner image onto said belt-form image carrier, said cleaning means being placed in a cleaning position in contact with said belt-form image carrier from a separated position from said belt-form image carrier before completion of the formation of a toner image of a last color onto said belt-form image carrier; wherein a difference between a first rotation period of said belt-form image carrier when a first toner image is formed and a second rotation period of said belt-form image carrier when a second toner image is formed, in the case that said toner image including said first toner image is formed on said rotating belt-form image carrier when said cleaning means is situated at said separated position, and said second toner image is formed on said rotating belt-form image carrier when said cleaning means is situated at said cleaning position is not more than one millisecond.
- 22. An image forming apparatus comprising:a belt-form image carrier wherein on a periphery thereof, a toner image is formed so as to be aligned; a drive member about which said belt-form image carrier is supported, said drive member rotating said belt-form image carrier; a driven member about which said belt-form image carrier is supported, said driven member being rotatable by being driven by rotation of said belt-form image carrier; image forming process means disposed so as to be separable from and contactable with said belt-form image carrier, said image forming process means being capable of being situated at a non-working position where said image forming process means is separated from said belt-form image carrier and at a working position where said image forming process means is in contact with said belt-form image carrier; wherein a difference between a first rotation period of said belt-form image carrier when said image forming process means is situated at said non-working position and a second rotation period of said belt-form image carrier when said image forming process means is situated at said working position is not more than one millisecond.
