Claims
- 1. A dun-colored pigment comprising a clay dispersant, particles of kaolin clay, 5-25% by weight titania, minor amounts of fatty acid and an anionic polymer, said pigment being 65-80% by weight finer than 2 micrometers and have an average particle size of 0.45 to 1.25 micrometers.
- 2. The pigment of claim 1 wherein booklets are present in said kaolin particles.
- 3. The pigment of claim 1 wherein said kaolin particles are delaminated.
- 4. The pigment of claim 1 which is formed into a 70% solids aqueous slurry that is fluid.
- 5. The pigment of claim 4 wherein a 70% solids aqueous slurry has a Brookfield viscosity in the range of 150-500 cps as measured with a No. 2 spindle at 20 rpm and a Hercules viscosity of 4-15 dynes as measured with an "A" bob at 4400 rpm.
- 6. Paper board containing as a base coat the pigment of claim 2.
- 7. Light weight paper coating containing the pigment of claim 3.
