Claims
- 1. A sweetened comestible comprising a comestible material in admixture with a concentration of a dihydrochalcone represented by the formula ##STR24## wherein X is selected from between hydrogen and hydroxy and R is an alkyl of from one to four carbon atoms, which is effective to impart sweetness.
- 2. The sweetened comestible of claim 1 wherein X is hydroxy and R is selected from among methyl, ethyl, n-propyl and n-butyl.
- 3. The sweetened comestible of claim 2 wherein the dihydrochalcone is represented by the formula ##STR25##
- 4. The sweetened comestible of claim 3 wherein said comestible is a beverage.
- 5. The sweetened comestible of claim 3 wherein said comestible is coffee.
- 6. The sweetened comestible of claim 3 wherein said comestible is tea.
- 7. The sweetened comestible of claim 4 wherein said comestible is a carbonated beverage.
- 8. The sweetened comestible of claim 4 wherein said comestible is a noncarbonated beverage.
- 9. The sweetened comestible of claim 3 wherein said comestible is a toothpaste.
- 10. The sweetened comestible of claim 3 wherein said comestible is a mouthwash.
- 11. The sweetened comestible of claim 3 wherein said comestible is a chewing gum.
