Abstract
The present invention is related to comfort devices to aid in the concealed carry process. The device is a dual sided pad. The two sides of the pad are held in place by a seal that is stitched around the perimeter of both pads. One side of the pad is made from neoprene, which will rest against the users skin while the second side is made from hook material of a hook and loop system. Given that the pads are only sealed around the perimeter, a cavity is formed between the two panels. Enclosed between the two panels of the comfort device is a medical grade gel insert.
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to padding. More specifically, the present invention is padding for use with a concealed carry weapon.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Concealed carry, which is the practice of carrying a weapon that is concealed from view by the public, is a commonly followed practice. Those who carry concealed weapons often secure and carry the firearm in a holster. In rare occasions, sometimes carriers just place the firearm tucked inside the waistband (IWB) of their pants without being secured within a holster. The holster can also be hung to the outside of the waistband (OWB) of the users pants and hang to the outside of the pants and often then covered with a long blazer, suit jacket, or similar type overcoat or the holder can be placed on the inside of the waist band of the users pants.

A downside to this, however, is that holster being placed against the users skin can be painful, given that the holsters are often made form hard plastic, leather or Kydex. An object of the present invention is to give provide a padding to the user to place between the holster and users skin. This pad will prevent indents being made into the skin and the pain caused from the holster digging in to the wears waistline.

DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

In reference to the figures, the present invention is a device designed to be securely fastened to the exterior surface of a gun holster. Many concealed carry participants store their concealed firearm by keeping it a holster that is securely fastened to their waistband (OWB). While some opt to keep the holster on the outside surface of one's pants, some opt to keep the holster securely positioned on the interior surface of ones pants (IWB). This places the holster between the material of their pants and the skin of the carrier's abdomen.

Most gun holsters are made from a durable material that can support the firearm, such as inflexible plastic, leather or Kydex. These types of materials, while they provide a stable secure holster for the firearm, can be uncomfortable and painful when held against the skin of one's abdomen for extended periods of time. The present invention is a pad that utilizes both sides. The pad can be made into various shapes, however, in the preferred embodiment it has a flat base and additional edges that are rounded in nature, forming an almost U-shaped design. The pad is designed with a body and a seal. The seal is what keeps all components of the concealed carry comfort device intact while in use. The base length is wider than that of the rounded top edge because the pad tapers and angles in one of the side walls. This taper is designed to follow the tapered design of where the handle or grip of the firearm extends down.

The pads are dual sided. One side of the pad is made from the loop material of a hook and loop fastening system. This loop side of the pad, once connected with the strips of hook material, will keep the pad securely in place against the holster of one's firearm. The second side of the pad is made out of a soft material, such as neoprene, that will provide comfort and relief to one when they have their holster in place. The two sides are perimetrically stitched closed forming a hollow cavity 57 in between the two sides of the pad. A panel of medical grade gel is adhered in between the first and second side of the pad. This medical grade gel layer is contained within the hollow cavity 57 that is formed. This medical grade gel is a non-liquid gel sheet that will provide the user with an additional layer of cushioning for when the holder is laying against the user's skin.

The body 2 has an interior panel 11, an exterior panel 12, and a gel insert 13. The interior panel 11 is the panel that would lie directly against the users skin. The exterior panel 12 is the panel that faces outwards and would lie in direct contact with the users pants, should they opt to keep the holster on the interior of their pants.

The interior panel 11 has a base 21. The base 21 of the interior panel 11 comprises a left end 41 and a right end 42. The interior panel 11 has a left edge 23, a right edge 24, and an angled edge 25. Though the right edge 24, left edge 23, and angled edge 25 are connected, they connect with a rounded nature about them and do not form perfect angles. The left edge 23 of the interior panel 11 has an upper end 43 and a lower end 44. The right edge 24 of the interior panel 11 also has top end 45 and a bottom end 46. The left edge 23 of the interior panel 11 is longer in nature than the right edge. This is to allow for the angled edge 25 to be positioned between the left edge 23 and right edge 24. The left end 42 of the base 21 of the interior panel 11 is connected to the lower end 44 of the left edge 23. The right end 42 of the interior panel 11 is connected to the bottom end 46 of the right edge 24.

The angled edge 25 of the interior panel 11 is positioned between the upper end 43 of the of the left edge 23 and top end 45 of the right edge 24. The interior panel 11 is made from neoprene as it is a soft material that will provide comfort to the user and not be an irritant against the skin.

Similar to the interior panel 11, the exterior panel 12 has a left edge 33, a right edge 34, and an angled edge 35. The left edge of the exterior panel 12 also has an upper end 53 and a lower end 54 and the right edge 34 of the exterior panel 12 has a top end 55 and a bottom end 56. The exterior panel 12 has a base 31. The base 31 of the exterior panel 12 is connected to the lower end 54 of the left edge 33 while the right end 52 of the of the base 31 is connected to the bottom end 56 of the right edge 34. The angled edge 35 of the exterior panel 12 is positioned angularly between the upper end 53 of the left edge 33 and the top end 55 of the right edge 34. The exterior panel 12 is made from loop material 32 of a hook and loop system. The present invention will come equipped with strips of the hook material of a hook and loop fastening mechanism, also know as Velcro. The strips of the loop material will be securely fastened to one's holster by way of a sticky material. This will allow the concealed carry comfort device to attach to the holster while in use.

The interior panel 11 is positioned directly behind the exterior panel 12. When the interior panel 11 and the exterior panel 12. A seal 3 is perimetrically positioned around the interior panel 11 and the exterior panel 12. As the seal 3 only seals around the perimeter of the two panels, a cavity 57 is formed between the exterior panel 12 and the interior panel 11. A medical grade gel insert 13 is enclosed within the cavity 57. A plurality of stitches 61 holds the seal 3 in place around the interior panel 11 and the exterior panel 12. The plurality of stitches 61 are spaced across the length of the seal 3. The stitches traverse through the seal 3, the interior panel 11 and the exterior panel 12.
