The disclosure relates to footstool and more particularly pertains to a new footstool for abutting a commode.
The prior art relates to footstools and includes a variety of footstools removably abutting a commode. Known prior art does not include a footstool comprising a foldable frame including a pair of steps configured to provide a footrest.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a commode including a base having a top side and a bottom side. The bottom side mounts to a floor surface. A bowl is mounted to the top side of the base, and a seat is pivotally attached to the bowl. A foldable frame is removably abuttable to the bowl of the commode and is positionable from a folded position to an open position. The foldable frame includes a pair of steps facilitating ascending a user of the commode from the floor surface to the seat of the commode and is configured for providing a footrest of the user when sitting on the seat of the commode when in the open position. The foldable frame includes a pair of front legs being pivotally coupled to the steps and supporting a front of the foldable frame upon the floor surface, a pair of back legs being pivotally coupled to the steps and supporting a back of the foldable frame upon the floor surface, and a pair of offset legs being pivotally coupled to the steps and facilitates pivoting the foldable frame from the folded position to the open position.
Another embodiment of the disclosure comprises a method including the steps of positioning a foldable frame into an open position. The open position includes a pair of steps being positioned horizontal relative to a seat of a commode. An upper panel of the steps is positioned above a lower panel of the steps. A pair of front legs is downwardly angled relative to the steps. A pair of offset legs is positioned parallel relative to the front legs. A pair of back legs is downwardly angled relative to the steps and is positioned oppositely angled relative to the front legs. A rear edge of the upper panel abuts to a bowl of the commode.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
The foldable frame 26 includes a pair of steps 32 facilitating ascending a user of the commode 12 from the floor surface 20 to the seat 24 of the commode 12 and is configured for providing a footrest of the user when sitting on the seat 24 of the commode 12 when in the open position 30. The pair of steps 32 includes a lower panel 34 having a front edge 36, a back edge 38, and a pair of side edges 40 and an upper panel 42 having a forward edge 44, a rear edge 46, and a pair of lateral edges 48. The rear edge 46 may have a cutout being concavely arcuate to abut entirely to the bowl 22 of the commode 12.
The foldable frame 26 further includes a pair of front legs 50 being pivotally coupled to the steps 32 and supports a front of the foldable frame 26 upon the floor surface 20. Each front leg 50 has a first end 52, a second end 54, and a middle section 56. The middle section 56 of the front legs 50 is pivotally coupled to each one of the side edges 40 of the lower panel 34 and is positioned proximate to the front edge 36 of the lower panel 34. The first end 52 of each of the front legs 50 is pivotally coupled to each one of the lateral edges 48 of the upper panel 42 and is positioned proximate to the forward edge 44 of the upper panel 42.
The foldable frame 26 further includes a pair of back legs 58 being pivotally coupled to the steps 32 and supporting a back of the foldable frame 26 upon the floor surface 20. Each back leg 58 has a top end 60, a bottom end 62, and a center section 64. The top end 60 of the back legs 58 removably abuts the upper panel 42, wherein the back legs 58 the upper panel 42 when in the open position 30. A pair of offset legs 66 is being pivotally coupled to the steps 32 and facilitates pivoting the foldable frame 26 from the folded position 28 to the open position 30. Each one of a pair of offset legs 66 has an upper end 68, a lower end 70, and a median section 72. The median section 72 of the offset legs 66 is pivotally coupled to the center section 64 of the back legs 58. The lower end 70 of the offset legs 66 is pivotally coupled to each of the side edges 40 of the lower panel 34 and is positioned proximate to the back edge 38 of the lower panel 34. The upper end 68 of the offset legs 66 is pivotally coupled to each of the lateral edges 48 of the upper panel 42 and is positioned proximate to the rear edge 46 of the upper panel 42.
In use, the foldable frame 26 is positioned into the open position 30 including the pair of steps 32 being positioned horizontal relative to the seat 24 of the commode 12. The upper panel 42 of the steps 32 is positioned above the lower panel 34 of the steps 32. The pair of front legs 50 is downwardly angled relative to the steps 32. The pair of offset legs 66 is positioned parallel relative to the front legs 50. The pair of back legs 58 is downwardly angled relative to the steps 32 and is positioned oppositely angled relative to the front legs 50 such that the back legs 58 and the front legs 50 evenly distribute the weight of the foldable frame 26 upon the floor surface 20. The rear edge 46 of the upper panel 42 abuts to a bowl 22 of the commode 12. After use of the commode 12, the rear edge 46 of the upper panel 42 is removed from the bowl 22 of the commode 12. The foldable frame 26 is folded into a folded position 28 having the steps 32 being positioned vertical relative to the seat 24 of the commode 12 and the front 50 and offset 66 legs are positioned parallel relative to the steps 32.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
