Claims
- 1. A wheeled carrier device, said device comprising:
a support base structure including a plurality of upwardly projecting stub walls, defining a side elevational profile and a perimeter, as well as an interior and an underside aspect, and at least one hand grasp serving as a handle; and a selectively removable sub-assembly mounting frame structure is at least partly movably mounted to the underside aspect of the support base structure, and the selectively removable mounting frame structure also at least partly has mounted thereto at least one movable wheel support unit structure, and the at least one wheel support unit has a support axis, wheel attaching means and a wheel defining a plane, and said wheel support unit being movable between a first, operative latched position wherein said wheel is erected to provide rolling support for said carrier device and is orthogonal to the support base; and an intermediate, wheel position in which the wheel of said wheel support unit is rotated approximately ninety degrees in relation to the support axis position of the wheel when occupying the operative position; and a stowed, latched wheel position, wherein the said wheel's plane is substantially contiguous to the outer aspect of the support base substantially within the side elevational profile of the support base; and releasable latching means, for positively latching said at least one wheel support unit in both the operative and stowed positions.
- 2. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein the second, stowed latched wheel position is substantially parallel with the support base, and is along the underside aspect of the support base.
- 3. A device in accordance with claim 1 wherein the selectively removable mounting frame structure also has at least partly has mounted thereto, at least part of at least one movable handle, and at least part of at least one movable underside support.
- 4. A device in accordance with claim 1 wherein said selectively movable mounting frame structure is selectively mounted in a first operative, underside aspect position, and selectively movable to a second, stowed position in which the frame structure and the at least one wheel support unit are all substantially within both the side elevational profile and perimeter of the interior aspect of the support base structure.
- 5. A device in accordance with claim 3 wherein said selectively movable mounting frame structure is selectively mounted in a first operative, underside aspect position, and selectively movable to a second, stowed position in which the frame structure and the at least one handle, at least one underside support, and at least one wheel support unit are all substantially within both the side elevational profile and perimeter of the interior aspect of the support base structure.
- 6. A device in accordance with claim 1 wherein magnetic latching means retain the wheel support unit in at least the second, stowed position.
- 7. A device in accordance with claim 1 wherein the movement of at least part of the wheel attaching means of the wheel support unit between the said first and second positions is near to 180 degrees.
- 8. A device in accordance with claim 1 wherein the latching means for the wheel support unit mounted to the support base include at least one spring biased latch which interacts with a portion of the wheel attaching means of the wheel support unit to provide latching of the wheel support unit in at least the first, operative position.
- 9. A device in accordance with claim 3 wherein the at least one handle includes an extensible portion and a receiving portion, and provides a handle latching means and selective manual manipulation to secure the extensible handle portion in relation to the receiving portion in both an extended and retracted position in relation to the support base perimeter.
- 10. A device in accordance with claim 3 wherein the at least one underside support includes a manually manipulable latch which interacts with the underside support to permit movement of the underside support between the first, operative and second, stowed positions.
- 11. A device in accordance with claim 1 wherein a shaped portion at least near to the free upper edge of at least one stub wall serves as a hook receiving area to permit the carrier device to be hung on a protrusion mounted on a vertical surface.
- 12. A wheeled carrier device in accordance with claim 1 including a selectively removable interconnection hitch element which in a first, operative position serves as a hitch, interconnecting the carrier device and a separate rolling device, so that the separate rolling device propels the interconnected carrier device.
- 13. A wheeled carrier device in accordance with claim 12 whereby one portion of the selectively removable interconnection hitch element is mounted transversely at least partly to the carrier device base and that at least one other hitch portion is mounted to a rolling device.
- 14. A wheeled carrier device in accordance with claim 12 whereby the selectively removable interconnection hitch element includes at least one selectively removable user controlled latch which in a first, operative position prevents the selectively removable interconnection hitch element from disconnection from both the carrier device and the separate rolling device, and in a second, non-operative position the selectively removable interconnection hitch element is selectively detachable from both the separate rolling device and the carrier device.
- 15. A wheeled carrier device in accordance with claim 12 where the carrier device is in a fully, stowed status while being propelled by the separate interconnected carrier device, and in a fully operative carrier device status, is detached from the selectively removable interconnection hitch element.
- 16. A carrier device in accordance with claim 1, wherein the at least one wheel support unit further includes at least one bracing portion at least partly mounted to said wheel support unit; and in a first operative position said bracing portion at least partly is in abutment with the selectively removable sub-assembly mounting frame structure, and in a second, stowed position at least a part of said bracing portion is detached from said abutment with said mounting frame structure.
- 17. A carrier device in accordance with claim 16, wherein at least one part of said bracing portion is at least partly mounted along the selectively removable sub-assembly mounting frame structure in said first position, causing gravitational force from downwardly applied weight to the carrier device to maintain said first, operative position of at least one wheel support unit.
- 18. A carrier device in accordance with claim 1, wherein the wheel attaching means includes at least one arm structure which is further mounted to a pivot joint; and
said joint is further mounted to said sub-assembly frame structure; and said joint and said releaseable latching means in said first, operative position, retain said wheel of said wheel support unit in said first operative, in use position substantially orthogonal to the carrier device base; and in an intermediate position, said wheel support unit and said arm structure is released from said latch means and both movable on said joint along a substantially vertical plane, and rotatable along an axis of rotation of said joint at least 90 degrees; and in the second, stowed position, said wheel is directed inward toward the center of the carrier device base.
- 19. A carrier device in accordance with claim 1, wherein the wheel of the wheel support unit, in said operative position, rotates 360 degrees in relation to its support axis.
- 20. A wheeled carrier device, said device comprising:
a support base structure including a plurality of upwardly projecting stub walls, defining a side elevational profile and an outer perimeter; and at least one wheel support unit affixed to said support base; said wheel support unit including wheel attaching means and an affixing axis, and a wheel having an outer periphery, defining a plane and having a central axis of rotation, and said wheel support unit being movable between a first, operative position wherein said wheel is erected to provide rolling support for said support base, and wherein the plane defined by said wheel support unit extends substantially orthogonally to the side elevational profile of the support base, and a second, stowed position, the plane defined by said wheel of said wheel support unit being swept through an angle during movement of said wheel support unit between said first and second positions such that the plane defined by said wheel in the second position of said wheel support unit is near to parallel with the support base and substantially within the side elevational profile of said support base; and said wheel's central axis of rotation is wholly within, and the wheel's periphery is substantially within, the support base perimeter in said second, stowed position; and releasable latching means, for positively latching said at least one wheel support unit in both of said first and second positions thereof, and a selectively removable interconnection hitch element, which in a first, operative position serves as a hitch interconnecting the carrier device and a separate rolling device so that the separate rolling device propels the interconnected carrier device, and a push and pull handle secured to the carrier device, which is also movable from a first operative position, to a stowed position closely adjacent to the support base structure substantially within the outer perimeter of said device; said handle comprising at least two elongate portions at least partly contained within a handle receiving latitudinal cavity formed at least partly along the stub walls of the carrier device; at least one further opening is formed from said handle receiving latitudinal cavity on each of two opposing sides of said device, and handle latching means, movably mounted to the carrier device proximate to said handle receiving latitudinal cavity openings, which interact with a portion of said handle at said openings, and the handle is movable through the handle cavity between the stowed and the operative handle positions, said movably mounted latching means are movable to an operative position wherein the latching means interact with and latch the handle portion at said opening along the stub wall handle cavity to prevent forward and rearward movement of said handle portion in relation to the carrier device, and unlatching of the movable latching means from said latched position permits movement of said handle portion between said operative and stowed handle positions.
- 21. A wheeled carrier device, said device comprising:
a support base structure including a plurality of upwardly projecting stub walls, defining a side elevational profile and an outer perimeter; and at least one wheel support unit affixed to said support base; said wheel support unit including wheel attaching means and an affixing axis, and a wheel having an outer periphery, defining a plane and having a central axis of rotation, and said wheel support unit being movable between a first, operative position wherein said wheel is erected to provide rolling support for said support base, and wherein the plane defined by said wheel support unit extends substantially orthogonally to the side elevational profile of the support base, and a second, stowed position, the plane defined by said wheel of said wheel support unit being swept through an angle during movement of said wheel support unit between said first and second positions such that the plane defined by said wheel in the second position of said wheel support unit is near to parallel with the support base and substantially within the side elevational profile of said support base; and said wheel's central axis of rotation is wholly within, and the wheel's periphery is substantially within, the support base perimeter in said second, stowed position; and releasable latching means, for positively latching said at least one wheel support unit in both of said first and second positions thereof by direct interaction of the latch means with a portion of the wheel support unit, and at least one hand grasp serving as a handle is a component of the carrier device; and and a selectively removable interconnection hitch element which in a first, operative position serves as a hitch interconnecting the carrier device and a separate rolling device, so that the separate rolling device propels the interconnected carrier device.
