Claims
- 1. A polymer composition, consisting essentially of:
- (i) 40-99 wt. % of a miscible two component polymer blend, containing 0.1-99.9 wt. % of a first polymer comprising 90-100 wt. % styrene monomer units, and 99.9-0.1 wt. % of a second polymer comprising 10-100 wt. % of monomer units having formula (I): ##STR5## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or methyl; and (ii) 60-1 wt. % of a third polymer, wherein said third polymer is chemically different from said first polymer and said second polymer, and wherein said third polymer is non-miscible with said first polymer, said second polymer and said polymer blend.
- 2. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said second polymer comprises 20-90 wt. % of monomer units of formula (I).
- 3. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said second polymer comprises:
- (a) 10-90 wt. % of monomer units having formula (I), and
- (b) 90-10 wt. % of acrylic acid esters, methacrylate acid esters of C.sub.1-12 nonalicyclic alcohols, optionally substituted cyclic alkanols having 4-5 or 7-12 carbon atoms in the ring, C.sub.7-12 substituted cyclohexanols or mixtures thereof.
- 4. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said second polymer comprises:
- (a) 10-90 wt. % methylmethacrylate, and
- (b) 90-10 wt. % monomer units having formula (I).
- 5. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said first polymer comprises 1-20 wt. % monomer units of formula (II): ##STR6## wherein R.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl, and R.sub.3 is a C.sub.n H.sub.2n+1 alkyl group wherein n=1-8.
- 6. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein at least one of said first and second polymers has a glass transition temperature Tg>70.degree. C.
- 7. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said second polymer has a glass transition temperature Tg>20.degree. C.
- 8. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said polymer blend has a cloud point when heated.
- 9. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said polymer blend has a cloud point greater than 24.degree. C.
- 10. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said polymer blend has a cloud point greater than 60.degree. C.
- 11. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said polymer blend has a cloud point greater than 180.degree. C.
- 12. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein the index of refraction of said polymer blend and said third polymer have the following relationship
- .uparw.n.sub.D,PM.sup.25 -n.sub.D,P3.sup.25 .uparw.<0.01.
- 13. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said third polymer has a glass temperature Tg<20.degree. C.
- 14. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said third polymer is at least partially covalently bonded to said first polymer or said second polymer.
- 15. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said third polymer is cross-linked.
- 16. The polymer composition of claim 1, wherein said third polymer is polybutadiene or polyisoprene.
