Claims
- 1. A label for displaying information regarding a container and suspending the container from a support, said label comprising:
- a) a base label having a lower surface and an upper surface;
- b) a base adhesive disposed on said lower surface for affixing said label to the container;
- c) a hanger having at least two interconnected legs defining an opening therebetween, each of said legs having a respective end, each of said ends of said legs secured to said upper surface of said base label, said hanger constructed in a layered structure including:
- 1) first and second superimposed polymeric film layers extending between said respective ends of said legs, wherein each of said polymeric film layers provides stretch and tear resistance to said hanger; and
- 2) a layer of hanger adhesive interposed between said first and second superimposed polymeric film layers and securing said first and second polymeric film layers together.
- 2. The label of claim 1 wherein each of said first and second layers is substantially transparent.
- 3. The label of claim 1 wherein said hanger is foldable about said ends between a stored position wherein said hanger lies adjacent an upper surface of said base label and a hanging position wherein said hanger is folded away from said base label for receiving the support through said opening.
- 4. The label of claim 1 wherein said first layer, said second layer, and said layer of hanger adhesive are substantially coextensive.
- 5. The label of claim 1 wherein said hanger includes at least one foot portion formed on said ends of said legs, and wherein said at least one foot portion is secured to said upper surface of said base label by an anchoring adhesive.
- 6. The label of claim 5 wherein each of said first and second layers extend beyond said hanger and said hanger is defined by cut lines formed through said first and second layers, at least a portion of at least one of said first and second layers outside of said hanger being secured to said upper surface of said base label by said anchoring adhesive.
- 7. The label of claim 1 wherein said hanger includes at least three superimposed polymeric film layers.
- 8. The label of claim 1 wherein each of said first and second superimposed polymeric film layers are formed of polyester film.
- 9. The label of claim 1 wherein said base label has an upper surface and including indicia disposed on said upper surface of said base label.
- 10. The label of claim 9 wherein at least a portion of said indicia underlies said hanger when said hanger lies adjacent said upper surface of said base label in a stored position, and wherein each of said first and second polymeric film layers of said hanger is formed from a substantially transparent material, whereby said at least a portion of said indicia is visible through said hanger when said hanger is in said stored position.
- 11. A label for displaying information regarding a container and suspending the container from a support, said label comprising:
- a) a base label having a lower surface and an upper surface;
- b) a base adhesive disposed on said lower surface for affixing said label to the container;
- c) a hanger having at least two interconnected legs defining an opening therebetween, each of said legs having a respective end, each of said ends of said legs secured to said upper surface of said base label, said hanger constructed in a layered structure including:
- 1) first and second superimposed polymeric plies extending between said respective ends of said leg wherein each of said plies provides stretch and tear resistance; and
- 2) a layer of hanger adhesive interposed between said first and second superimposed plies and securing said first and second superimposed plies together.
- 12. The label of claim 11 wherein each of said first and second plies is substantially transparent.
- 13. The label of claim 11 wherein said hanger is foldable about said ends between a stored position wherein said hanger lies adjacent said upper surface of said base label and a hanging position wherein said hanger is folded away from said base label for receiving the support through said opening.
- 14. The label of claim 11 wherein said first ply, said second ply, and said layer of hanger adhesive are substantially coextensive.
- 15. The label of claim 11 wherein said hanger includes at least one foot portion formed on said ends of said legs, and wherein said at least one foot portion is secured to said upper surface of said base label by an anchoring adhesive.
- 16. The label of claim 11 wherein said hanger includes at least three superimposed plies.
- 17. The label of claim 11 wherein said base label has an upper surface and including indicia disposed on said upper surface of said base label.
- 18. The label of claim 11 wherein at least a portion of said indicia underlies said hanger when said hanger lies adjacent said upper surface of said base label in a stored position, and wherein each of said first and second film plies of said hanger is formed from a substantially transparent material, whereby said at least a portion of said indicia is visible through said hanger when said hanger is in said stored position.
- 19. The label of claim 1 wherein said hanger defines an opening therein between said legs and overlying a portion of said upper surface of said base label, said portion being exposed through said opening.
- 20. The label of claim 1 wherein said first and second layers are formed of different polymeric film materials.
- 21. The label of claim 1 wherein said first layer is formed of high density polyethylene and said second layer is formed of low density polyethylene.
- 22. The label of claim 1 wherein said first layer is formed of high density polyethylene and said second layer is formed of an oriented polypropylene.
- 23. The label of claim 11 wherein said hanger defines an opening therein between said legs and overlying a portion of said upper surface of said base label, said portion being exposed through said opening.
- 24. A label for displaying information regarding a container and suspending the container from a support, said label comprising:
- a) a base label having a lower surface and an upper surface;
- b) a base adhesive disposed on said lower surface for affixing said label to the container;
- c) a hanger having at least two interconnected legs defining an opening therebetween, each of said legs having a respective end, said hanger constructed in a layered structure which includes at least first and second superimposed layers extending between said respective ends of said legs, said first and second layers being substantially coextensive and defining at least one foot portion formed on said ends of said legs wherein each of said coextensive layers provides stretch and tear resistance; and
- d) an anchoring adhesive securing said at least one foot portion to said upper surface of said base label.
- 25. The label of claim 24 including a plurality of said foot portions, each of said foot portions being formed on a respective said end and being spaced apart from the other.
- 26. The label of claim 24 wherein each of said first and second layers are formed of polymeric film, said label including indicia disposed on said upper surface of said base label, at least a portion of said indicia underlying said hanger when said hanger lies adjacent said upper surface of said base label in a stored position, and wherein each of said first and second polymeric film layers of said hanger is formed from a substantially transparent material, whereby said at least a portion of said indicia is visible through said hanger when said hanger is in said stored position.
- 27. A label for displaying information regarding a container and suspending the container from a support, said label comprising:
- a) a base label having a lower surface and an upper surface;
- b) a base adhesive disposed on said lower surface for affixing said label to the container;
- c) a hanger having at least two interconnected legs defining an opening therebetween, each of said legs having a respective end, said hanger constructed in a layered structure which includes at least first and second superimposed polymeric, substantially transparent film layers extending between said respective ends of said legs; and
- d) indicia disposed on said upper surface of said base label, at least a portion of said indicia underlying said hanger when said hanger lies adjacent said upper surface of said base label in a stored position, said at least a portion of said indicia being visible through said hanger when said hanger is in said stored position, and wherein said indicia remains on said upper surface of said base label when said hanger is lifted away from said base label.
- 28. A label for displaying information regarding a container and suspending the container from a support, said label comprising:
- a) a base label having a lower surface and an upper surface;
- b) a base adhesive disposed on said lower surface for affixing said label to the container;
- c) a hanger having at least two interconnected legs defining an opening therebetween, each of said legs having a respective end, each of said ends of said legs secured to said upper surface of said base label, said hanger constructed in a layered structure including:
- 1) first and second superimposed polymeric film layers extending between said respective ends of said legs; and
- 2) a layer of hanger adhesive interposed between said first and second superimposed polymeric film layers and securing said first and second polymeric film layers together;
- d) wherein each of said first and second superimposed polymeric film layers is formed from the group consisting of polyester film, high density polyethylene film, and low density polyethylene film.
- 29. The label of claim 28 wherein each of said first and second superimposed polymeric film layers is formed from polyester film.
- 30. The label of claim 28 wherein said first film layer is formed of polyester film and said second film layer is formed from high density polyethylene film.
- 31. The label of claim 28 wherein said first film layer is formed of polyester film and said second film layer is formed from low density polyethylene film.
- 32. The label of claim 28 wherein said first film layer is formed of high density polyethylene and said second film layer is formed of low density polyethylene.
- 33. The label of claim 28 wherein said first film layer is formed of high density polyethylene and said second layer is formed of an oriented polypropylene.
