Claims
- 1. A joint between side panels adapted for use in a sidewall of a trailer body and the like, comprising:
a pair of panels, each said panel having opposite end portions and a middle portion therebetween, each said panel being comprised of an inner skin, an outer skin and a core member between said inner skin and said outer skin, said inner skins at said opposite end portions of each said panel being offset from said inner skins at said middle portion of each said panel; a logistics plate member associated with said inner skins at said offset opposite end portions thereof for spacing at least a portion of said panel end portions apart from each other a predetermined distance, said logistics plate member having a plurality of apertures therethrough for acceptance of an associated member; and a splicing member associated with said outer skins at said opposite end portions thereof for joining said outer skins together.
- 2. A joint as defined in claim 1, wherein each said panel has an inner surface, said logistics plate member being attached to said inner surface of said panels.
- 3. A joint as defined in claim 1, wherein each said panel has an outer surface, said splicing member being attached to said outer surface of said panels.
- 4. A joint as defined in claim 1, wherein said inner skins at said offset opposite end portions are offset toward said outer skins.
- 5. A joint as defined in claim 1, wherein said outer skins at said opposite end portions of each panel are offset from said outer skins at said middle portion of each said panel.
- 6. A joint as defined in claim 1, wherein said offset opposite end portions of said inner skins is formed by coining said inner skins.
- 7. A joint as defined in claim 1, wherein an inner surface of said logistics plate is planar with an inner surface of said inner skins at said middle portion of each said panel.
- 8. A joint as defined in claim 1, further including means for joining said logistics plate member and said splicing member to one of said panels, said joining means extending through said logistics plate member, through said one panel, and through said splicing member.
- 9. A joint between side panels adapted for use in a side of a trailer body and the like, comprising: a pair of panels, each said panel having opposite sides and opposite ends, each said panel having an outer surface, each said panel having at least one end being stepped to define a stepped end section, each said panel being comprised of an inner skin, an outer skin and a core member between said inner skin and said outer skin, a logistics plate member associated with said panels for spacing at least a portion of said portion of said panel ends apart from each other a predetermined distance, said logistics plate member having a plurality of apertures therethrough for acceptance of an associated member, and a splicing member being associated with said outer skins for joining said outer skins together, at least one of said logistics plate member and said splicing member being seated against said stepped end sections.
- 10. A joint as defined in claim 9, wherein said inner skins of each said panel at each end thereof are stepped to define said stepped end section, said logistics plate member being seated against said stepped end sections.
- 11. A joint as defined in claim 10, wherein said inner skins of each said panel are stepped toward said outer skins of each said panel.
- 12. A joint as defined in claim 11, wherein said core member is compressed between said inner and outer skins at said stepped end sections.
- 13. A joint as defined in claim 9, wherein said outer skins of each said panel at each end thereof are stepped to define said stepped end section, said splicing member being seated against said stepped end sections.
- 14. A joint as defined in claim 9, further including means for joining said logistics plate member and said splicing member to one of said panels, said joining means extending through said logistics plate member, through said one panel, and through said splicing member.
