Claims
- 1. A method for bringing about the erection of the penis to an animal biologically and physically capable of achieving an erection which comprises administering to said animal an erectogenic amount of a peptide selected from the group consisting of:
Ac-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2; Ac-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys NH2; Ac-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-Gly-NH2; Ac-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-Gly-Pro-NH2; Ac-Ser-Tyr-Ser-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2; Ac-Tyr-Ser-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2; Ac-Ser-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2; and a mixture of peptides taken from said group.
- 2. A method for the diagnosis of psychogenic erectile dysfunction in a male that is biologically and physically capable of achieving an erection of the penis which comprises administering to said male an amount of a peptide selected form the group consisting of
Ac-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2; Ac-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2; Ac-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-Gly-NH2; Ac-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-Gly-Pro-NH2; Ac-Ser-Tyr-Ser-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2; Ac-Tyr-Ser-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp Lys-NH2; Ac Ser Nle-Asp-His D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2; and a mixture of peptides taken from said group, in an amount sufficient to bring about an erection of the penis in a male, and determining the presence of an erectogenic effect as a result of the administration of the peptide wherein an erectogenic effect resulting from the administration of said peptide is diagnostic of psychogenic sexual dysfunction.
- 3. A method according to claims 1 which comprises administering by subcutaneous, intracorporeal, intramuscular, oral, or topical means.
- 4. A method according to claims 2 which comprises administering by subcutaneous, intracorporeal, intramuscular, oral, or topical means.
- 5. A method according to claim 2 wherein the peptide is
Ac-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2.
- 6. A method according to claim 2 wherein the peptide is
Ac-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2.
- 7. A method according to claim 2 wherein the peptide is
Ac-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-Gly-NH2.
- 8. A method according to claim 2 wherein the peptide is
Ac-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-Gly-Pro-NH2.
- 9. A method according to claim 2 wherein the peptide is
Ac-Tyr-Ser-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2.
- 10. A method according to claim 2 wherein the peptide is
Ac-Tyr-Ser-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2.
- 11. A method according to claim 2 wherein the peptide is
Ac-Ser-Nle-Asp-His-D-Phe-Cl-Arg-Trp-Lys-NH2.
